To get Porygon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, look for it in a 3-Star Hyperspace Wild Zone with Rock- and Normal-type Pokémon, then complete Side Mission 167 to trade a Porygon to Trian for a Porygon2. To evolve the line normally, trade Porygon holding an Upgrade, then trade Porygon2 holding a Dubious Disc. The encounter and mission are reported as Mega Dimension DLC content, so check that your copy includes the DLC.
How to get access to Porygon
Porygon’s encounter and Side Mission 167, “Porygon’s Polygon Count,” are reported as part of the Mega Dimension DLC. The official Pokémon Legends: Z-A site identifies the game and announced a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle scheduled for October 29, 2026. That date is in the future as of October 8, 2026; the announcement does not establish that every edition includes the DLC. Check the exact product listing for your platform and edition before looking for this content.
Where to find Porygon
According to Game8’s walkthrough, Porygon can appear in a 3-Star Hyperspace Wild Zone that contains Rock- and Normal-type Pokémon. These zones appear randomly; the guide says you can pass time on a bench to reroll them. This is guide-reported information, not independently verified here.
If you plan to complete the mission, keep in mind that Trian takes the Porygon you trade him. Use one you are willing to give up, or catch another if you want to retain one. See Game8’s “Porygon’s Polygon Count” walkthrough for the encounter and mission details.

How to complete Side Mission 167 with Trian
- Defeat Canari and Ivor during Hyperspace Mission 9. The walkthrough says this unlocks Side Mission 167, “Porygon’s Polygon Count.”
- Find Trian near the northwestern entrance of Passage de la Felicite in the Bleu District.
- Bring a Porygon and speak to Trian to trade it. The walkthrough says you receive a Porygon2 in return, completing the mission.
After the mission, the same walkthrough reports that an Unknown Hyperspace Zone appears and Trian provides a Dubious Disc. It also says higher-ranked Hyperspace Distortions can reward evolution items from floating Poké Balls. Separately, Game8’s Dubious Disc guide reports drops in 4- and 5-Star Hyperspace Wild Zones. No drop rate is established, so treat these as possible acquisition routes rather than guaranteed rewards.
How to evolve Porygon into Porygon-Z
The standard evolution chain uses two different held items and two separate trades:
Rank #2
- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
| Pokémon you trade | Held item | Evolution |
|---|---|---|
| Porygon | Upgrade | Porygon2 |
| Porygon2 | Dubious Disc | Porygon-Z |
These are the methods listed in Game8’s Upgrade guide, Dubious Disc guide and Porygon2 guide. Trian’s mission trade is a separate way to receive Porygon2; it is not the same as evolving your own Porygon with an Upgrade.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why Porygon may not be evolving
For the standard evolution method, check that the Pokémon being traded is holding the correct item: Porygon needs an Upgrade to become Porygon2, and Porygon2 needs a Dubious Disc to become Porygon-Z. Simply trading either Pokémon without its required held item does not match the listed method. If you are using Trian’s mission instead, the walkthrough describes trading Porygon directly to receive Porygon2.
