Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor the clearest per-enemy screw yield, hunt Wendigos: the Fallout Wiki reports they reliably drop loose screws. For a larger group, join A Colossal Problem when it is available. If you would rather avoid combat or an event, collect screw-bearing junk and scrap it—but no verified junk-only route or screws-per-minute figure is established by the sources cited here.
Fastest supported option: farm Wendigos
The Fallout Wiki reports that a Wendigo drops up to eight loose screws, with a rare chance of up to 11. Those are Wiki-reported game figures, not yields independently tested for this article. The Wiki names the Wendigo cave as a reliable location and lists other possible spawns, including the road south of Abbie’s bunker, where up to three may appear.
Use A Colossal Problem for a high-density encounter
The Wiki describes Wendigos spawning in extremely high numbers during A Colossal Problem. That makes the event a promising chance to loot several enemies, but the source does not establish a guaranteed screw total per event. It is an opportunity rather than a predictable per-run quota, and it depends on the event being available.
Other named encounters
The Wiki also lists One Violent Night: its Nightstalker appears at the event’s end. Treat this as another possible Wendigo encounter, not a guaranteed farming route. The Wiki is community-maintained, and the referenced result was crawled about three months before October 2026; the figures have not been confirmed against the latest game patch.

Scavenge and scrap screw-bearing junk
Bethesda’s Fallout 76 Player’s Guide advises players to pick up and scrap items because junk can contain components such as screws needed for repairs. This is a practical alternative if you prefer exploring and looting to fighting Wendigos, but the available sources do not establish a best junk-only route or exact yields from individual items.
Players mention desk fans and typewriters as screw-bearing scrap and suggest checking places with office clutter. That is community advice, not a tested route comparison: there is no reliable screws-per-minute result here. Pick up likely useful junk as you explore, then scrap it rather than expecting a particular location to guarantee a fixed haul.

What Scrapper does—and does not establish
The one-rank Intelligence perk Scrapper increases components gained when scrapping weapons and armor. The reference gives examples such as steel, molded plastic, and wood, with some common gains reaching up to three times their amount. That does not establish a screw-specific bonus, nor does it show that the perk multiplies screws from ordinary junk items.

| Approach | What the sources establish | Practical consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Wendigos | The Fallout Wiki reports up to eight loose screws per Wendigo, with a rare chance of up to 11. | Combat is required; the per-enemy yield is the clearest stated figure. |
| A Colossal Problem | The Fallout Wiki describes extremely high numbers of Wendigo spawns. | Offers a high-density opportunity when the event is available; no guaranteed event total is established. |
| Scavenging and scrapping | Bethesda recommends collecting and scrapping junk for useful components, including screws. | Lets you gather while exploring, but no verified optimal route or yield per run is established. |
The comparisons above are qualitative, not measured time or yield rankings. If you want the most clearly documented per-enemy option, prioritize Wendigo encounters. If you would rather avoid combat, gather and scrap useful junk without assuming a specific route will be fastest.
