How do I download a demo on Steam?
- Open the game’s Steam page. A demo may have its own store page, or its installation option may appear on the page for the full game.
- Choose the demo option. Select the demo’s install control. Steam also lets you add a demo to your library and install it later.
- Install and launch it. Once installed, open the demo from your Steam Library. Review the game’s page or its developer’s announcement for contents and system requirements.
- Wishlist games you want to follow. Steam says it may notify you when a demo becomes available for a wishlisted game or a game from a developer you follow.
How long is a Next Fest demo available?
There is no universal post-event availability rule established for all Next Fest demos. Some may remain playable after the event; others may be removed or deactivated. Check the particular demo’s Steam page and the developer’s announcement for its availability dates. For example, the DragonSword: Awakening team said its June 2026 demo would be deactivated 24 hours after Next Fest ended; that was a title-specific announcement, not a platform-wide deadline.
Steam’s event guidance describes Next Fest demos as free to try, but demo contents, system requirements, languages, controller support, and availability are set at the title level. Confirm the details for the game you plan to play.
