Use VRChat’s Worlds search to look for a known topic or browse suggestions, save useful places in favorite lists, and report a world or missing content warning through the reporting tools. The exact controls can differ across PC, VR, and mobile clients and can change with updates, so treat the steps below as a guide to the feature—not a promise that every button appears in the same place in every version.

How do you find worlds in VRChat?

VRChat’s Worlds experience supports both discovery and direct lookup: you can browse suggestions when you are open to something new, or search and refine results when you have a particular subject in mind. The client’s layout and available controls may vary by platform and version.

Browse suggestions for unfamiliar worlds

VRChat’s 2022.3.1 release notes described a redesigned Worlds menu intended to help users find what they were looking for and improve world discoverability. They also introduced “VRCat’s Variety Box,” which offered a random world from a set of categories; selecting Shuffle provided different suggestions. These are historical release details, not confirmation that the current client uses the same feature name or layout. If your Worlds screen offers suggestions or a shuffle-style option, use it to explore without needing a specific search term.

VRChat described the goal in those notes this way: “The Worlds Menu has been completely redesigned to help users find exactly what they’re looking for as well as improve overall world discoverability.” This is official release-note wording, not a quote attributed to a named individual. It helps explain why suggestions and search belong together: one can surface places you did not know to ask for, while the other starts from a topic or title you already have in mind.

Search when you have a topic in mind

Open the Worlds area and use its search control to enter the subject, name, or other term you want to find. VRChat said in its 2022.3.1 notes that an updated search displayed more results and provided more filter options. The notes do not establish a complete current list of filters, so check the controls shown in your client rather than expecting a particular set.

For a known world, searching its title or a distinctive part of the title is a more direct starting point than browsing suggestions. For a broad interest, try a general term and then refine it with any filters or sorting options available in the current interface. Search results and discovery suggestions serve different purposes: a query gives you explicit control over the subject, while suggestions are useful when you do not already know what to search for. The release notes do not establish a ranking formula, so do not assume suggestions or results are ordered by a particular popularity or engagement measure.

How do VRChat search filters and sorting work?

Filters narrow what a search returns, while sorting changes the order in which results appear. VRChat’s 2023.1.1 release notes said world and user search filters and sorting were improved and made persistent. That persistence can affect later searches: while the Main Menu stayed open, custom settings could carry over and refine subsequent searches, including canned searches. The client displayed “Search Refined” to indicate that behavior.

If a search seems unexpectedly narrow, look for active filter or sort settings and clear or adjust them before assuming the world is unavailable. A setting left over from an earlier query may still be shaping results. Reopening or revisiting search is not necessarily enough to restore an unfiltered result set while the menu remains open; inspect the current search controls. For example, a later search that appears to be a general or preconfigured search can still be affected by custom settings, according to the release notes. This persistence can be useful if you want consistent refinement, but it can also make a new query look incomplete until you notice the active settings.

Because the available filters can change, use the current interface to determine what you can refine. The reviewed release history confirms improvements to filters and sorting, but it does not provide a complete inventory of current options. It also does not explain how results are ranked beyond the presence of sorting controls; avoid reading more into the order than the client actually indicates.

Can you search VRChat worlds by tags?

An older VRChat patch note from 2018 described a tag-search method: enter a term, then change “Search In” from “Title” to “Tags.” That is a dated interface description, not a verified instruction for current clients. Look in today’s Search UI for an equivalent field or scope selector. If no tag option is present, use the filters and search fields your version actually provides; do not assume the older label remains available.

How do you save and organize favorite worlds?

When you find a world worth keeping, open its world details and use the favorite or save control shown there. VRChat’s feature history confirms that favorite lists are intended to save and organize worlds, but exact button wording and placement can vary by client. After saving, use your favorite lists to group places in a way that makes them easy to find again. If you are deciding whether to browse or search before saving, use search for a known place and suggestions for exploration; either route can lead to a world you can keep in a list.

Move worlds between lists and sort by date added

VRChat’s 2026.1.1 release notes describe improvements to world favorites, including the ability to move worlds between favorite lists. The 2025.3.2 notes said worlds in favorite lists were displayed by date added, newest first. A later fix in the 2026.1.2 notes addressed the Date Added setting so that it sorted worlds by when they were added. These notes describe the documented behavior and changes; check the current list’s sort control if its order differs from what you expect.

Moving a world between lists can help keep an existing collection organized without needing to treat every saved world as a permanent entry in the same list. Date Added is a sorting choice, not a separate favorite category: if you choose it, the later release note says the corrected order is based on when worlds were added. These are specific release-history details, not a guarantee that every client exposes identical list-management controls.

Favorite limits and list names

In VRChat’s 2026.1.1 release notes, the increase from 400 to 800 world favorites applies specifically to VRC+ subscribers. Do not treat 800 as a general free-account limit. VRChat’s 2025.3.2 notes also set the client maximum for a favorite-list name at 20 characters. These are dated release-note values and may change in later versions.

How do you report a VRChat world?

VRChat introduced reporting entry points in both the Main Menu and Quick Menu in its 2024.2.2 release. The reporting page supports reports about the world you are in, as well as users, avatars, and represented groups in the current instance. It also provides a page for viewing reports you have submitted. The release notes say reporting remains available from the relevant detail pages as well.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the Main Menu or Quick Menu and locate its report option. The exact label and placement can vary by platform and client version.
  2. Choose the relevant report target, such as the current world, a user, an avatar, or a represented group in the instance, or open that item’s detail page and use its reporting entry point.
  3. Select the report reason that best matches the issue and provide the information requested by the client. Available categories and prompts may change.
  4. Submit the report, then use the submitted-reports page if you need to review reports you have sent.

The current-world scope matters: the reporting feature described in the release notes covers the world you are in, and users, avatars, and represented groups relevant to the current instance. If you are reporting another item, its detail page may provide the entry point. The release notes confirm that reports can be viewed after submission, but do not describe response times, moderation outcomes, or an appeal process.

A report is a way to bring an issue to VRChat’s attention; the release notes do not specify a response time or guarantee a particular moderation outcome.

What does “Missing Content Warnings” mean?

VRChat’s 2023.4.2 notes introduced content labels for worlds and avatars, including sexually suggestive content, adult language and themes, graphic violence, excessive gore, and extreme horror. The same release notes described “Missing Content Warnings” as a report category for worlds or avatars that are not properly labeled. If content appears to need a warning that is absent, choose that category when it is available rather than using it for an unrelated complaint.

That release also said the content-label filters were off by default for users 18 or older and always on for users under 18, based on the birthday entered at registration. Because these defaults and safety controls can change, check the current Safety Settings in your client before relying on a particular filter state. A missing label and a content-filter preference are related but distinct: one concerns whether an item is labeled appropriately, the other concerns what labels your own settings filter. The release notes describe labels for both worlds and avatars, so the reporting category is not limited to world listings.

Which approach should you use?

Your goal Best starting point What to watch for
Find a specific world or subject Search Worlds using a distinctive title or topic term, then refine with current filters. Earlier custom filters may persist and narrow results; inspect the active settings.
Discover something unfamiliar Browse the suggestions shown in Worlds, including any available shuffle-style discovery control. Historical feature names and menu arrangements may not match the current client.
Find worlds by tags Check whether the current Search UI offers a tag scope or equivalent. The “Search In” → “Tags” workflow is documented in a 2018 note and may be obsolete.
Keep a useful world Favorite it from its details and place it in an appropriate list. List sorting and VRC+ limits depend on the documented version and subscription tier.
Flag a world or a missing warning Use the report entry in the Main Menu, Quick Menu, or relevant detail page. Choose the category that matches the issue; current labels and prompts may vary.

In short, suggestions offer less control over the starting point but support browsing; search gives you more explicit control over the subject and available refinements. Favorites are for keeping and organizing worlds you want to revisit, while reporting is for bringing a specific issue to VRChat’s attention. Search settings may persist, and feature details in the cited release notes are version-specific, so use the current client to confirm exact controls and limits.

Why might search results or favorites look different?

  • Search is too narrow: Check for persistent filters or sorting from an earlier search, especially while the Main Menu remains open.
  • A tag control is missing: The documented “Search In” selector is from 2018. Current clients may use different search fields or may not expose the same control.
  • A menu item is in a different place: Reporting and discovery controls can move or vary across PC, VR, and mobile clients and client versions. Look in the relevant menu or item details rather than relying on a platform-specific button sequence.
  • A favorite list is not in the expected order: Check its active sort setting. VRChat later documented a fix to sorting by Date Added, but the visible control can still depend on the current client.
  • You hit a limit: The 800-world favorite capacity announced in 2026.1.1 is for VRC+ subscribers. The client’s 20-character list-name maximum was stated in 2025.3.2; confirm current limits if either constraint matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find worlds in VRChat?

Use Worlds search when you have a title or topic in mind, then refine with the controls currently shown in your client. If you want to explore without a specific query, browse the suggestions available in Worlds. VRChat’s 2022.3.1 notes described a random-world feature with Shuffle, but its present name and layout may differ.

Can I search VRChat worlds by tags?

A 2018 patch note described entering a term and changing “Search In” from “Title” to “Tags.” That is historical guidance, not confirmation of the current interface. Check whether your Search UI has an equivalent tag selector; if not, use the fields and filters it actually offers.

Why are my VRChat search results unexpectedly limited?

Custom filters and sorting could persist while the Main Menu remained open, affecting later searches, including canned searches. Check for active settings and adjust or clear them. The 2023.1.1 notes said “Search Refined” indicated that custom refinement was affecting results.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How many worlds can I favorite in VRChat?

VRChat’s 2026.1.1 release notes increased the world-favorite capacity from 400 to 800 for VRC+ subscribers. That figure should not be treated as a general free-account limit, and the release-note value may change in later versions.

How long can a VRChat favorite-list name be?

VRChat’s 2025.3.2 release notes stated a 20-character maximum for favorite-list names in the client. Check your current client if the precise limit matters, because this is a dated release-note fact.

What should I report under “Missing Content Warnings”?

Use that category when a world or avatar appears not to be properly labeled for relevant content. VRChat’s 2023.4.2 notes listed labels including sexually suggestive content, adult language and themes, graphic violence, excessive gore, and extreme horror. Use another report reason for an unrelated issue.

Can I check reports I have already submitted?

VRChat’s 2024.2.2 release notes introduced a page for viewing submitted reports. Find it through the reporting interface in your current client; exact placement may vary. The release notes do not promise a particular moderation response time or outcome.

The Bottom Line

Search or browse depending on whether you know what you want; inspect persistent filters if results seem too narrow; and use favorite lists to organize worlds you want to revisit. For reports, choose the relevant item and a matching category. Because the cited controls and limits come from different release notes, confirm current labels, settings, and availability in your client.
