To find Steam games like the ones on your wishlist, start with Your Store recommendations and the Discovery Queue, then use Steam’s Interactive Recommender and tag browsing to narrow in on the genres, themes, and styles you enjoy. Curators and the Recommendation Feed add human perspectives. These tools offer different routes to candidates—not a guarantee that a recommended game will suit you.
Start with Your Store and the Discovery Queue
Open Your Store and look through your personalized recommendations and Discovery Queue. Steam’s discovery overview describes recommendations that can draw on signals such as what friends recommend, what is on your wishlist, and games similar to ones you recently played. That gives Steam context about your interests, but it does not mean every discovery tool lets you pick a wishlist game as an explicit starting point.
The Discovery Queue is useful for browsing a stream of suggested games. Steam has described it as a way to surface new releases, including games that may not yet have a play history for the Interactive Recommender to use.
Use the Interactive Recommender for a focused pass
From Your Store, open the Interactive Recommender if it is available in your Steam interface. Valve describes it as recommending games based on other players with similar play habits; it also offers tag filtering and saved settings. Think of it as a way to steer a personalized recommendation pass, not as a replacement for Steam’s other discovery surfaces. Valve explicitly says the recommender cannot surface unreleased games that nobody has played yet, while the Discovery Queue is designed to do so. Steer results with tags, then check the store page
Tags can help you translate what you like about a wishlist game into a broader search. Consider whether you want a particular genre, theme, mood, or style, then use Steam’s tag browsing or the recommender’s tag filters to focus results. Steam’s Discovery Update describes tag pages and tag-based search as part of its discovery tools.
A shared tag is a useful clue, not proof that two games play or feel alike. Open a candidate’s store page and check its description and features against what you actually want. For example, a genre tag may match while the game’s setting or style does not.

Add human-curated routes to your search
If you want opinions or themed lists rather than another personalized ranking, look at Steam Curators and the Recommendation Feed. Curators can point you toward games through recommendations and lists; the feed offers another way to encounter recommendations on Steam. Steam includes these among its discovery features in its Discovery Update and Steamworks visibility documentation. Their value is a different perspective, so consider why a curator recommends a game and whether that reasoning matches your preferences.
Keep, wishlist, or ignore candidates as you go
When a discovery item looks promising, add it to your wishlist so you can find it later. If it is clearly not for you, use Steam’s ignore control where available to remove it from that discovery experience. Steam documents these controls on discovery items in its Discovery Update. Steam’s descriptions establish these tools and their intended roles, but menu wording and availability can vary across interfaces. If a particular label is not visible, look within Your Store or use another discovery surface in the table.
