The fastest way to find your ARK: Survival Ascended OSS ID is to enable the in-game console, open it, and run whoami. ARK prints an Online SubSystem ID (OSS Id) and an ARK ID; the OSS Id is the 32-character alphanumeric Account ID that support may request. In Settings, open Advanced, switch Console Access to ON, select Save, open the console, type whoami, and copy the OSS Id exactly as displayed.

What the ARK OSS ID is
In ARK: Survival Ascended, “OSS Id” means the Online SubSystem identifier shown by the whoami console command. The Survive the Ark support article titled “What is an Account ID?” describes this OSS Id as your Account ID. It is a 32-character alphanumeric value used to identify your account when you contact support.

The command can display more than one identifier. Read the labels rather than copying the first line blindly: the output shows an Online SubSystem ID (OSS Id) and an ARK ID. For a support request asking for your OSS ID or Account ID, copy the value labeled OSS Id. Keep the complete string, including every letter and number, and do not add spaces or punctuation.
What you need before starting
- A running copy of ARK: Survival Ascended with access to the game’s settings.
- A way to open the in-game console. The exact key depends on your binding and platform.
- A support ticket, text field, or secure note where you can paste the identifier without changing its characters.
The instructions and menu names in the available guides are written mainly for PC. Game updates can move settings or change the default console key, so treat the labels below as the current route described by those guides rather than as a guarantee that every platform has an identical interface.

Step-by-step: find your OSS ID in ARK
1. Turn on Console Access
- Launch ARK: Survival Ascended and open the game’s Settings.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Find Console Access and set it to ON.
- Select Save before leaving the settings screen.
Saving matters because the console will not be available if the setting remains disabled. If you do not see the option, check that you are looking at the game’s Advanced settings rather than a server-management panel or a platform overlay.
2. Check or assign the console key
Open the Keyboard tab in the controls settings and look for Toggle Console. You can assign a key there if the binding is empty or inconvenient. Some PC guides use the tilde key (~) as the default. Keyboard layouts differ, so use the key shown in your own binding screen rather than assuming that the same physical key produces the same character.

There are two opening instructions in the published guides:
- The Nitrado guide says to press the console keybind twice to fully open the console interface.
- The Survive the Ark support article says to press the tilde (
~) key.
Start with the key shown beside Toggle Console. If a single press only produces a small command line or appears to do nothing, press the bound key a second time, as the Nitrado instructions describe. If your keyboard has no obvious tilde key, use the key you assigned manually in the Keyboard tab.

4. Run whoami
- Click in the console input area.
- Type
whoamiusing lowercase letters. - Press Enter.
- Wait for the command output to appear.
The command does not require an argument, quotation marks, or a player name. A successful response identifies your Online SubSystem ID (OSS Id) and your ARK ID.
5. Copy the OSS Id
Locate the line labeled OSS Id and copy its 32-character alphanumeric value. The support instructions say you can type the value into a ticket or paste it from the clipboard. Before submitting, compare the pasted value with the console so that no character was lost or replaced.

OSS Id versus ARK ID
whoami can show both an OSS Id and an ARK ID. They are labels for distinct values in the output, even when they look similar. If a support form explicitly asks for an “OSS ID,” “OSS Id,” or “Account ID,” provide the value on the OSS Id line. If the form asks for an ARK ID as well, copy that second value into its separate field instead of substituting one for the other.
Check the length and characters
The OSS ID described by the support material is 32 characters and uses letters and numbers. Count the characters if you are unsure whether you copied the entire value. Do not insert hyphens, spaces, quotation marks, or a line break. When pasting into a web form, check the beginning and end of the string; these are the places most likely to be omitted when selecting text manually.

Putting the ID in an ARK support ticket
- Open the support form or ticket conversation that requested your account identifier.
- Paste the value from the OSS Id line into the field or message body.
- Label it clearly, for example:
OSS Id: [your copied 32-character value]. Keep the variable-style example only as a formatting guide; replace it with the actual value. - If you were also asked for the ARK ID, provide that value under a separate label.
- Review the characters one last time and submit the ticket.
The identifier is account information, not a server administrator password. Even so, share it only through the official support channel that requested it. Do not post it publicly in a forum, screenshot, or social-media reply where it can be collected out of context.
If the console does not open
Console Access is missing or reset
Return to Settings → Advanced, confirm that Console Access is ON, and select Save again. Settings can be changed between sessions, so verify the switch immediately before trying the keybind.
The key does nothing
- Open Settings → Keyboard and confirm that Toggle Console has a key assigned.
- Use the exact key displayed in that binding, not a key remembered from another game or keyboard layout.
- Try pressing the key twice, because one of the cited guides requires a double press to fully open the console.
- If you assigned a new key, save the control change, return to the game, and try again.
A small command bar appears but not the full console
Press the bound key a second time. The Nitrado instructions distinguish between invoking the keybind and fully opening the console user interface. The visual result can therefore differ after the first press.
The tilde key is unavailable on your keyboard
Do not guess at an alternative symbol. Use Settings → Keyboard → Toggle Console to assign a key that exists on your layout. The tilde instruction in the support article is a shortcut for layouts where that key is readily available, not a requirement that every keyboard use the same physical key.

If whoami returns no visible ID
- Confirm that the console is fully open rather than showing only a partial command bar.
- Run
whoamiagain and press Enter once. - Check that the command is spelled exactly as
whoami, with no extra characters. - Scroll within the console output if the response is above the current line.
- Read the labels for OSS Id and ARK ID; do not assume an unlabeled number is the requested account identifier.
If the command still does not produce the expected lines, record your platform, game version, and the exact screen you reached when contacting support. The available instructions are primarily PC-focused, and console editions may present a different interface.

Search results also describe alternate ways to reach the command, but those routes are not confirmed by a mapped official page in the available material. Treat them as possibilities rather than guaranteed procedures.
Dedicated server
One reported route is to connect to the dedicated server, create a character, open the console (the report mentions double-tapping Tab on PC), and run whoami. Because the key and access behavior can depend on the server configuration, use the bound key shown in your own Keyboard settings whenever possible. The reliable part of the route remains the command itself: once the console is available, enter whoami and read the OSS Id line.
Local Host
Another reported route is to start a Local Host map, create a Survivor, open the console, and run whoami or ListPlayers. This procedure is not confirmed in the cited support pages. If you use it, verify that the resulting value is explicitly labeled OSS Id before placing it in a ticket; do not treat an arbitrary player-list value as proof of your account identifier.

Steam, Epic, and platform differences
The available material does not establish a verified rule for how Steam and Epic identifiers differ. Some search excerpts claim that Epic players need only the ARK ID and that Steam players have matching values, but the source for that claim was not identified. Do not rely on it when a support agent specifically requests an OSS ID. Run whoami and provide the field that the request names.
The menu labels Advanced, Console Access, and Toggle Console, as well as the default console key, are subject to change. If an update changes the wording, look for the equivalent console-access switch in the game settings and use the current control binding shown on your platform.
Do not confuse an OSS ID with a Steam ID
A Nitrado administration guide discusses adding players by Steam ID to a designated list. That is a separate administrator identifier and is not the same request as an OSS ID or Account ID. If a server administrator asks for a Steam ID, ask which identifier and format they need. If ARK support asks for an OSS ID, use the value printed by whoami on the OSS Id line.
