The most reliable way to find it is through your Steam Community profile: open Edit Profile, inspect the Custom URL area, and copy the number in the profile address after /profiles/. If your profile uses a custom /id/ address, clear the custom URL text first so Steam reveals the numeric address.
What a Steam64 ID is
“Steam64 ID” usually means SteamID64, Steam’s 64-bit account identifier. Steam Support describes a SteamID as a unique identifier for a specific Steam account; the commonly used 64-bit representation is a 17-digit number. It identifies the account rather than the name currently shown to other players.

That distinction matters when a game server, administrator, or whitelist asks for an identifier. Your visible profile name can be edited in Profile Settings, but the account identifier does not change. Steam Support states that your SteamID and Steam Account Name cannot be changed, even by Steam Support staff. A name copied from a scoreboard or profile header therefore is not a dependable admin-list value.

Before pasting anything, read the field label or the administrator’s instructions.

Find SteamID64 through your Steam Community profile
Steam’s profile editor exposes the numeric profile address that contains your account’s 64-bit ID. Follow these steps in a browser or Steam view that lets you open your Community profile and edit it.
- Open your Steam Community Profile.
- Click Edit Profile.
- Locate the Custom URL area in the profile editor.
- Inspect the profile URL shown in that area. If you have never selected a custom Community URL, Steam shows a numeric address containing your 17-digit account ID.
- If the box contains a custom name, remove the text from the Custom URL field. Steam then reveals the numeric profile URL instead of the vanity address.
- Copy only the numeric value that appears after
/profiles/. Paste that value into the server or admin tool when it specifically asks for SteamID64.
Do not copy the word profiles, the slashes, or the full web address unless the receiving tool explicitly asks for a URL. The value needed for a SteamID64 field is the uninterrupted number itself.
If your profile has never had a custom URL
A profile without a custom Community URL normally displays a numeric profile address in the editor. The segment after /profiles/ is the SteamID64. Select the entire number, then check that the selection starts with the first digit and ends with the last one before submitting it.

If your profile uses a custom URL
A custom Community URL has the form steamcommunity.com/id/yourname. The word after /id/ is a vanity name, not the numeric SteamID64. Return to Edit Profile, delete the custom text in the Custom URL box, and inspect the resulting numeric profile address. Copy the digits after /profiles/, then restore a custom URL only if you want one after recording the ID.
Recognize the correct profile address
The path tells you what you are looking at:

The /id/ form is useful for sharing a profile, but it is not the value an admin panel means when it says SteamID64. If you only have a vanity link, open that account’s profile and use the profile editor to expose the numeric address. A resolver can also translate a vanity URL to the corresponding numeric /profiles/ address, but the Steam profile editor is the direct method for finding your own ID.
Choose the identifier format the server requests
Steam accounts can be represented in several formats. They are not interchangeable strings, so do not assume that a value accepted by one tool belongs in another.

The same account can have all three representations, but a whitelist parser may validate only one syntax. If an administrator says “send your Steam ID,” ask which format they mean rather than guessing. In most game-server admin lists and whitelist fields that explicitly say SteamID64, submit the 17-digit decimal value from the numeric profile URL.
Enter the ID in an admin list or whitelist
Once you have copied the number, use a short verification routine before saving the entry. This prevents the most common failures: a truncated selection, a copied URL, or the wrong representation.
- Read the destination field label. Confirm that it says SteamID64, Steam64, or another wording that clearly means the 64-bit decimal identifier.
- Paste the value into a plain text area first if the admin panel automatically formats pasted content. This makes an accidental URL or line break easy to spot.
- Confirm that the value is one continuous 17-digit number. Remove spaces, quotation marks, commas, slashes, and any surrounding text.
- Save or apply the admin-list or whitelist change using the server tool’s normal control. Some panels require a reload or a server restart before a changed list is active; follow that panel’s own instructions rather than changing the identifier.
- Test with the account that owns the ID, if the server permits a controlled check. If access is denied, recheck the requested format and the exact number before asking an administrator to investigate permissions.
Keep the original number available while troubleshooting. Re-copying it from the profile editor is safer than trying to reconstruct a missing digit from memory.

Troubleshoot a missing or rejected Steam64 ID
“I only see an /id/ link”
You are looking at a vanity URL. Open Edit Profile, remove the text in Custom URL, and read the numeric profile address that appears. Copy the digits after /profiles/. If you are resolving somebody else’s vanity link, use a resolver that converts the vanity name to the numeric profile URL, then verify that the result belongs to the intended account.
The admin panel says the value is invalid
First verify the field’s format. A value beginning with [U:1: is SteamID3, and a hexadecimal string is Steam Hex; neither belongs in a field that validates SteamID64. Next check the number character by character. It must be the complete 17-digit value, with no spaces or punctuation. Copying the full profile URL instead of only the number can also trigger a validation error.
The whitelist saved, but access is still denied
Confirm that the saved entry contains the account’s SteamID64 rather than a display name or another player’s number. Then check whether the server expects a different representation, such as SteamID3 or Steam Hex. If the panel has a separate apply, reload, or restart action, complete that action according to its instructions. These checks distinguish an identifier error from a server-side activation or permission issue.

The player changed names after being added
A display name change does not alter the SteamID64. The whitelist entry should continue to identify the same account because it is tied to the immutable account identifier, not the editable name. Do not replace a correct numeric entry merely because the name shown in the server roster changed.
The number was copied with extra characters
Paste into a plain text editor and inspect both ends of the value. Remove leading or trailing spaces, line breaks, quotation marks, and the surrounding URL. The final entry should contain only the decimal digits expected by the field.
The profile editor does not show the expected address
Make sure you are editing the intended Steam Community profile and are looking at the Custom URL area, not a display-name or profile-summary field. If a custom URL is present, clear that text temporarily; Steam uses the numeric profile address when no custom URL is set. Do not substitute a visible nickname for the missing number.

Player names are designed for presentation and can be edited. Two accounts can also choose similar or identical-looking names, which makes a name a poor account key for administration. SteamID64 is intended to identify one account consistently, so it remains the useful value for a server list even when the player changes their public name.
Steam Account Name and SteamID are separate concepts as well. Steam Support says both cannot be changed, but the name visible on a profile or in a game can be changed in Profile Settings. When an administrator asks for a Steam64 ID, provide the numeric account identifier, not the login name, profile nickname, or a screenshot of a roster.
A final copy-and-submit checklist
- You opened your Steam Community profile and selected Edit Profile.
- You checked the Custom URL area.
- If a vanity name was present, you removed it long enough to reveal the numeric
/profiles/address. - You copied only the number after
/profiles/. - The copied value is a complete 17-digit decimal number with no spaces or punctuation.
- The destination field explicitly accepts SteamID64, or you converted the value to the format the administrator requested.
- You did not use a display name, Steam Account Name, full URL, SteamID3 string, or Steam Hex value in a SteamID64 field.
Following this process gives an admin list the stable account identifier it needs and avoids confusing a shareable vanity link or editable player name with SteamID64.
