On an administrator-enabled ARK: Survival Evolved server, use the in-game console to activate the admin HUD, look at a structure owned by the target tribe, and read its Tribe ID. Then run cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID> to display that tribe’s members and their PlayerIDs. Tribe ID and PlayerID are ARK identifiers, not Steam account IDs.

The quickest way to find both IDs

  1. Obtain administrator access to the ARK server.
  2. Press Tab to open the in-game console.
  3. Enter enablecheats <administrator password> if the server requires authentication.
  4. Enter setcheatplayer 1 or setcheatplayer true. This command does not need cheat or admincheat before it.
  5. Look directly at a building or other structure owned by the tribe you want to identify. The admin HUD shows that structure’s tribe number, which is the Tribe ID.
  6. Run cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID>, replacing <TribeID> with the number you just read. The result lists the tribe’s members and their PlayerIDs.

If you only need the Tribe ID, stop after the HUD inspection. If you need a player identifier for another admin command, use the member-list command and select the PlayerID from its output.

What you need before opening the console

Administrator permission

These commands are cheats, so they require server administrator rights. On a hosted server, set an administrator password in the host’s server settings. Some providers require a restart before the new password takes effect. HidenCloud’s documented login sequence is enablecheats (administrator password); replace the parenthesized text with the password configured for that server.

Successful authentication may not display a confirmation message. The absence of a message does not by itself mean the login failed. Test the next administrative command instead, and check the host’s control panel if commands still have no effect.

The correct game and server context

The procedure documented here is for ARK: Survival Evolved server administration. Console controls and command support can differ in ARK: Survival Ascended, console editions, modded servers, or particular provider configurations. If your server is running a different edition or a customized command system, verify the command syntax against the current reference for that exact version before troubleshooting the steps below.

A structure belonging to the intended tribe

The HUD reads ownership from the object you are looking at. You must target a building or another structure owned by the tribe whose ID you need. Looking at an unrelated structure, a neutral object, or a structure belonging to another tribe will not reveal the intended Tribe ID.

Step 1: Enable administrator commands

  1. Open the server host’s settings and set an administrator password if one has not already been configured.
  2. Restart the server if the host says a restart is required for the password change.
  3. Join the server with the character that will perform the lookup.
  4. Press Tab to open ARK’s console.
  5. Type enablecheats <administrator password> and submit it. Do not type the angle brackets; they indicate where your actual password goes.

For example, the command format is enablecheats MyServerPassword, but the password in that example is only a format illustration. Use the password configured on your own server. Keep the password private because it grants access to administrative commands.

Step 2: Display the admin HUD

With the console open, enter either of these equivalent forms:

ARK: Survival Evolved - Xbox One
  • Capture and Tame Dinosaurs: Discover over 100 different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures on the island, finding ways to tame them into useful additions for your tribe's dino herd
  • Survive Above All: Hunger, thirst, basic safety, and protecting yourself from the weather are all part of the game
  • Harvest, Hunt and Build: Cut down trees and turn them into a basic home, which you can quickly expand into a Jurassic estate. Hunt for meat, scavenge for plants (or start your own garden!)
  • Customize Everything: An extensive crafting system invites you to mix and match materials scavenged from the island, while also modifying the colors, textures, shapes, and styles
  • Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout
  • setcheatplayer 1
  • setcheatplayer true

According to HidenCloud’s command instructions, setcheatplayer does not require cheat or admincheat in front of it. The command enables the on-screen administrative information panel. Keep the console input exact: ARK accepts cheat for commands that require that prefix, while cheats is incorrect.

Step 3: Read the Tribe ID from an owned structure

  1. Close the console after entering setcheatplayer 1 or setcheatplayer true.
  2. Move to a building or other structure that the target tribe owns.
  3. Place your crosshair directly on that structure and look at the HUD information.
  4. Record the displayed tribe number exactly, including every digit.

The number shown for the owned structure is the Tribe ID used by ARK’s tribe-related commands. The HUD method is usually the fastest route when you can reach one of the tribe’s buildings. It does not require knowing a member’s name or PlayerID first.

If several tribes have nearby bases, inspect a structure from the correct base rather than relying on location alone. Ownership is determined by the object under your crosshair, so move from one structure to another until the HUD clearly identifies the intended tribe.

Step 4: List the tribe’s members and PlayerIDs

Open the console again with Tab and enter:

cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID>

Replace <TribeID> with the number displayed by the HUD. For instance, if the HUD displayed a number represented here as 123456, the command format would be cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList 123456. Do not include the angle brackets around the number in the command you submit.

ARK: Survival Evolved (Nintendo Switch)
  • Capture and Tame Dinosaurs: Discover over 100 different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures on the island, finding ways to tame them into useful additions for your tribe's dino herd
  • Survive Above All: Hunger, thirst, basic safety and protecting yourself from the weather are all part of the game. Run too far and not only will you be exhausted, but you will also quickly get hungry and thirsty. Weather effects are based on real-world climates, and so you'll need to hide out from rain and snow, while making the most of sunny days
  • Harvest, Hunt and Build: Cut down trees and turn them into a basic home, which you can quickly expand into a Jurassic estate. Hunt for meat, scavenge for plants (or start your own garden!)
  • Gather Resources, Customize Everything: An extensive crafting system invites you to mix and match materials scavenged from the island, while also modifying the colors, textures, shapes and style of everything from the walls of your home, to your character's armor, weapons and more
  • Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout. Make your way to the final boss and figure out why you've been dropped into this Jurassic-era experience

The command returns an overview of the tribe and its members. Each member is listed with a PlayerID, and the official ARK command reference also describes PlayerID and SteamID information in the output. Copy the PlayerID that matches the player you need. If you are gathering several IDs, record each name and number together so that you do not assign one member’s identifier to another.

Which method should you use?

Method What it gives you Required target Best use Limitation
Admin HUD inspection The Tribe ID attached to an owned structure A building or other structure owned by the target tribe Finding a Tribe ID quickly It cannot identify the intended tribe if you inspect the wrong object
GetTribeIdPlayerList The tribe’s member list and PlayerIDs, with SteamID information also described by the official reference The correct Tribe ID as a command parameter Retrieving one or more PlayerIDs for admin commands It is not useful until you have a valid Tribe ID

Both methods require administrator access. The practical sequence is therefore not an either-or choice for most lookups: use HUD inspection to obtain the Tribe ID, then use the member-list command when a PlayerID is needed.

Tribe ID, PlayerID and Steam ID are different identifiers

Tribe ID

A Tribe ID identifies the ARK tribe or team that owns structures and other tribe-controlled assets. It is the number displayed by the admin HUD when you inspect a structure owned by that tribe.

PlayerID

A PlayerID identifies an individual player inside ARK’s server and game systems. The member-list command associates each tribe member with a PlayerID so you can supply the correct value to an admin command that requests a player identifier.

Steam ID or Steam64ID

A Steam account identifier belongs to the Steam account system, not to ARK’s tribe or PlayerID system. HidenCloud and GPORTAL both explicitly warn that the Tribe or Player ID requested by these instructions is not your Steam ID. Do not substitute a Steam64ID when a command asks for a TribeID or PlayerID, and do not substitute a TribeID when a command asks for a player value.

The distinction matters because the numbers can look similar while representing different entities. Before submitting any later command, read its parameter description and use the identifier type it requests.

Troubleshooting when the lookup fails

The console does not open with Tab

Press Tab while connected to the server, not while you are in a menu or disconnected. If Tab does not open a console, your platform, edition, keyboard layout, server configuration, or provider may use different console controls. The instructions above are documented for ARK: Survival Evolved; verify the control and command support for your specific edition before changing server settings.

enablecheats appears to do nothing

A successful login may show no confirmation. First, enter setcheatplayer 1 and check whether the HUD appears. If no administrative effect occurs, confirm that the password exactly matches the value in the host’s settings, that any required restart was completed, and that your account has the server permissions needed to run cheats.

The HUD shows no useful tribe information

Move the crosshair onto a structure owned by the target tribe. The HUD cannot identify that tribe from an unrelated object. If the area contains multiple bases, inspect a known structure from the correct tribe and wait for its ownership information to appear.

The member-list command returns an error or no matching members

  • Check that you entered the Tribe ID digit-for-digit from the HUD.
  • Use the singular prefix cheat, not cheats.
  • Keep the command spelling exactly as GetTribeIdPlayerList.
  • Make sure you replaced <TribeID> with a number rather than typing the angle brackets.
  • Confirm that administrator authentication succeeded; without it, subsequent cheat commands will not run.

You found a Steam ID but the command still rejects it

Return to the tribe lookup and copy the PlayerID shown next to the member’s name. The requested value is determined by the command parameter, not by which identifier is easiest to find. A Steam ID is not interchangeable with an ARK PlayerID or Tribe ID.

You are using ARK: Survival Ascended, a console edition or a modded server

Command support and console controls may differ outside the ARK: Survival Evolved server environment covered here. Provider-specific settings can also change how administrator authentication works. Check the current command reference for the server’s exact edition and configuration rather than assuming that a Survival Evolved instruction will behave identically elsewhere.

A repeatable lookup workflow for administrators

For recurring moderation or server-management work, use the same order each time:

  1. Confirm which game edition and server instance you are administering.
  2. Verify that an administrator password is configured and that you have permission to use it.
  3. Authenticate with enablecheats <administrator password>.
  4. Enable the HUD with setcheatplayer 1 or setcheatplayer true.
  5. Inspect a structure that unquestionably belongs to the target tribe.
  6. Write down the displayed Tribe ID without altering its digits.
  7. Run cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID> only when you need member PlayerIDs.
  8. Match each PlayerID to the correct member name before using it in another command.

This order separates the two lookups: the HUD establishes the tribe, and the command establishes the people inside it. Keeping those stages distinct prevents the most common mistake—using a player or Steam identifier where the command expects the tribe number.

What to remember

  • The Tribe ID appears in the admin HUD when you look at a structure owned by that tribe.
  • cheat GetTribeIdPlayerList <TribeID> displays the tribe’s members and their PlayerIDs.
  • TribeID and PlayerID are ARK identifiers, not Steam IDs.
  • Hosted servers generally require administrator authentication with enablecheats before the lookup commands work.
  • setcheatplayer is entered without a cheat or admincheat prefix, while the member-list command uses the singular cheat prefix.
