Complete Welcome to Battahl, reach Bakbattahl, and return to Vernworth. Simon can be found near the North Vernworth Oxcart Station, around the city’s northeastern main entrance. If his scene does not trigger, speak to him directly.

Simon asks you to escort Ser Augustin back toward Vermund. The quest description says: “You have been asked to escort Ser Augustin, backbone of the opposition against the queen regent, back to Vermund. Make for the highroad, and tell no one—not even Captain Brant.”

Meet Augustin’s oxcart near Checkpoint Rest Town
Travel by oxcart from Vernworth’s western side toward Checkpoint Rest Town. Augustin’s cart is northeast of the town. Join the escort and continue until Raghnall interrupts the party.

Choose a side in the confrontation
You can side with Simon’s soldiers or Raghnall. Both walkthroughs describe the quest continuing into a pursuit of Raghnall, but they differ on the branch’s consequences: PowerPyx says the immediate next objective is the same, while Gamer Guides reports that siding with Raghnall is more favorable and that siding with Simon yields less gold. The guides do not establish an exact hidden affinity change.
This is a live combat choice, so be deliberate about your targets. Gamer Guides cautions that attacks can commit you to a side and stray hits can land on Simon or Raghnall by mistake.

Follow Raghnall through Guerco Cavern
- Enter the cavern. After the confrontation, pursue Raghnall into Guerco Cavern.
- Regroup after the floor collapses. The Arisen falls through a weakened floor and is separated from the pawns. Follow the path ahead to find Raghnall.
- Fight through the cave. Help Raghnall defeat the monsters, then continue along the route. At the open-air section, defeat the Saurians.
- Reach the exit. Follow the remaining path out of the cavern. The final conversation explains the escort’s circumstances; reaching the exit completes the quest.
