An outdated graphics driver can contribute to game problems, so checking for an update is a sensible early step when Diablo IV is stuck loading. It is not a guaranteed fix: Blizzard says outdated drivers and operating systems can cause a variety of issues, but does not identify them as the cause of every long loading screen. Blizzard’s driver and operating-system guidance explains how to identify your graphics card and find the appropriate manufacturer’s driver page.
Find your graphics card and current driver in Windows
Before downloading anything, identify the graphics card installed in your PC. Blizzard’s instructions use Windows’ DirectX Diagnostic Tool (DxDiag):

- Press Windows+R to open the Run dialog.
- Enter DxDiag, then select OK. If Windows asks whether to check for signed drivers, follow the prompt.
- When DxDiag opens, select the Display tab.
- In the Device section, note the graphics-card name and manufacturer. In the Driver section, note the current driver version.
Use the card’s manufacturer—not a third-party driver-updater utility—to locate a driver intended for that GPU and your version of Windows. Blizzard’s guide links to official driver destinations for AMD, Nvidia, and Intel. Driver releases change, so check the manufacturer’s current page rather than relying on a version number listed elsewhere.
Install an available driver update
On the manufacturer’s official page, select the detected graphics-card model and operating system, then follow that vendor’s download and installation instructions. The exact steps and available driver depend on your hardware and Windows version; do not install a package intended for a different GPU. Restart the PC if the installer requests it, then launch Diablo IV and check whether the loading hang remains.

If Diablo IV is still stuck loading
A driver update may not address the cause. Blizzard has a support article specifically titled “Long Loading Screens in Diablo IV”. Open Blizzard Support and follow the current instructions for that symptom; its specific troubleshooting steps can change.
If you need broader guidance, Blizzard’s Diablo IV Technical Troubleshooting overview advises searching for an article matching the specific error or problem before turning to general troubleshooting categories. Its overview covers installation, patches, connection, performance, crashes, and sound. Use the category that best matches what is happening rather than assuming every loading issue has the same cause.
