Each points to a different troubleshooting path. For Xbox One, Microsoft’s first check for a missing game is My games & apps > Ready to install; for a compatibility error, Microsoft recommends checking the Microsoft Store listing for a compatible version.
Identify the kind of installation problem
Before changing settings, note what you see on the console. Xbox Support separates installation problems, slow downloads, and disc installations that stop at zero into different troubleshooting topics. The right path depends on these details:
- Missing from the library: You cannot find the game among installed titles or available downloads.
- Queue stalled: The game appears in the queue, but progress is not advancing.
- Slow download: Progress continues, but more slowly than expected.
- Disc install at 0%: Installation from a disc does not move beyond zero.
- Compatibility or other error: The console displays a message or error code.
Also note your console generation and whether the game is digital or disc-based. Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S troubleshooting should not be assumed to use identical steps.

Check Ready to install on Xbox One
If an Xbox One game or app is not visible, Microsoft’s documented check is My games & apps > Ready to install. Look there before treating the title as lost or attempting another installation. Microsoft’s guide to finding games and apps describes this check for Xbox One.

If the title is not listed, or you are using a different Xbox generation, consult the current console-specific support guidance rather than assuming that the Xbox One menu path applies.
If the console reports a compatibility error
Open the game’s Microsoft Store listing and check whether it offers a version compatible with your console. Microsoft recommends this check when a compatibility error appears. Compatibility varies by title and console; this guidance does not mean every Xbox game runs on every Xbox console. See Microsoft’s guidance on finding games and compatible versions.

If a digital download is stalled or unusually slow
A queue that makes no progress and a download that is simply slow are separate symptoms. Xbox Support has distinct pages for Xbox One game and app installation problems and slow game or app downloads on Xbox One. Use the page matching what the queue shows. The support pages provide the appropriate route for those issues; do not apply disc-installation advice to a digital download.
If the page does not resolve the issue, use Xbox Support’s current instructions for your console and any displayed error. The available guidance here does not establish a universal sequence of queue, network, or storage actions that applies to every stalled download.

If a disc installation stays at 0%
A disc installation that remains at zero is a specific problem, not the same as a digital download stuck in the queue. Xbox Support has a dedicated page for Xbox One disc installation stopping at zero. Follow the disc-specific guidance there rather than trying steps intended for a slow download.

If the relevant checks do not resolve the installation, Microsoft directs users with Xbox console game and app installation problems to Xbox Support troubleshooting. Have the game title, console model or generation, whether the install is digital or disc-based, and the exact error message or code ready. These details help identify which support path applies.
