Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora keeps crashing on PS5, start with PlayStation’s launch-troubleshooting steps: check where the game is installed, restart the console, restore licenses, and test after each change. The available official information does not confirm a current Avatar-specific PS5 crash bug, so the steps below help narrow down the problem without assuming its cause.
Record what happens before changing anything
Note whether the game fails to launch, crashes while loading, closes during a repeatable scene, or fails intermittently. Write down or photograph the full error code and message. Also note where you were in the game, what changed recently, and whether other PS5 games are crashing. These details can help support investigate; they do not by themselves identify the cause.

Try the lower-disruption fixes first
Move the game to console storage if it is on USB extended storage
PlayStation’s guidance for PS5 games that will not launch says to move game data from USB extended storage to the console’s internal storage. After moving it, restart the PS5 and try the game again. See PlayStation’s game-launch troubleshooting steps.
Restart the PS5 and restore licenses
- Restart the PS5, then test Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
- If it still crashes, restore licenses using PlayStation’s current instructions for your console, then test again.
These checks are less disruptive than deleting and reinstalling the game, so try them first.

Check for game and system updates
Check that the game and PS5 system software are up to date. Ubisoft’s official game page lists a Title Update 2.6 entry dated January 22, 2026, showing that the game has continued to receive updates. That entry does not state that the update fixes PS5 crashes, so do not treat it as a confirmed remedy.
Reinstall the game if it still crashes
PlayStation’s launch guidance includes deleting and redownloading a game. This takes time and requires downloading the game again; use a wired connection if possible. Test the game after the download finishes. Follow PlayStation’s instructions and take care not to delete saved data when removing the game.

- Marvel’s Wolverine is a new action-packed adventure from Insomniac Games
- Play as Wolverine and Ravage enemies with explosive brutality and unleash razor-sharp adamantium claws to deploy fast, fluid attacks and overcome impossible odds
- An Original, Emotionally Charged Story. Beneath Wolverine’s gruff exterior and violent temperament is a man fighting for a cause greater than himself
- A Global, Adrenaline-Fueled Journey where you slice into enemies across detailed locales such as the frosted Canadian Wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the high and low districts of the island nation of Madripoor
Use Safe Mode as a later troubleshooting step
If the earlier steps do not help, PlayStation lists clearing the PS5 cache and rebuilding the database through Safe Mode. Follow the current PlayStation instructions rather than choosing other Safe Mode options at random. Reinstalling PS5 system software is a more disruptive escalation; PlayStation says to back up data before doing so.
Choose support based on what else is affected
- If only Avatar keeps crashing: Contact Ubisoft Support with the error code, where the crash occurs, steps to reproduce it, recent update history, and any workaround you found.
- If several games crash or the PS5 has other system-level problems: Contact PlayStation Support. PlayStation asks for error codes or messages and a detailed description of what happens, including the steps needed to reproduce the issue.
This is a practical way to route a support request, not proof that either the game or console is at fault.

What is known about an Avatar-specific PS5 crash issue?
The official information available here does not establish a known PS5 crash defect or identify a particular patch as a fix. Ubisoft announced on December 5, 2025, that its free third-person update was live on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, adding third-person play and New Game+. The announcement does not connect that update to crashes, so it should not be treated as either the cause or the solution.
