If the Black Ops Zombies browser game lags, will not load, or has no sound, match the fix to the error: check WebGL2 and hardware acceleration for graphics problems, reduce memory use for lag, and allow browser storage for map downloads. These steps apply to the unofficial fan port at vel.gg—not the installed Call of Duty: Black Ops game.
Check that your device and browser are supported
The game is an unofficial fan port of the 2010 Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies experience, not an Activision browser release. Its operator’s guide, last verified October 10, 2026, specifies a desktop computer and a current 64-bit Chrome, Edge, or Firefox browser. Phones and tablets are unsupported. The port also requires WebGL2 with GPU acceleration, a 1.5 GiB game heap plus additional memory for graphics and sound, and browser storage for map files. See the port’s requirements and troubleshooting guide.

If you are troubleshooting the installed PC or console game instead, these browser-specific steps do not apply. Activision’s support page covers the native game separately: Call of Duty: Black Ops support.
Fix lag and slideshow-like performance
- Use a supported setup. Open the game in a current 64-bit desktop Chrome, Edge, or Firefox browser. A phone or tablet is not supported.
- Enable hardware acceleration and restart the browser. In Chrome, enter
chrome://gpuin the address bar and check whether WebGL2 is hardware accelerated. If the browser cannot create a WebGL2 context, update your graphics driver. - Free up memory. Close other tabs and apps before loading the game. Its stated 1.5 GiB heap is not the total memory it needs: graphics and sound require additional room. Heavy hordes, especially on large maps, can bring on frame-rate dips.
- Try another supported browser if only one stutters. Performance can vary by machine and browser, so test another supported browser rather than assuming the game or computer is at fault.
- Lower the workload in Hell/Horde mode. Start with a low zombie cap and increase it gradually. The port guide warns that heavy Horde settings demand more performance and make crashes more likely.
The port guide recommends browser, memory, and workload adjustments; it does not establish that buying or upgrading hardware will fix lag.

Fix loading, memory, graphics, and map-download errors
| Error or symptom | What to try |
|---|---|
| “Shared memory is unavailable” | Open the game directly in its own browser tab using a current desktop browser. Embedded frames and in-app browsers can block shared memory. |
| “Unsupported graphics” | Enable hardware acceleration, restart the browser, and update the graphics driver if needed. In Chrome, check chrome://gpu for WebGL2 hardware acceleration. |
| “Could not reserve enough memory” | Close tabs and apps, then confirm the browser is 64-bit. |
| “Browser storage is full” | Free disk space or clear unneeded site data. The game saves map files in browser storage. |
| “Storage disabled” | Use a normal browser window and allow site data for the game. Private windows or strict site-data blocking can prevent files from being saved. |
| “Download interrupted” | Retry the download. According to the port guide, files that finished downloading are kept, so the game can resume the remaining download. |
Why the first launch takes time
The selected map must download and prepare its files. Later loads may be faster if the browser still has those files saved. If a map seems stuck, check that browser storage is allowed and has room before retrying.
Restore sound or mouse input
No sound
If you dismissed the browser’s sound prompt, reload the game and allow sound when prompted. The port guide documents this step but does not establish a general fix for persistent missing, distorted, or intermittent audio after permission has been granted.

- Computer mouse for easily navigating a computer interface; click, scroll, and more
- USB-A wired connection; if existing device only supports USB-C, an additional adapter will be required
- High-definition (1000 dpi) optical tracking ensures responsive cursor control for precise tracking and easy text selection
- 3 buttons offer effortless fingertip control
- Plug-and-go ready for instant use
Mouse will not aim
If the pointer was not captured, click inside the game window. If you dismissed the browser’s mouse or sound prompt, reload and allow it.
Recover from an engine crash
After an unexpected engine stop, reload the game; the port guide says verified downloads are saved. If it keeps crashing, use the game’s “Copy error report” option and share the report with the port developer. Heavy Horde settings can make crashes more likely, so lower the zombie cap if you were using them.
