Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Start with the fix that matches when the blur appears. On PS5 or Xbox, open Outriders’ Settings and adjust Sharpening. On PC, verify the display and in-game render resolution, check resolution scaling, and test DLSS if you use a supported GeForce RTX card. If the image smears only while sprinting or turning the camera, disable Motion Blur. Blur that arrives with hitching or texture pop-in needs frame-pacing and loading troubleshooting rather than sharpening alone.
Identify the kind of blur first
Outriders can look soft for different reasons, and the right fix depends on the timing of the problem. Stand still in a detailed area, open a menu, then move the camera and travel into a new area. Note which of these descriptions fits:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Always soft: menus, still scenes and gameplay all lack detail. Check output resolution, render scale, sharpening and anti-aliasing-related options.
- Soft only while moving: the picture becomes smeared during sprinting, camera turns or combat. Motion Blur is the first setting to disable.
- Softness with hitching: the image blurs or drops detail at the same time as a pause, texture pop-in or enemy-loading hitch. Treat this as a stutter or rendering problem.
- Console-only softness: use the in-game Sharpening control before changing anything else.
Dynamic resolution is often blamed for a soft picture. The available developer and platform guidance does not establish that every copy of Outriders uses a permanently active dynamic-resolution mode. A lower internal render scale, reconstruction setting or performance-saving option can produce the same result, so check those controls rather than assuming the cause.
Fix blurry visuals on PS5 and Xbox
1. Adjust Sharpening in Settings
- Launch Outriders and open the main menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Find the display or graphics section and adjust Sharpening.
- Apply the change, return to a detailed gameplay scene and compare a still view with camera movement.
505 Games’ support guidance gives console players this specific first step: “If you’re playing on console, we recommend adjusting the Sharpening setting in the Settings menu.” Use a moderate value first. Excessive sharpening can create bright outlines, ringing around objects and noisy film-grain-like edges, so select the lowest setting that restores useful detail.

2. Separate constant softness from movement smear
If the image is clear while standing still but turns into a streak while moving, Sharpening is not the main control. Look for Motion Blur in the graphics settings and turn it off. Test a sprint and a quick camera turn after changing it. If the picture remains soft even in menus and still scenes, return to the resolution checks in the PC section only if you are playing through a console-connected display that is applying its own scaling; otherwise record the behavior for support.
3. Check the display chain
Confirm the television or monitor is using its game mode and the console’s selected output resolution. Disable television post-processing modes that add smoothing, such as motion interpolation, and compare the console’s direct game image with another input or display when possible. These display checks are outside Outriders’ settings, but they can distinguish game rendering from a television processing effect.
4. Record reproducible evidence
If Sharpening and Motion Blur changes do not help, capture a short clip showing a still scene, movement and any loading hitch. Include the console model, game version if visible, display resolution, whether the issue occurs offline and online, and whether it affects every area or only particular locations.
Fix blurry visuals on PC
1. Match the game output to the display
- Open Outriders’ Settings and go to the display or graphics options.
- Set the game’s output resolution to the monitor’s native resolution, such as 1920×1080, 2560×1440 or 3840×2160.
- Check display mode (fullscreen, borderless or windowed) and apply the change.
- Look for a Resolution Scale, render-scale or similar slider. Set it to 100% while testing so the internal image is not being rendered below the output resolution.
A monitor can report 1440p or 4K while the game renders internally at a lower size. That produces a uniformly soft image even when Windows and the display are set correctly. Change one option at a time and restart the game if it asks you to do so.

- Quality Visuals: The VG270K 27" IPS monitor with 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
- AMD FreeSync Premium Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync Premium, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provides the smoothest gaming experience.
- Quick Refresh Rate: Different content has different refresh rate and resolution requirements. If you are playing an FPS or racing game, you will need a monitor with a high refresh rate. However, if you are doing office work or streaming videos, a higher resolution will be more beneficial. With DFR technology, users can choose a higher resolution, or a higher refresh rate based on what is suitable for them.
- Responsive: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter if the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting.
- ZeroFrame Design: With a Nitro VG270K monitor, you’ll want to see as much of the display as possible. Get more real estate with the near bezel-less design, allowing you to see more and do more. The ZeroFrame design lets you place multiple monitors next to each other for a seamless, almost uninterrupted view.
2. Turn off Motion Blur for movement-only smear
Motion Blur is separate from low-resolution rendering. If textures look acceptable in a still view but smear during sprinting, aiming or camera rotation, disable the in-game Motion Blur option. Developer-attributed reporting said the full release would include a motion-blur toggle. After changing it, test the same route and camera movement; do not judge the result from a static menu alone.
3. Test DLSS on supported RTX hardware
Outriders supports NVIDIA DLSS on compatible GeForce RTX hardware. DLSS reconstructs an image from a lower internal render workload, so its quality mode can let a system maintain a higher output resolution or more demanding effects than native rendering at the same frame rate. NVIDIA reported up to a 73% performance uplift for Outriders in 2021; that is a vendor-reported maximum under its test conditions, not a guarantee for every GPU, resolution or patch.
- Open the graphics settings and enable DLSS if the option is available.
- Choose a quality-oriented mode first, then compare fine texture detail, distant geometry and moving edges.
- If the image becomes ghosted, overly soft or unstable, switch modes or disable DLSS and compare at native resolution.
DLSS is not a universal blur fix. It is unavailable on consoles and non-RTX hardware, and a reconstruction mode can trade some fine detail for performance. Keep the output resolution and render scale fixed while testing so you can tell whether DLSS actually helped.
4. Check anti-aliasing and other image effects
Anti-aliasing can make edges look smoother at the cost of perceived sharpness. Compare the available anti-aliasing choices at the same resolution and render scale. Film grain, chromatic aberration and bloom can also make an image feel less crisp, although they do not lower the internal resolution. Disable one effect, test a repeatable scene, and keep a note of the result so several changes do not hide the cause.

When blur comes with stutter, pop-in or loading pauses
A soft image that appears only while a new area, enemy or power loads may be a rendering hitch rather than a sharpness setting. The developer-marked Steam support thread recommends testing a DirectX 11 launch path and lists several frame-pacing workarounds.
Use the DirectX 11 launch option
- Close the game.
- In your PC game launcher, open Outriders’ properties or launch-options field.
- Select the developer-marked DirectX 11 option if your installation exposes it.
- Launch the game and repeat the same movement route that previously caused the hitch.
Keep the original launch path available for comparison. DirectX 11 can change compatibility and performance behavior, so it is a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed visual upgrade.
Change frame-pacing variables one at a time
- DLSS: if it is enabled, disable it temporarily and retest; if it is disabled, a quality mode may be worth testing on RTX hardware.
- V-Sync: turn it off for a controlled test, then compare camera movement and hitching.
- FPS limiter: try a cap below the rate your system can sustain consistently. Test the same cap for a complete route rather than changing it every few seconds.
Do not change DLSS, V-Sync, the limiter and graphics quality together. A one-variable test tells you which setting changed the behavior and makes it easier to return to a stable configuration.
Community Engine.ini tweaks: use caution
Community forums circulate Engine.ini recipes intended to disable motion blur, chromatic aberration, film grain or bloom, alter anti-aliasing behavior, increase sharpening and adjust texture streaming. These recipes are unofficial, can be patch-sensitive and may behave differently across GPUs and resolutions.

- Ultra-thin bezel: Designed with a sleek, modern aesthetic and an ash white finish, this display features ultra-thin bezels for a refined, minimalist design.
- Back up the relevant configuration file before editing it.
- Change one group of settings at a time and keep a copy of the previous version.
- Launch the game after each change and check for crashes, missing effects, shimmering or worse texture quality.
- Remove the custom entries and restore the backup if the game becomes unstable or an update overwrites the file.
Do not treat a forum preset as a universal fix. An Engine.ini adjustment that helps one patch or graphics card can produce no change, excessive aliasing or new stutter on another.
Choose the fix by symptom
| Symptom | First action | Trade-off or limitation | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Constant softness on PS5 or Xbox | Adjust in-game Sharpening | Too much sharpening can create halos and noisy edges | Official 505 Games guidance |
| Constant softness on PC | Match output resolution and set render scale to 100% for testing | Higher internal resolution requires more GPU power | Manual diagnostic step |
| Smear during movement | Disable Motion Blur | Motion may look less cinematic | Developer-attributed release reporting |
| Blur with hitching or area loading | Test DirectX 11, V-Sync, FPS limiting and DLSS individually | Results vary by hardware and launch path | Developer-marked support troubleshooting |
| RTX PC needing more performance at a sharp target resolution | Test DLSS in a quality mode | Reconstruction can introduce softness or ghosting; unavailable on non-RTX systems and consoles | NVIDIA feature documentation; up to 73% uplift reported in 2021 |
| Persistent issue after settings tests | Send a complete report to Square Enix support | Requires detailed reproduction information | Official support-report requirements |
What to include in a Square Enix support report
Escalate when the problem is repeatable after the platform-specific checks, or when it is accompanied by crashes and severe stutter. Square Enix asks for enough context to reproduce the fault. Include:
- Platform and operating system.
- Exact steps that reproduce the blur, including location, activity and camera movement.
- Whether it happens every time or only intermittently.
- Your game language.
- Whether you were playing multiplayer and whether crossplay was enabled.
- On PC, the CPU, GPU and amount of RAM.
- Which resolution, render-scale, Sharpening, Motion Blur, DLSS, V-Sync and FPS-limiter settings were active during the test.
- A short video or screenshots showing a still scene and the same scene while moving, if the support form accepts them.
Describe the timing precisely: “soft in every menu,” “smeared only while turning,” and “soft for two seconds with a hitch when enemies load” point to different investigations.

Quick Recap
As an optional shortcut after the manual checks, Outbyte PC Repair can look for broken Windows elements, invalid redirects and shared-DLL problems, tune settings that load the CPU, RAM or disk, clean temporary and cache files, and provide an app-crash log. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7 with a free trial by category of at least two days before a subscription; results vary, it does not repair every game crash, and it complements rather than replaces antivirus software.
