If Call of Duty: Mobile will not download, install, update, or open, first check whether your device meets Activision’s stated requirements and install or update the game through its official app store. Then troubleshoot the specific failure: connection or Play Store issues, storage warnings, launch crashes, or a separate in-game content download. Activision’s game-specific support guide was updated February 25, 2026; the steps below follow its Android and iOS guidance.
Check device compatibility before troubleshooting

These are the minimums stated in Activision’s guide, not a guarantee that every device meeting them will run the game smoothly. They are a compatibility checkpoint, not a performance rating. If your device falls below either the listed RAM or operating-system minimum, repeated download attempts, cache clearing, or reinstalling are not substitutes for meeting the requirements.
Check the operating-system version in your device’s Settings. The exact location of the RAM specification depends on the device; consult its manufacturer information if Settings does not show it. Check both requirements rather than assuming that a recent operating-system version means the device has enough RAM, or vice versa.

Use Google Play on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS to find Call of Duty: Mobile and select Install or Update. Avoid unofficial installers: the supported troubleshooting instructions direct players to the official stores. Store controls and eligibility messages can vary, so use the message shown by your own store as a clue to what is failing, but do not assume an unsupported device can be made compatible by changing installation sources.
Start with the store because there are two different download stages to keep in mind. Google Play or the App Store installs or updates the app itself. Once the game opens, it may also download content from inside the app. A completed store update therefore does not always mean every in-game file has finished downloading.
“I’m having trouble downloading the app”
Work through the connection and store steps in order, retrying the download after each change. This helps distinguish a temporary network or store problem from a device or compatibility issue. If one step resolves the problem, there is no need to continue changing unrelated settings.

- Check the connection. Activision recommends a strong Wi-Fi connection. If Wi-Fi is unreliable, restart the router if you can access it, or try mobile data. A router restart is simply a troubleshooting step for an existing connection; you do not need to buy a new router or accessory to follow this guidance.
- Retry after changing the connection. Return to the official store and try the download again. If the same failure appears, continue to the next step rather than repeatedly tapping Install without changing anything.
- Restart the phone or tablet. After it starts again, reconnect to Wi-Fi or mobile data, reopen Google Play or the App Store, and retry.
- On Android, clear Google Play Store cache and data. Open your device’s Settings, find Apps or App management, select Google Play Store, open Storage, and use the available controls to clear its cache and data. Labels and paths differ by Android device. Then reopen the store and try again.
- Recheck compatibility. Compare the device’s RAM and operating-system version with Activision’s stated minimums above. If the device does not meet them, repeated store retries will not make it eligible.
Clearing Google Play Store cache and data is Activision’s Android download troubleshooting step. The path and wording vary by device, so look for the Play Store’s own app-storage controls rather than the game’s controls. Do not confuse clearing the Play Store’s data with clearing the game’s cache: they are different actions aimed at different problems.
If you are on iPhone or iPad, the guide’s download steps are to check the connection and restart the device; it does not list a corresponding App Store cache-clearing step. Continue to use the App Store, and move on to the storage or compatibility checks if those fit the message you see.

“I’m getting a message saying my device doesn’t have enough storage”
A storage warning can appear even when the device seems to report some free space. Activision says insufficient storage can prevent an app installation and notes that the warning may appear despite reported free space. The guide does not give a universal free-space target, so do not treat any single number as a guaranteed fix. Free space on the device itself, then retry the installation or update.

This error is about room available on the phone or tablet. Review the device’s own storage, make changes there, and retry from the relevant official store. Do not assume that managing cloud storage by itself clears local device storage. Activision’s iOS guidance also points to managing iCloud backups, but that is one possible part of reviewing storage rather than a guaranteed fix for every warning.
Free space on Android
- Open Settings and find Storage, or open the device’s app list and sort apps by size. Menu labels vary by manufacturer and Android version.
- Identify large apps whose temporary files you can clear. Activision suggests clearing the cache of other apps to recover space; some Android devices also offer a system-wide cached-data clearing option.
- If you still need room, uninstall apps you no longer use or remove large files from the device.
- Return to Google Play and retry the download or update.
Clear cache rather than an app’s data unless you understand the effect of that app’s data-reset option. The instructions here concern clearing caches to recover storage; they do not require resetting unrelated apps. If your device has no system-wide cache option, use the individual app cache controls or free space by removing unused apps and large files.
Repeat the store attempt after making space. Because Activision does not specify a required amount, a successful result on one phone cannot be turned into a universal threshold for another device or update. If the message remains, continue removing unnecessary local files or unused apps, then retry.
Free space on iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and go to General > iPhone Storage or iPad Storage.
- Review the apps and files using space. Delete apps you no longer use or remove large files you can do without.
- If relevant to your storage situation, review your iCloud backups and manage them as needed; Activision’s guide points players to backup management as part of storage troubleshooting.
- Retry the installation or update from the App Store.
Do not assume that clearing cloud storage alone will resolve a device-storage warning: make room on the phone or tablet and retry. If you are uncertain which files to remove, use the storage overview to identify what is occupying local space before deleting anything. The useful distinction is whether space has been freed on the device itself, not whether a particular amount appears in a generic online recommendation.

The app installs but will not open, freezes, or crashes
Follow the steps for your platform. Install available updates through the official store and the device’s system settings before moving on to reinstalling. A download failure and a crash after installation are different symptoms, so focus on the latter steps only after the app is installed.
Android
- Restart the device and try opening the game again.
- Check Google Play for a Call of Duty: Mobile update and install it if one is available.
- Check Settings for an available Android system update and install it if appropriate for your device.
- If the game still freezes or crashes, open its app settings and clear the game’s cache. Android menu names and locations vary by device.
After each step, try opening the game again. Clearing the game’s cache is a later step in Activision’s Android sequence, after restarting and checking for game and system updates. It is not the same as clearing the Google Play Store’s cache and data to address a store download problem.
iPhone or iPad
- Restart the device.
- Check the App Store for a game update, then check Settings for an available iOS update.
- If the issue remains, delete and reinstall the game from the App Store.
- After reinstalling, sign in with the same account. Activision says deleting the iOS app will not delete game progress or other game data; signing in with the same account reinstates them.
Reinstalling is a later iOS troubleshooting option, not the first response to every download stall. Use the official App Store for the reinstall, then sign in with the same account as before so your progress and other game data can be reinstated. The stated reassurance about data applies to deleting the iOS app as described by Activision; do not infer that unrelated account or sign-in changes are needed.

The app updated, but the game is still downloading content
An app-store update and an in-game content download can be separate stages. If the store says the update is complete but the game continues downloading files, check the game’s Download Manager and let the required content finish downloading before assuming the update failed. This is especially important when a map, audio option, or other content is not yet available inside the game.
Activision’s December 8, 2025 Version 35.0 notes give a specific historical example: Android players needed to redownload some content through the in-game Download Manager. The Isolated Battle Royale map was unavailable until its download finished, and HD audio remained at lower quality until its download finished. The notes said the corresponding content was included in the base iOS app build for Version 35.0. These details describe that version only; they do not establish what a later or current update requires.
Those same Version 35.0 notes listed approximate post-optimization app sizes of 1.6 GB on Android and 3.3 GB on iOS. Those are dated figures for that version, not a promise about the size of a current download or the free space your device needs now. Do not use them as a universal storage target or assume that every future update will have the same size or content-download behavior.
If the in-game Download Manager is still working, allow the relevant content download to finish before judging whether the map or audio is missing. If the app-store update itself is still stalled, return to the store-download steps instead. Keeping these stages separate can help avoid repeating a reinstall when the app has updated successfully and only additional game content remains to download.
Connection problems or an error that keeps returning
Call of Duty: Mobile requires a network connection. Check that the device is connected, restart it, and retry. If Wi-Fi is the problem, try restarting an accessible router or switching to mobile data. These steps can help isolate a connection issue, but they do not identify a service outage or explain every error code.
If changing the network and restarting do not help, match the next action to where the failure happens. A stalled store download calls for store and connection troubleshooting. A storage warning calls for freeing local device space. A game that installs but crashes calls for the launch steps for Android or iOS. A game that opens and downloads files calls for checking its in-game Download Manager. This avoids applying a remedy for one stage to a different stage.
Do not infer an outage, a country-specific store restriction, or the meaning of an error code from a generic failure message. Activision’s cited guidance does not establish current service status, every code’s meaning, or store eligibility in every country.
