If Call of Duty: Modern Warfare shows Dev error 6034 when you try to play multiplayer on PS4, start by closing and relaunching the game, finishing any pending game or system updates, and checking the installed content in the game’s Options → General → Game Installs menu. Historical reports linked the error to conflicting multiplayer packs after updates, but no official PS4-specific fix for error 6034 is established here. In particular, do not copy an Xbox pack-deletion recipe onto PS4.
What Dev error 6034 means on PS4
Reports from 2021 associated Dev error 6034 with conflicts between multiplayer data packs after game updates. These were user reports and third-party coverage—not an official diagnosis for every occurrence, and not proof that the same pack combination applies to PS4 today. The specific pack-removal advice circulating at the time was largely Xbox-focused.
Activision’s Modern Warfare support hub provides general support resources, but the hub reviewed does not list a current 6034-specific PS4 resolution. Treat the steps below as general checks that may help with installation or content problems, not as a guaranteed fix for this error.
What to try first
- Close and relaunch the game. Fully quit Modern Warfare, start it again, and check whether the error still appears when entering multiplayer.
- Finish pending updates. Let any available game update complete. Activision’s installation and setup guidance also advises installing available PS4 system software updates and allowing the game installation to finish.
- Review installed content in the game. Open Options → General → Game Installs and check which content packs are installed and which are required for Multiplayer. Activision documents this menu for reviewing and removing installed content.
- If you use a disc, inspect it. Activision’s general crash guidance recommends checking the disc condition. Also review old game data or installation state if the game has been crashing or failing to load.
These are sensible general installation and crash checks; Activision does not identify them as a confirmed 6034-specific sequence. Its installation guide was published on October 28, 2019, so launch-era storage figures on that page should not be treated as current requirements.

Check content packs without removing required files
Activision’s content-removal guide documents the Game Installs menu and identifies Data Pack 1 as required for Campaign, Multiplayer, and Spec Ops, and Multiplayer Pack 2 as required for Multiplayer. Pack names and availability can vary with the game’s installed version, so use the requirements shown in your own game rather than relying on an old list.
- Compare installed content with the game’s current Multiplayer requirements before changing anything.
- Do not remove a pack explicitly marked as required for Multiplayer.
- Do not delete a pack simply because an Xbox guide names it or gives its size; the historical workaround reports do not establish that configuration as the PS4 fix.
The 2021 reports describe a different update cycle and often refer to Xbox pack combinations. They do not support prescribing a particular PS4 pack deletion or reinstall as guaranteed. If the error remains
After updates and content checks, consult the Activision Modern Warfare support hub and its linked connection and crash resources. Activision’s crash and game-freeze guidance covers general PS4 troubleshooting, including system software, disc condition, old game data, and console condition. These steps address broader installation or stability problems; they are not a published 6034-specific fix.
The known-issues resource linked from the hub displayed an update date of June 21, 2024, and surfaced an issue involving a suspended Multiplayer Pack installation on PS5—not Dev error 6034 on PS4. That does not establish whether the error is currently tracked elsewhere or whether a particular workaround has been fixed.
