If Satisfactory shows Connection TIMED OUT or UNetConnection::Tick: Connection TIMED OUT, start with the dedicated server: increase its initial-connect timeout to 180 seconds and its connection timeout to 120 seconds in Game.ini, then restart the server. On the player side, set Network Quality to Ultra, add the server in Server Manager rather than using Join Game, and wait for the world to finish loading. Finally, make sure client and server builds match and that ports 7777 and 8888 are reachable.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Satisfactory servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
What “Satisfactory connection timed out” means
A timeout means the game did not complete its connection or session-registration exchange before the allowed wait expired. It is different from an incorrect password message and does not, by itself, prove that the server is offline. The delay can occur while a dedicated server is starting a world, while a large save is being loaded, while a client and server are on different builds, or while a network blocks one of the server’s ports.

The wording can appear in several places:
- Connection TIMED OUT in the game’s connection message.
UNetConnection::Tick: Connection TIMED OUTin a log.- RegisterPlayerWithSession entries around the failed attempt.
- A player-timeout record showing
IsOnline: false.
The most specific remedy currently documented for a Satisfactory dedicated server is a server-side timeout increase. Client-side settings and connection procedure should be corrected at the same time, because a longer timeout cannot repair a blocked port or an incompatible build.
Fix Satisfactory server connection timed out on a dedicated server
1. Increase the two server timeouts
A June 2026 BisectHosting guide attributes some Satisfactory dedicated-server timeouts to clients giving up before the server completes its initial connection and connection handshake. Its prescribed values are:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Setting | Value | What the value represents |
|---|---|---|
| Initial connect timeout | 180 seconds | Up to three minutes for the initial connection to complete. |
| Connection timeout | 120 seconds | Up to two minutes for the subsequent connection stage. |
These are provider-documentation values, not a published Coffee Stain developer recommendation. Use the exact key spelling and section shown by your current host documentation; the important values are 180 and 120 seconds.
2. Edit the correct Game.ini file
- Stop the dedicated server cleanly from its hosting panel or service manager. Editing while it is writing configuration can be overwritten at the next shutdown.
- Open the server’s
Game.ini. - On a Linux dedicated server, the documented directory is
FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer. The exact absolute path depends on the installation and host panel. - Go to the bottom of the file and append the two timeout entries exactly as specified by the host’s current Satisfactory instructions. Set the initial-connect entry to
180seconds and the connection entry to120seconds. - Save the file, start the server, and allow it to finish loading before attempting to join.
Do not paste settings into a similarly named engine file or into a client configuration directory. If your host supplies a configuration editor instead of direct file access, use its Game.ini section and preserve the key names and section headers it generates.

3. Restart and test with a cold start
A restart is required for the new values to take effect. After starting, watch the server console until its world is ready. A cold start can take one to three minutes, and a large save can take longer. Trying to connect while the world is still loading can produce the same symptom as a failed network path.
Set the player’s Network Quality to Ultra
On the affected PC, open Options > Gameplay > Network Quality, select Ultra, choose Apply, and then retry the connection. Cybrancee’s troubleshooting guidance says this setting increases the amount of data exchanged with the server during connection. It is a client-side change, so it does not replace the server timeout edit.
If Ultra does not help, leave the setting in place while testing the other branches below. Changing several settings at once makes it harder to identify the cause; after a successful connection, you can test a lower quality setting if bandwidth or performance requires it.

Join a dedicated server through Server Manager
For a dedicated server, use the game’s built-in server list rather than the ordinary Join Game flow:
- Return to the Satisfactory main menu.
- Open Server Manager.
- Add the dedicated server using the address and port supplied by the administrator.
- Select the server from Server Manager and connect only after its status indicates that it is available.
LOW.MS documents Server Manager as the intended route for dedicated servers, and a 2024 Steam discussion reports the same workaround. The procedure does not repair a stopped server, but it avoids sending a dedicated-server connection through the wrong join path.
Wait for the world to finish loading
Do not treat a slow first connection as proof of a network failure. LOW.MS reports that a cold start commonly takes one to three minutes and that large saves can take longer. The server may be running while its world is still being prepared.
- After a restart, wait at least the normal cold-start window before attempting to join.
- For a large or heavily built save, allow additional time instead of repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting.
- Ask the administrator whether the server console has completed world loading before starting another test.
Repeated attempts during loading can create a misleading pattern: each client reaches the server, waits, and times out before the save is ready.
Match the client and server versions
The game client and dedicated server must run the same build. A Steam or Epic update can leave a server process on the previous build until it is restarted. When a timeout begins immediately after an update:

- Close the game completely on the client.
- Update the client through its platform.
- Stop and start the dedicated server so it loads the same build.
- Confirm that any server-side mods or configuration tools are compatible with that build.
- Retry from Server Manager after the server has finished loading.
No game build numbers were established for this error, so compare the version displayed by your current Steam or Epic installation and the version reported by the server panel rather than relying on an old number from a guide.
Check the default ports and the network path
LOW.MS identifies 7777 as the default game port and 8888 as the reliable-messaging port. Either can be blocked by a host firewall, router rule, corporate network, school network, or internet provider policy. A server can therefore appear online in a panel while a player cannot complete the connection.
What the administrator should verify
- The server is listening on the configured game port, normally 7777.
- The reliable-messaging port, normally 8888, is permitted by the host firewall.
- Any router or cloud security-group rule forwards the configured ports to the dedicated-server machine.
- The values published to players match the server’s actual port configuration.
- A recent restart did not change the assigned address or port.
What the player can test
Try the same server from a phone hotspot. If the connection succeeds over the hotspot but fails on the normal home, work, or campus network, the result points to a network-path restriction rather than a Satisfactory save or timeout value. Give the administrator the test result and the network on which it occurred; do not repeatedly change server settings before isolating the path.
A hotspot test is diagnostic, not a permanent recommendation. Mobile networks can add latency, data charges, or carrier-level restrictions of their own.

Connection TIMED OUTRegisterPlayerWithSessionIsOnline: falsein player-timeout reports
How to interpret the pattern
| Log pattern | Most useful next check |
|---|---|
| Timeout while the server is still loading a world | Wait for the load to finish, then test again. |
| Timeout with repeated registration failures | Check matching builds, Server Manager entry, and ports 7777/8888. |
IsOnline: false after a player is dropped |
Compare the player’s timing with the server’s timeout and session-registration entries. |
| Only one network fails; a hotspot works | Investigate the original network’s firewall, router, or filtering policy. |
Logs do not by themselves prove which device blocked the connection. Use the timestamp, the server’s loading state, and a second network test together.
Older community workarounds: use only as a last test
Two older community reports—one in a CubeCoders thread and another in a Satisfactory forum thread—say players were able to connect after disabling the dedicated-server options that pause when empty and save on disconnect. These reports predate current builds and are anecdotal. They are not a confirmed fix for present versions.
If the server administrator chooses to test them, record the original values first, change one option at a time, restart the server, and restore the settings if there is no improvement. Do not sacrifice normal pause or save behavior permanently on the strength of an old report.

| Action | Controlled by | Evidence and effort |
|---|---|---|
| Raise initial-connect timeout to 180 seconds and connection timeout to 120 seconds; restart | Server administrator | Most specific published values; requires file or panel access and a restart. |
| Set Network Quality to Ultra | Player | Low effort; provider guidance says it increases connection data exchange. |
| Add and join through Server Manager | Player | Low effort; documented dedicated-server procedure. |
| Wait for world loading | Both | Essential after a cold start; large saves may exceed one to three minutes. |
| Match builds and restart after updates | Both, usually server administrator for the restart | Required compatibility check; exact build numbers vary by release. |
| Check ports 7777 and 8888 or test with a hotspot | Administrator and player | Separates server configuration from a restricted network. |
| Disable pause-when-empty or save-on-disconnect | Server administrator | Older anecdotal workaround; unverified for current builds. |
Follow the rows in order. The first row addresses the specific timeout condition; the next rows remove common client, startup, compatibility, and network variables without relying on an unverified community tweak.
When the timeout still happens
Every player times out
Prioritize the server. Confirm that it has completed world loading, apply the two timeout values, restart it, and verify ports 7777 and 8888. If all players fail at the same time, a client-only Network Quality change is unlikely to be the whole explanation.

Only one player times out
Have that player set Network Quality to Ultra, recreate the Server Manager entry, and test from a phone hotspot. If another player can join from the same server while the affected player cannot, compare the affected player’s network and client build before changing the save.
The failure began after an update
Restart both sides and confirm that the dedicated server received the same update as the client. Do not infer compatibility from the fact that the server process starts; a running process can still be on a different build.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe server works after waiting but not immediately
This points toward startup timing or save-load duration. Keep the timeout values in place, wait for the server’s ready state, and avoid launching connection attempts during the cold-start window.
The log shows UNetConnection::Tick: Connection TIMED OUT
Use the timestamp to correlate the message with RegisterPlayerWithSession, world-loading messages, and the player’s IsOnline: false record. Then apply the server-timeout, version, and port checks rather than treating the log line as a separate error code with its own guaranteed fix.
What is and is not confirmed about this error
No official Satisfactory developer patch or statement specifically resolving this timeout was identified. The 180-second and 120-second settings come from hosting-provider documentation, while the Ultra setting, Server Manager route, loading delay, and port checks come from provider guidance and community reports. The pause/save workaround is older and unverified for current builds.
That evidence distinction matters: a provider’s exact configuration values are a stronger starting point than an old forum workaround, but neither should be presented as a universal guarantee. If the timeout survives the ordered checks, preserve the server and player logs, note the client and server builds, record whether a hotspot changes the result, and give those details to the server host or game support team.
