Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If Crimson Moon is crashing, running poorly, or failing to launch on Steam, first check that the game is updated to Hotfix 1.0.2, released September 30, 2026, then compare your PC with the game’s published Windows 11 requirements. The update notes report several PC crash and performance fixes, but they do not establish a universal fix or a guaranteed frame rate. If the problem persists, record exactly when it happens and send those details to Team Metal Support.
Start by identifying what is going wrong
The timing and repeatability of the problem help you describe it accurately; they do not, by themselves, prove its cause. Before changing settings, note which of these best matches your issue:
- Won’t launch: Steam starts the game but no window appears, or the game exits before reaching a playable screen.
- Crashes: The game closes during a particular scene, encounter, or session. Record the exact point and whether it happens every time.
- Low FPS or stutter: The game remains open but has sustained low frame rates, sudden drops, or hitching. Note the area or encounter where it occurs.
Also record the exact error text, the game version displayed in Steam, your Windows version, CPU, GPU, RAM, whether you were playing solo or in co-op, and steps that reproduce the problem.
Check for Hotfix 1.0.2 before troubleshooting further
Team Metal announced that Hotfix 1.0.2 was live on all platforms on September 30, 2026. Its notes report multiple PC crash fixes, including an animation-related crash and a crash during UI text processing. They also report work on FPS drops or hitching in Forsaken Streets, Ramshorn Keep, Elk Grove Academy, the Prologue, and Warden and other boss encounters. The patch notes additionally describe shorter shader compilation at launch and improved load times. Read Team Metal’s Hotfix 1.0.2 announcement.

Check the installed version in Steam rather than assuming the update is present. If your problem resembles an issue named in the notes, report whether it still occurs after updating and where it happens. The publisher’s descriptions are patch notes, not independently measured FPS gains or confirmation that every similar issue is resolved.
Compare your PC with the published requirements
The Steam listing gives the following requirements for the Windows 11 PC build. These are the developer’s hardware tiers, not a promise of a particular resolution or frame rate. Compare your actual CPU, GPU, memory, operating system, and free storage before drawing conclusions.

See the Crimson Moon Steam listing for the publisher’s requirements. A PC below one or more minimum specifications, or using an operating system other than the listed one, is relevant context for a support report; it does not prove that a specific crash or performance problem has that cause. The requirements alone also do not show that buying a particular component will fix an individual issue.
If Crimson Moon keeps crashing
First establish whether the crash occurs before the game opens or during a repeatable scene or encounter. Check that Hotfix 1.0.2 is installed, then document the exact error and the steps that lead to the crash. The publisher’s September 1 launch-day known-issues page mentioned combat and general gameplay crashes, including ray-tracing-related cases and particular encounters, but it predates Hotfix 1.0.2. Treat it as historical launch-build information, not a complete or confirmed list of current problems. The launch-day known-issues article is available here.

If a crash continues, include whether it happens in solo play, co-op, or at the same point on repeated attempts. Avoid deleting save data or making undocumented system changes as a generic crash fix; the official sources do not validate those steps for this game.
If Crimson Moon has low FPS or stutters
Compare your hardware with the Steam requirements and note whether the slowdown is constant or tied to a location, encounter, or the game’s initial shader compilation. Hotfix 1.0.2 specifically reports fixes for FPS drops and hitching in named areas and encounters, plus changes intended to shorten shader compilation at launch. If you still see the issue after updating, report where and when it occurs and whether it is repeatable. The notes do not specify a target FPS or establish that every performance issue is covered.

If Crimson Moon won’t launch
Record whether the game exits before a window appears, reaches a loading screen, or displays an error. Note the installed game version and your Windows version, then compare the PC with the listed Windows 11 and hardware requirements. If Steam shows an older game version, check for the available update before sending a report. The official material cited here does not identify a universal launch-error procedure or confirm that any particular error message has a single known cause.

Include the game version, Windows version, CPU, GPU, RAM, exact error text if present, when the failure occurs, whether it happens in solo or co-op, and clear steps to reproduce it. For low FPS or hitching, name the affected area or encounter and describe whether the problem is persistent or intermittent. Team Metal’s September 30 announcement also notes that remaining save issues are under investigation; that is separate from diagnosing crashes or performance problems.
Keep save troubleshooting separate from performance fixes
If the concern is a save that behaves differently after switching devices, Team Metal recommends using one device where possible while it continues work on remaining save issues. For PC players, the publisher also recommends making a local save backup as an additional precaution. That guidance concerns save integrity; it is not a crash or FPS fix.
