Write down the objective exactly as it appears rather than describing it only as “the puzzle” or “the event task.” Include the named quest, event, character, item, and step if the game shows them. For example, “The Tales That Bind after completing The Story of Dreamlight Valley puzzle” is much more useful for checking official notes than “my story puzzle is stuck.” If a counter is involved, record what it says before and after the action that should have counted.
Also distinguish between a step that does not recognize what you did and a step that never becomes available. A placement objective may remain incomplete because the item is not in the required location; a collection duty may fail to count a named pickup; and a quest may stop because the game freezes. If you completed the objective but cannot open the event screen or claim a reward, that is a separate symptom. Gameloft’s September 2026 notes also list separate fixes involving quests, items, crafting, and event-log progression. A stalled objective therefore needs to be matched to its own entry rather than treated as a single general “puzzle bug.”
Use the entry’s wording and status together. An official page can contain both active reports and entries that have since been fixed, so finding a similar phrase is not enough. Check whether the item, quest, event, or step actually matches yours, whether the entry is still active, and whether the update that addresses it is installed. An older post may describe a workaround that made sense before a later fix; it is not automatically the best instruction for a current game version.

When comparing possible remedies, ask four questions: Does the official issue name your exact objective? Is the status active or fixed? Does the stated workaround apply to the same step and platform? Have you installed the update that contains the fix? If any answer is no or unclear, do not treat a workaround for another objective as interchangeable.
Use the workaround that matches your objective
For a placement or positioning puzzle
Read the named objective again and verify each requested item and location. Gameloft’s known quest issues page notes, for example, that items in WALL·E’s “Matchmaking Magic” must be placed in the correct location. A placement that looks plausible may not meet the exact location requirement. For “The Trial of Virtue,” distinguish the knight-and-dragon positioning issue from the separate furniture step after loading; only the latter has the documented instruction to re-enter the Trial area.
Make the comparison against the instruction the game gives you, not against what seems like a reasonable arrangement. Check the requested item as well as its named location; a similar-looking placement or a different piece in the right general area may not meet the objective. If the objective text names a character, furniture item, or specific room or area, confirm those details before concluding that a correct solution failed to register.
The April 8, 2026 “Whispers of the Wind” update notes describe two distinct “Trial of Virtue” issues. One concerns the knight and dragon not registering as correctly positioned. The other concerns the furniture-placement step not progressing automatically after loading into the Valley; for that case, Gameloft directs players to re-enter the Trial area. The re-entry instruction is tied to that furniture step after loading. It is not a general reset for the position puzzle, WALL·E’s placement task, or unrelated event duties.

For a Star Path duty or collected-item count
Check the exact duty wording and the current known-issues entry for the named items or action. The mushroom duty involving Porcini Mushrooms and Button Mushrooms is a specific reported registration problem, not evidence that all collection duties are broken. If Gameloft still lists the duty as active, a general puzzle reset is not an established fix.

When checking a collection task, make sure the official report and the duty on your screen refer to the same named items and objective. A failure to count a particular pickup does not establish that other items, actions, or duties are affected. If the duty’s status remains under investigation, avoid repeating unrelated quest workarounds in the hope that they will change its counter. The official listing is the relevant place to check for a status change or an issue-specific instruction.
For a quest that freezes or stops after a puzzle
Look for the quest name in the latest patch notes. In the specific “The Tales That Bind” case, Gameloft’s October 8, 2026 hotfix says it fixed a freeze that prevented progress after The Story of Dreamlight Valley puzzle. Update the game before retrying that step; the notes do not establish that the same fix covers unrelated quest stalls.
Check that the notes match both the quest and the point where progress stopped. “Quest not progressing” can describe a freeze, an objective that did not update, or a missing next step; those are not necessarily the same issue. If the notes identify your quest but your installed version predates the hotfix, update before testing the step again. If you already have the applicable update, record what happens when you retry so you can report whether the same symptom persists.

- Apply only the matching workaround: Re-enter the Trial area for the documented Trial of Virtue furniture step after loading; for placement objectives, check the requested location and item.
- Retry the exact objective: Return to the affected step and check whether its text, counter, or progression changes. Avoid making unrelated changes that could make the failure harder to describe.
- Contact Gameloft support if it persists: Include the objective name, platform, game version, and a concise account of what you did and what the game displayed.
This sequence is intended to narrow down the failure, not to force a reset. First establish whether the exact issue is already recognized. Mention whether you checked the official entry and whether you installed an update identified as fixing that issue. These details help distinguish a puzzle-position problem from a duty count, quest freeze, event-menu issue, or reward claim failure. The official guidance described here does not promise that a support request will restore an event reward you missed.
What not to do
The official notes and issue reports described here do not establish a universal fix involving deleting save data, changing the device clock, or reinstalling the game. Do not use those steps for an unrecognized event-puzzle problem unless Gameloft gives issue-specific guidance; they are not supported as general remedies by the documented cases above. If the current official entry names your duty or quest and marks it active, treat the failure as a reported issue and follow only its stated guidance. If an update marks that same problem fixed, update and retry. If no entry matches, check item placement and objective wording, then contact support with the details needed to distinguish your case from other progression bugs.
In short, compare your symptom with the named issue, its status, the applicable workaround, and the update installed on your device. A close match is not enough if the quest step or remedy differs. If the official pages do not name your objective, you can still rule out a straightforward placement mismatch and provide Gameloft with a clear report, but the available official notes do not support promising a particular fix for an unspecified puzzle.
