These checks can help narrow down what to do next, but they are not guaranteed fixes for every crash.
First, identify what the PS5 is doing
Before changing settings, record whether the game closes to the PS5 home screen, freezes, or displays an error. Note whether it happens at launch, when entering a particular mode, or during a match. Timing can help support teams understand whether the failure is repeatable, but it does not by itself identify the cause.
- Write down the full error code, if one appears.
- Note the game version and your PS5 model.
- Record the mode and the steps that reliably lead to the crash, if any.
Update the game and PS5
- Install any available College Football 25 update. PlayStation lists updating the game as its first recommendation for error CE-108255-1. Follow the official PlayStation CE-108255-1 guidance.
- Check for PS5 system software updates. Install an available update, then try to reproduce the same crash and note whether anything changed.
Updating is a sensible first check, not proof that the game has a known patch for your particular problem. EA’s College Football 25 support hub links to general crash and freezing help, bug reporting, and customer support; the hub does not identify a title-specific PS5 crash fix.
What CE-108255-1 means
PlayStation describes CE-108255-1 as “An error occurred with the game/application.” That is a general error description, not a diagnosis that College Football 25, the console, or a save file is at fault. PlayStation recommends updating the game and directs players to PlayStation Repairs for further help if the issue continues.

Check online services only if the problem depends on being online
If the failure occurs only while connecting to an online feature, EA’s server-status page may be useful for checking service information. However, the page’s listing reviewed here included College Football 26 and 27, not College Football 25, so it does not establish CFB 25’s current server status. A crash that also occurs offline is not explained by a connection-status check.
The PlayStation Store lists College Football 25 as a PS5 game, and says online play is optional while PS Plus is required for online play. That distinction matters when narrowing down a problem: if it happens in an offline mode, focus on the repeatable crash behavior and error code rather than assuming an online service is responsible.

When a reported error is only anecdotal
An archived EA Forums post describes one player encountering CE-108255-1 and CE-100096-6. It is a historical individual report, not an official diagnosis, confirmation of a widespread current bug, or a verified remedy. Do not treat either code in that post as proof that other players have the same cause.

If CE-108255-1 persists after updating, use PlayStation’s repair guidance. For game-specific help, use the contact route on EA’s College Football 25 support hub. Include the error code, game version, PS5 model, affected mode, and the steps that reproduce the failure; this gives support a concrete report to assess.

Avoid deleting saved data or resetting the console as an early generic fix. The official guidance cited here does not establish those actions as appropriate for College Football 25 crashes.
