The next step depends on what you see: a game crash, a console-wide freeze, a loading or login stall, and a connection problem are different symptoms. Note any exact error text and follow only the matching steps below.
First, identify what is happening
- The game closes or shows an error: record the exact message, then start with the restart and update steps.
- The whole Switch stops responding: use Nintendo’s downloaded-software troubleshooting, including its guidance for an unresponsive system.
- The game stays on a loading screen: use the loading-screen section below; first-time setup has a separate procedure.
- You cannot log in, download or update, matchmake, or join a party: this may be a connection issue rather than a crash. Epic groups these symptoms as connection problems and recommends checking its service status: Epic Games connection troubleshooting.
There is no official published figure in the cited support guidance establishing how often Fall Guys crashes on Switch, so a crash alone does not show that a widespread fault is underway.
Restart the Switch
Epic Games Support says, “Before any troubleshooting steps, we always recommend restarting your device.” For a normal restart, hold the console’s Power button for at least three seconds, choose Power Options, then Restart. This is Epic’s recommended first step for Switch troubleshooting: Fall Guys Switch troubleshooting.
If the console itself is unresponsive, the cited support pages give different forced-shutdown durations: Epic says to hold Power for 12 seconds, while Nintendo’s general freezing guidance says 20 seconds. Because the instructions differ, use the current guidance for your specific Switch model and situation rather than treating either duration as universal. Install available game and system updates
If restarting does not help, check for a Fall Guys update. Nintendo also recommends updating the Switch system and the affected game when downloaded software freezes or stops responding. To check for a game update, select the game icon without launching it, press + or −, then choose Software Update > Via the Internet. Check Fall Guys for corrupted data
After making sure the Switch system is up to date, check the game’s data. On the console, open System Settings > Data Management > Manage Software > Fall Guys > Check for Corrupt Data. Nintendo provides the procedure in How to Check for Corrupt Data in Downloadable Software.

If Fall Guys is stuck on a loading screen
First time playing on this account
Epic lists a separate procedure for a first-time player who gets stuck loading. It requires a PC with Epic Games Launcher and Nintendo Switch account credentials; it is not a general fix for every crash:
- On a PC, open Epic Games Launcher and sign in using your Nintendo Switch credentials.
- Install and open Fall Guys in the launcher.
- Wait for the Terms of Use screen and accept the terms without skipping the flow.
- Play at least one game, then exit the game properly.
- Open Fall Guys on the Switch and try again.

Returning player or another loading/login stall
For a more general loading-screen issue, Epic suggests synchronizing the Switch’s date and time with the internet. Epic also says that signing in to the Epic Games account with Nintendo Switch selected as the login option may update the account and allow play. These are loading/login troubleshooting suggestions, not established fixes for every crash. See Epic’s stuck-on-loading-screen guidance.
Reinstall only if earlier steps fail
Epic places uninstalling and reinstalling Fall Guys after the earlier troubleshooting steps. Its cited instructions do not promise that every local setting or data item will be retained, so do not assume that reinstalling preserves all local information. Follow Epic’s Switch troubleshooting instructions if you reach this step.
