If Fortnite suddenly shows Level 1 or missing progress, first check that you are signed in to the Epic Games account that holds your progress. Fortnite progress is tied to the Epic account, not stored as a separate console history that can be merged into it. Before unlinking anything, identify the account with the progress you want to keep accessible.
Fortnite progress looks empty or reset to Level 1
An empty profile does not by itself mean your original progress was deleted. You may be signed in to a different Epic account, or your console may be linked to another account. If you skipped registration on console, you may also have created an Epic account that still needs its account details completed.
- Sign in to each Epic Games account you may have used and check which one has your main Fortnite progress.
- On the Epic account you are checking, open Linked accounts and confirm which console account is connected.
- If the console is linked to the wrong Epic account, use Epic’s instructions to unlink it and link it to the Epic account with the progress you want to access.
Relinking changes which Epic account the console accesses; it does not move or combine progress between accounts. Epic says, “Epic Games Support cannot merge progress between accounts.” If you need to retain access to two separate histories, keep them on separate Epic accounts.
Make progress available across platforms
Link each platform account to the same Epic Games account that holds the progress you want to use. Epic allows one account of each platform type on an Epic account, and a platform account can be linked to only one Epic account at a time. For example, you cannot link two different PlayStation accounts to the same Epic account simultaneously.

Choose the Epic account with the history you want before changing links. If two Epic accounts have different progress, there is no merge option: linking platforms to one account makes that account’s history available on those platforms, while the other history remains separate.
Fix “You haven’t signed in on this account before” on console
First confirm that the PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account is listed under Linked accounts for the Epic account currently signed in. If it is not listed, follow Epic’s platform-specific linking process. If it is listed but the message continues, check whether the browser or game session is using a different Epic account from the one connected to that platform. An Epic account created automatically after skipping registration may need its account details completed.

Resolve an account already linked elsewhere or a rejected replacement
If Epic says a platform account is already linked to another Epic account, sign in to the Epic account it is actually linked to and confirm that you have selected the correct platform account before making changes. Each Epic account can have only one account of each platform type linked at a time.
If the error says a different account of that platform type was previously linked, Epic requires removal of the linking restriction before you can replace it. Epic says this restriction can be removed once every 365 days; it cannot be bypassed. Check the account carefully before proceeding. If the account being unlinked has an active Fortnite Crew subscription, Epic advises canceling it first: that account will not receive new Crew rewards after it is unlinked.

Recover access if your account may be compromised
A sudden loss of access or progress on an account you used before can be a security issue, not just a sync problem. Epic’s recovery guidance starts with securing the email account associated with Epic:
- Change the email account password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA). If you cannot access that email, recover it through the email provider.
- Reset your Epic Games password, then try signing in through a console or social account already linked to Epic.
- If the Epic account email was changed to one you do not control, or you still cannot regain access, submit an Epic account recovery request.
- After regaining access, reset the Epic password and enable 2FA again.
Progress syncs, but V-Bucks differ by platform
A wallet difference does not necessarily mean account linking failed. Epic’s sharing rules depend on where V-Bucks were purchased and whether they were earned:

If you have confirmed the Epic account with the progress, checked its platform links, and completed Epic’s relinking steps but still cannot access the progress, submit an Epic Support request. Support cannot merge Fortnite progress between Epic accounts, so be clear about which account holds the history you are trying to access.
