You can use Fortnite progress across consoles by linking each console account to the Epic Games account that holds the progress you want. First verify that you have the right Epic account: linking accounts does not merge separate progress histories, and choosing the wrong one can make the console show a different account’s progress.
Before linking, identify the Epic account with your progress
Fortnite progress is stored on your Epic Games account, not on the linked console account. Epic explains that the linked Epic account determines which progress appears when you play. Epic’s account-recovery guidance recommends signing in with the email associated with the Epic account or a linked external account you recognize.
- In a browser, sign in to the Epic Games account you think holds your Fortnite progress and check that it is the account you intend to use.
- If you are unsure which Epic account is associated with a console login, sign out and use that console’s sign-in option on Epic’s website to identify the linked account.
- If different consoles show different progress, compare the accounts before making changes and decide which progress history you want to use. Epic does not combine progress from separate Epic accounts.
Epic states: “Your Epic Games account is where all your saved data and progress is stored, not your linked console account.” Read the account-recovery article if you cannot identify the account.
Link a console to the correct Epic account
- Sign in to the Epic Games website using the Epic account that holds the Fortnite progress you want.
- Open Account Settings → Linked accounts.
- Select the icon for your console platform and follow Epic’s prompts to sign in to that platform account and complete the link.
- Launch Fortnite on the console and check that the expected progress appears.
Epic’s sync instructions provide platform-specific paths for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Steam, and PC/mobile. A child’s Cabined Account may have limits that require help from a parent or guardian.

What linking does—and does not do
An Epic account can have only one account of each platform type linked at a time, and a platform account cannot be linked to more than one Epic account. Epic’s cross-platform guidance says purchases and progress are available on supported platforms linked to the same Epic account, with a V-Bucks exception covered by its separate guidance.
- Linking a console to an Epic account makes that Epic account’s progress available on the console; it does not move the console’s previous progress into that Epic account.
- Separate Fortnite progress histories cannot be merged. If you need to keep both histories separate, leave them on their respective Epic accounts.
- Do not assume V-Bucks transfer or appear identically across every platform; Epic identifies currency as an exception to its general cross-platform access guidance.
If the wrong progress appears
Stop before creating or linking more accounts. The console may be connected to a different Epic account from the one that holds your main progress. Check the account shown under Account Settings → Linked accounts, then follow Epic’s troubleshooting steps to connect the console to the Epic account with the progress you want.

Unlinking or replacing a console account
Unlinking is not a way to merge or transfer progress. Epic says the data and purchases remain on the original Epic account, but the unlinked console loses access to them. Starting Fortnite after unlinking may automatically create a new, empty Epic account. Review Epic’s unlinking guidance before proceeding.
If you are replacing a platform account of the same type, Epic may require removal of a linking restriction. It allows removal of that restriction only once every 365 days, and says the limit cannot be bypassed. If the platform account being removed has an active Fortnite Crew subscription, cancel it first: Epic says it will not receive new rewards after unlinking. See Epic’s instructions for linking a different platform account.

Recover access after an unlink or mistaken link
If Fortnite prompts you to create or link an account after an unlink, use Epic’s recovery steps rather than assuming your progress was deleted. Depending on the situation, Epic describes registering the console-linked Epic account if necessary, verifying its email, unlinking the console from the account with no data, and then linking it to the Epic account that holds the desired progress. If the correct account is linked but the progress is still missing, Epic’s recovery article directs players to contact Epic Support.
