First identify what “lag” means in your case: disconnections or delayed online responses point to a network problem, while choppy animation and frame-rate drops point to a performance hitch. The troubleshooting steps differ, and none of the available official guidance establishes one fix that resolves every kind of Genshin Impact lag on PS5.
Tell network lag apart from visual stutter
Notice what happens when the problem appears. If you disconnect, struggle to connect, or experience delayed online responses, start with your connection. If the game keeps running but animation looks choppy or slows down, try the performance checks below. If other online games or services are also having trouble, that may help you decide whether to investigate the network first; it is a diagnostic check, not a guaranteed explanation.
If Genshin Impact disconnects or responds slowly
HoYoverse’s connection troubleshooting guidance recommends checking connection stability, testing a cabled connection, restarting network equipment, reducing network congestion, and trying another network if possible.
- Check the connection. See whether your PS5 is connected and whether other online services work normally.
- Test Ethernet, if practical. Connect the PS5 to your router with an Ethernet cable and see whether the network symptom changes. This tests the connection branch; it is not a fix for frame-rate drops or rendering stutter. If you need a cable, check that it can reach your router and that an available router port is nearby.
- Restart network equipment. Restart your router and other relevant network devices, then reconnect and test the game.
- Reduce congestion. Pause downloads or other heavy network use and disconnect devices that do not need the connection during your test.
- Try another network, if available. If the game works on a different connection, that is useful evidence that the issue may be specific to your usual network.

If gameplay looks choppy or frames drop
HoYoverse’s general troubleshooting article recommends fully closing the game, waiting five minutes, and then restarting it for performance problems. Treat this as a general support step, not a confirmed PS5-specific cure.
- Close Genshin Impact completely. Do not just leave it suspended; exit the game, wait five minutes, and launch it again.
- Check resource integrity if the option is available. HoYoverse describes an in-game check at Paimon Menu > Settings > Resources > Check Resource Integrity. The article covers multiple platforms, so follow the current PS5 interface and in-game support instructions rather than assuming those menu labels are identical on console.
- Check PS5 system software. Open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings and follow the console’s instructions if an update is available. PlayStation’s PS5 system software guide covers this process. Updating is a routine console check; the cited guidance does not identify it as a Genshin-specific stutter fix.
Do not apply PC-only advice to a PS5. HoYoverse’s cross-platform troubleshooting includes instructions for computers, but changing graphics drivers, using Windows file paths, or adjusting PC graphics menus is not relevant to this console.

Include when the lag occurs and which steps you have already tried; that helps distinguish a connection issue from a visual performance problem.
