If Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered opens but then says it needs an internet connection to connect to PSN, try adding -showlinkingqr to the game’s Steam launch options first. 1. Try the Steam launch option linked to the reported PSN error

- Under General, find Launch Options and enter

In an October 31, 2024 Steam discussion, player Bangalorian said the game reached the image-adjustment screen before showing a message that it needed internet to connect to PSN. The player reported that Nixxes support reviewed their submitted error log and found the PSN login was failing; the player then said this launch option worked. Another participant also reported success. Those are player reports, not a published Nixxes statement, and the discussion does not establish how the option works or whether it applies to every build. 2. Check whether your PC’s internet connection is actually down
The PSN message does not by itself prove that your general internet connection has failed. First confirm that other sites or online services work on the same PC. If your connection is unstable, troubleshoot that connection separately:
- Wired: Inspect the Ethernet cable for visible damage. Replace it only if it is faulty.
- Wireless: Restart the router, check that you are connecting to the intended network and frequency, and confirm the password. If possible, test with Ethernet to help isolate a Wi-Fi issue.
These are general connectivity checks; the cited game-specific report described a PSN login failure, not a damaged cable or router problem.

3. Run Windows network troubleshooting
If the connection itself appears unreliable, use Windows’ network adapter troubleshooter to scan the adapter you are using. The exact route and labels vary by Windows version, so look in Windows Settings for network troubleshooting or the option to troubleshoot the active network adapter.
4. Verify the game files in Steam
- In your Steam Library, right-click Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and select Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let Steam complete the check before launching the game again.
This checks the Steam installation; it does not confirm that a PSN sign-in problem has been fixed. 5. Reinstall only if the simpler checks fail
Uninstalling and redownloading the game takes more time and may not address a PSN login failure. The Steam discussion includes a player who said file verification and a redownload did not solve their case. Consider reinstalling only after trying the launch option, checking connectivity, and verifying the files; do not treat it as a confirmed fix for this error.
