If League of Legends looks too large, too small, or cut off, first match its in-game resolution to your desktop resolution: in a match, press Esc, open Video, and adjust the display settings. If you cannot get into a game to change them, Riot’s MinConfig recovery files can reset the game to minimum settings, but they replace your existing in-game settings.
Change League’s display settings in a match
- Start or enter a match, then press Esc to open the options menu.
- Select Video.
- Set the resolution to match your desktop resolution, then check whether the game fits the screen correctly. Riot lists this as its troubleshooting baseline for League display settings in its game-crash troubleshooting guidance.
- If the display still looks wrong, try the available video settings one at a time and check the result. A cropped or misplaced image can have more than one cause; matching resolutions is a sensible first adjustment, not a guaranteed fix for every monitor or display problem.
Riot also describes changing graphics settings to balance performance and visual quality. Those additional graphics changes may help performance, but they are not required screen-size fixes.
Use MinConfig only if settings stop the game from loading
If you cannot reach the in-game Video menu because the current settings prevent League from loading into a game, Riot provides MinConfig files on its system-requirements page. Follow Riot’s instructions to place the provided files in the League Config folder. The files reset the game to minimum settings and replace your existing in-game settings, so use this recovery option only if you accept losing those settings. Riot does not describe it as a guaranteed fix for every resolution or monitor issue.
Choose a resolution for your display, not a universal preset
Riot’s system-requirements page, published September 22, 2026, lists 1920×1080 for Windows and 1680×1050 for macOS as recommended resolutions. These are platform-specific recommendations, not instructions to force those values on every display. Start by matching the game to your desktop resolution; use a listed recommendation only if it is appropriate for your display.
