If the same sluggishness happens offline, investigate PC performance instead. These checks help distinguish the two symptoms; Capcom does not document a guaranteed fix for every online lag problem.
First determine whether the problem is online-only
Try a short offline session, then compare it with an online match. This is a practical way to separate a general performance issue from one that appears in multiplayer; it does not, by itself, identify the cause of an online problem.

- Slow offline and online: Check the PC’s specifications and graphics settings. Rendering or low frame rates may be contributing to the sluggish feel.
- Smooth offline, delayed online: Start with the input-delay control, then compare network conditions. The game’s manual says hardware and network specifications can affect perceived input delay.
Adjust the online input delay
Open Options > Network from the main menu to change input delay. The game manual also says the setting can be changed in the lobby. Make a small adjustment, test a match, and change it again only if needed.

Capcom’s manual explains: “The larger the input delay value, the smoother multiplayer will feel, but the delay you experience after making an input will feel longer as a result.” A higher setting can make play feel smoother while making button presses feel less immediate.

The manual also documents a rollback-status gauge that rises or falls when rollback occurs. The Steam product page advertises rollback netcode, but neither rollback nor the gauge guarantees lag-free matches. Use the gauge as an indication of rollback activity, not a complete diagnosis of every cause of perceived delay.
If the game also feels slow offline, check PC performance
Compare your system with the PC requirements listed on the Steam product page. The specifications below are the listing reported in the reviewed source; storefront requirements can change, so check the current listing before relying on them.

Capcom warns that falling below minimum requirements may cause very low frame rates or prevent the game from launching. If your PC meets minimum requirements but not the recommended tier, Capcom advises lowering graphics settings and restarting the game for the changes to take effect.
Check likely performance variables
- Lower graphics settings if performance is poor, then restart the game.
- On a laptop with both integrated and dedicated graphics, check that the game is using the intended GPU.
- If the problem began unexpectedly, check graphics drivers, power settings, and multi-GPU configuration.
- If you suspect missing or damaged game files, Capcom provides instructions for verifying Steam game files.
If the problem happens only in online matches
Test the input-delay setting separately from your connection where possible: change the setting in small steps and compare matches under similar conditions. Avoid concluding that another player’s connection is responsible based only on how a match feels; the symptom alone does not establish a specific cause.

If you play over Wi-Fi, comparing with wired Ethernet is an optional diagnostic—not a required purchase or a guaranteed game-specific fix. Steam lists broadband internet as a PC requirement, while Capcom says network specifications can influence perceived input delay. The official guidance does not provide a universal network-lag cure or a connection-specific diagnostic procedure.

The game offers an online input-delay control and a rollback-status gauge, and its PC requirements provide a way to check whether performance may be a factor. Those tools can help narrow down what you are experiencing, but the reviewed official sources do not establish one fix that resolves every multiplayer delay issue.
