If MC Command Center (MCCC) is not showing up or a feature seems broken, first check that your MCCC release matches your Sims 4 patch, the mod files are in the right folder, and both mod settings are enabled. If MCCC loads but the game reports a Last Exception, test with MCCC alone before blaming it: the official MCCC guidance says these errors are often tied to outdated mods or custom content.
Start by identifying what is not working
Different symptoms point to different checks. If MCCC is absent from the game, start with installation, settings, and version compatibility. If it loads but a feature is hard to observe, enable message logging. If the game reports a Last Exception, isolate other mods and custom content. A settings-write error that names a OneDrive path calls for a separate permissions check.
If MCCC does not appear in the game
Check the folder depth
Place the MCCC files in the Sims 4 Mods folder, no more than one subfolder deep. The documented working example is Mods/MCCC; Mods/ScriptMods/MCCC is too deep for script files to load. The official MCCC troubleshooting page warns that scripts placed too deeply may simply fail to run without producing errors or log files.
Re-enable both mod options after updates
- Open Game Options > Other.
- Enable the general option for custom content and mods, and the option for script mods.
- Apply the changes and restart the game.
An EA game update can reset these settings, so check them after updating even if MCCC worked previously. The official troubleshooting instructions describe both toggles as necessary for mods to run.

Compare your game and MCCC versions
Check your Sims 4 patch number against the compatibility notes on the official MCCC downloads page. At the time of the listed compatibility snapshot, MCCC 2026.5.0 was tested with the September 22, 2026 game patch: PC 1.128.90.1030 and Mac 1.128.90.1230. The listing says the release may work with later updates unless a subsequent notice says otherwise, and cautions that earlier Sims 4 versions may not be compatible. These figures are a dated compatibility reference, not a guarantee for every later patch; check the current listing before changing versions.
After starting the game, look for MCCC’s version and module notification. If it is missing, revisit folder depth, settings, and compatibility rather than assuming the mod loaded successfully. For installation details, see the official installation page.

If MCCC loads but a feature seems inactive
Turn on Message Logging to see relevant messages when the mod runs:
MCCC > MCCC Settings > Notification / Console / Menu Settings > Notification Settings > Message Logging

- Rule your story: Build a powerful Dynasty, shape shared Values, choose an Heir, or exile family members in a deep life simulation driven by legacy, prestige, and choice.
- Claim the crown: Rise through Nobility by winning the people, pleasing rival Nobles, dueling with swords, or exposing Scandals that can change the balance of power.
- Scandal fuels drama: Forbidden romances, secret children, and public disgrace can impact careers, relationships, Dynasty Prestige, and Noble Favor.
Use the messages to check whether the behavior you are investigating is being triggered. Not seeing one particular event does not, by itself, prove that MCCC failed to load; the feature may simply not have produced a message or event in the circumstances you observed.
If the game reports a Last Exception
A Last Exception is a game error worth investigating, even if its effect is not obvious. MCCC’s official FAQ says these errors are often associated with outdated mods or custom content and are rarely caused by MCCC itself. An exception during loading can also prevent MCCC from appearing. Update or remove outdated content, then use a controlled test to narrow down the cause.

- A Different World - Explore StrangerVille, a rural desert town shrouded in secrecy. Encounter weird weather, creepy townies, dangerous plants, odd collectibles, and more.
- Unravel the Story – Immerse your Sim in unique and mysterious events. Unmarked vans appear in neighborhoods, government agents use secret listening devices, and scanners are key in detecting the unusual.
- Crack the Code – Have your Sims investigate using their Military training, searching for clues to solve a mystery that lies within the secret lab.
- Suit Up Your Sim – Get Sims in the mystery-solving mood by gearing them up in desert-inspired clothing and military fatigues, or prepare them for the end with conspiracy-themed clothes, secret agent attire, and a hazmat suit.
Test with MCCC alone
- Close the game.
- Temporarily move all other mods and custom content out of the Sims 4 folder. Leave only MCCC in the Mods folder, placed directly in
Modsfor this test. - Launch the game and check whether the error still occurs.
- If it does not, restore the other content in stages, testing between stages until the error returns. This can identify a specific item or combination.
This is a diagnostic method recommended by the mod author; it does not mean every exception has the same cause. A resource-based mod conflict detector is not a Last Exception analyzer and does not evaluate script mods such as MCCC. The official FAQ distinguishes resource conflicts from errors caused by outdated content.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If changing MCCC settings triggers a permission error
If the message says PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied and names a OneDrive folder, MCCC’s troubleshooting guidance identifies sync-folder permissions as a likely cause. For that specific error, disable syncing for the relevant folder or keep the Sims 4 Mods folder on a physical local drive. Do not apply this as a general fix for errors that do not point to OneDrive.

What to gather before asking for help
Collect the details that let someone distinguish a loading problem from a mod conflict or file-permission issue:
- A screenshot of your Mods folder, showing where MCCC and other content are placed.
- A screenshot of Game Options > Other showing the custom content and script mods settings.
