Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If Monster Hunter Wilds is lagging in multiplayer on PC, first identify what “lag” means: does the displayed frame rate drop or stutter, or do movement and actions arrive late while FPS stays steady? Those are different symptoms and call for different troubleshooting. Capcom documents PC performance checks and a location-specific frame-rate issue; the official sources cited here do not establish a specific fix for network latency or rubber-banding.
First, identify the symptom
Before changing settings, note whether the problem is visible in the frame rate or in online interactions. A falling or unstable FPS points toward local PC performance. If FPS remains steady but other players teleport, or actions respond late, the symptom looks more like network delay. That distinction is a starting point, not a diagnosis.
- Does it happen in solo play as well as online, or only in multiplayer?
- Does the displayed FPS fall when the problem occurs?
- Is it limited to a particular area, especially Base Camp or Grand Hub?
- Is it continuous or intermittent, and do other players appear to teleport or respond late?
Capcom asks players reporting problems to describe where and when they occur, whether they happen constantly or only in particular modes, and whether restarting the game changes the issue. Capcom’s official troubleshooting and issue-reporting thread includes the requested details.
If FPS drops or stutters, try Capcom’s PC checks
Work through these checks one at a time where practical. That makes it easier to see whether a change affects the symptom.

- Fearless ROG Design – The G700’s dual-glass chassis showcases iconic ROG design with the ROG Slash and Aura Sync RGB lighting. Its 58L capacity supports triple-slot GPUs.
- Unstoppable Power – Equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 7 265F processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and 1TB SSD PCIe 4.0 storage for seamless gaming and multitasking.
- Optimized Thermals – Stay cool with a quad-fan system, while dust filters and efficient airflow ensure long-term reliability.
- Advanced Connectivity – Game without lag with 2.5Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, and versatile ports. Dolby Atmos audio and AI noise cancellation enhance sound and communication.
- Ready for Upgrades – Designed with tool-less access, easily swap out components, ensuring future-proof performance for years to come.
- Check the PC requirements. The Steam PC listing specifies broadband internet and an SSD, and lists Windows 10/11 64-bit, DirectX 12, 16 GB system memory, and a GTX 1660 6 GB or RX 5500 XT 8 GB graphics card as minimum. Its recommended graphics cards are an RTX 2060 Super 8 GB or RX 6600 8 GB. The listing’s performance targets depend on graphics settings and frame generation; meeting a listed requirement is not a guarantee of smooth multiplayer. Capcom warns that a PC below minimum specifications may have poor frame rate or fail to run, and suggests lowering graphics settings if the PC meets minimum but not recommended specifications.
- Check the High Resolution Texture Pack, if installed. Capcom says the pack requires at least 16 GB of graphics memory (VRAM). This is separate from the 16 GB system-memory requirement. Capcom warns that insufficient VRAM may make the game unstable while the pack is installed. In Steam, open the game’s Properties > DLC to disable it.
- Update graphics drivers and Windows. Capcom’s troubleshooting thread links to driver guidance and advises considering other supported driver versions if problems continue. Driver guidance in a dated game update may no longer be current; see the version-specific note below.
- Close resource-heavy programs. Capcom warns that applications consuming system resources—including video-recording applications and performance overlays—can compromise performance and stability.
- Check ventilation and heat. Capcom says excessive heat can make operation unstable. Lowering graphics settings or limiting frame rate may reduce heat.
- Verify the game files in Steam. Capcom says Steam checks file checksums and reacquires files that are missing or different.
Why Base Camp or Grand Hub may be a special case
Capcom’s January 2026 update summary documented a system-load issue near the Support Desk at Base Camp and Grand Hub. Checking claimed-content status could increase CPU load and lower FPS in those locations. Capcom said the effect depended on unclaimed content and could also depend on CPU performance; its summary stated that the issue would be resolved with the update. This was a localized frame-rate issue, not evidence that multiplayer network latency was the cause.
The announcement for Ver. 1.040.03.01 was dated January 27, 2026, and scheduled release for January 28, 2026 at 02:00 UTC. It also described Steam-specific CPU/GPU processing improvements, reduced shader-warming activity outside the shader compilation screen, texture-streaming adjustments intended to improve visual quality while reducing VRAM use, and a CPU tab with CPU-load settings.

Keep old driver guidance in context
That January 2026 announcement named NVIDIA GeForce driver 581.57 or newer and AMD Radeon 25.9.1 or 25.9.2 for the most stable experience at that time. It also noted issues with AMD Radeon 25.10.2 and higher, while warning that driver information could change. These are dated recommendations, not a guarantee of compatibility in October 2026. Check newer official game notes and your GPU vendor’s release notes before choosing or rolling back a driver.
If FPS is steady but multiplayer actions are delayed
The official sources cited here do not provide a Wilds-specific fix for rubber-banding, packet loss, or network latency. They also do not establish that a graphics card, router, or game server is responsible for an individual connection problem. Avoid treating graphics changes or a hardware purchase as a proven remedy for delayed online actions. Record whether the issue is limited to online play and describe what other players’ movement and your own actions look like when it occurs.

What to include in a report to Capcom
If the problem persists after the relevant PC checks, Capcom asks for details that can make an issue reproducible:
- CPU, GPU and VRAM, system memory, operating system, graphics-driver version, security software and monitor
- Region, in-game settings, the location and time the issue occurs, and whether it is constant or limited to a mode
- Steps that reproduce the problem, whether restarting changes it, and relevant images or video
Use Capcom’s official troubleshooting and issue-reporting thread for its reporting guidance. The sources cited here do not establish shader-cache deletion, security exclusions, or router changes as fixes for multiplayer latency.
