Start by checking whether Ubisoft’s game servers are available; if they are, troubleshoot your connection and game files. Ubisoft’s support replies do not identify one cause or a guaranteed fix for every player.
What ECHO-8001000B means
Ubisoft community-support replies have associated player reports of ECHO-8001000B with difficulty connecting to Rainbow Six Extraction servers. The replies are historical, from around 2022, and do not establish a single underlying cause. They also do not show that every case is caused by a player’s network or that any one troubleshooting step will resolve it.
Work through these checks in order
1. Check Rainbow Six Extraction service status
Open Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Extraction service-status page when the error appears, then refresh it if needed. Status can change, so an earlier check may no longer reflect current availability. If the service is unavailable or under maintenance, changing local settings is unlikely to help; try again after service returns.
2. Test your connection and network hardware
If the service appears available, try a wired connection if possible. Ubisoft’s general PC connectivity guidance says a wired connection can provide the most reliable and steady results; this is general advice, not a code-specific fix. If you cannot connect by cable, power-cycle your router and modem: turn them off, wait briefly, then turn them back on and allow the connection to recover before launching the game again.

3. Check for software or network restrictions
On PC, Ubisoft recommends a clean boot to test whether another program is interfering with connectivity. Its guidance also suggests running a ping test and considering whether a school, workplace, internet provider, or network administrator restricts connections. If the error occurs on one network but not another, that is useful diagnostic information, but it does not by itself prove the cause.
4. Verify game files on PC
For a player reporting ECHO-8001000B, Ubisoft community support recommended verifying the game files. Use the file-verification option in the launcher where you own or installed the game, then try connecting again. If verification does not resolve the problem, contact Ubisoft Support.

5. Escalate with diagnostic details
If the problem persists, open a Ubisoft Support case and describe when the error occurs, your platform, whether the status page showed an issue, and which connection checks you tried. Ubisoft’s general PC guidance recommends attaching DxDiag and MSInfo reports to a support case for persistent connection problems. Follow Ubisoft’s current instructions before changing firewall or router settings.
How to interpret the results
- The status page reports an outage or maintenance: wait and recheck the live status rather than changing local settings.
- The game works on a wired or alternate network: note the difference for troubleshooting; it is a clue, not confirmation of a particular network fault.
- Other Ubisoft services or games also fail: mention that pattern to support, since it may help distinguish a game-specific issue from a broader connection problem.
- Only Extraction fails and file verification finds a problem: let the launcher complete its repair, then test again.
Should you forward ports or change DNS?
A historical Ubisoft support reply pointed to the game’s connection guide, which includes port-forwarding guidance. That does not mean every player needs port forwarding. Consult Ubisoft’s current instructions and your router documentation before changing network settings. The available guidance does not establish DNS changes, paid VPNs, or reinstalling the operating system as universal fixes for ECHO-8001000B.
