REMATCH is Sloclap’s online third-person football game. This guide applies to the Windows PC versions distributed through Steam and PC Game Pass/Xbox. The exact launcher matters because repair options differ.
1. Check whether REMATCH or matchmaking is currently having trouble
Online failures are not always caused by your PC. REMATCH has received fixes for online crashes, matchmaking behavior, match-found prompts, squads, quick-match behavior, and custom-lobby issues across its updates. Official Season 3 notes, for example, documented matchmaking behavior after voided or cancelled games, while later patch records included platform-wide online-crash fixes and platform-specific connection fixes.

That history does not prove that the service is down now. Online-service health can change hourly, so look at the official REMATCH news, patch notes, and support channels for a current incident or maintenance notice. Also check whether the problem affects:
- only one mode, such as Quick Match or custom lobbies;
- solo play as well as squad play;
- one platform or launcher;
- every player in your group or only you; and
- REMATCH only, or other online games and websites too.
If several players report the same failure immediately after a patch, wait for an official update or service correction rather than repeatedly reinstalling the game. If other online games work and only your REMATCH account or launcher fails, continue with the local steps below.

- Exit REMATCH.
- Quit Steam or the Xbox app/PC Game Pass launcher completely rather than leaving it minimized.
- Restart Windows.
- Power off your modem and router, wait about 30 seconds, and turn them back on. Allow the connection to return before launching the game.
- Start the appropriate launcher, let it finish any pending update, and launch REMATCH again.
This clears temporary launcher, network, and game-session states. It will not repair a defective game build or a server-side outage, but it is a safe first test.
3. Verify the REMATCH installation before reinstalling
On Steam, file verification can repair missing or damaged installation files and is preferable to immediately downloading the entire game again.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click REMATCH and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the process to finish, then restart Steam and test the game.
Steam notes that one or more configuration files may fail verification normally and can generally be ignored. If Steam reacquires files, test REMATCH before changing anything else.
For the Xbox app or PC Game Pass version, use the game’s installation-management options and choose the available Repair option before selecting Reset or reinstalling. The labels can vary by Xbox app version. If Repair is unavailable or does not help, check for pending Xbox app, Gaming Services, and Windows updates, then use the launcher’s official support process.

Check antivirus quarantine without weakening security
Security software can sometimes quarantine a game executable or another installation file. Open your antivirus history and confirm whether a REMATCH file was actually detected. Do not permanently disable antivirus protection or add a broad exception just to make the game launch.
If the detection is confirmed as a false positive and the file is trusted, follow the security vendor’s documented restore and narrowly scoped exception process. Then verify the game files again so the launcher can reacquire anything deleted or corrupted. If you cannot establish that the file is safe, leave it quarantined and contact the game or security vendor.
4. Update Windows and the graphics driver safely
Install pending Windows updates, restart the PC, and obtain the latest graphics driver from AMD, NVIDIA, or Intel—the manufacturer of your GPU. Current operating-system and hardware drivers are a standard first step for games that fail to launch or crash.
If REMATCH began failing immediately after a graphics-driver update, record the driver version and use the manufacturer’s supported rollback procedure if one is available. Avoid random “patched” drivers, unofficial download sites, registry cleaners, and driver-cleaning tools as first-line fixes.

For a controller, sound device, Wi-Fi adapter, or other peripheral that is malfunctioning, update that device through Windows Update or the device manufacturer’s official support page. A missing or corrupted peripheral driver can cause hardware-specific glitches, but it is less likely to explain a general REMATCH server or matchmaking problem.
5. Close overlays and background programs for one test launch
Non-essential software can interfere with game startup, rendering, input, networking, or anti-cheat components. For one diagnostic launch, close or disable:

Do not treat this as a permanent requirement. If REMATCH works after closing one program, re-enable programs one at a time to identify the conflict. Keep the operating system, launcher, and security software updated.
Anti-cheat errors
If the game displays a specific anti-cheat error, follow the repair instructions supplied by the game or platform. Use the anti-cheat files included with the installation. Do not download an unrelated anti-cheat installer from a third-party website.
6. Confirm that your PC meets the official baseline
The Steam listing specifies the following Windows PC requirements:

Meeting the minimum specification does not guarantee a stable launch or smooth performance. A system close to the minimum can still struggle because of background applications, thermal throttling, driver problems, low free storage, or a Windows configuration issue.
Check the following specifically:
- Windows is 64-bit and fully updated.
- DirectX 12 is supported by the graphics hardware and driver.
- The game is installed on an SSD with more than the listed minimum free space available.
- At least 8 GB of RAM is available, with 16 GB preferable for the recommended target.
- The dedicated GPU, rather than an unintended integrated GPU, is being used when the PC has more than one graphics processor.
7. Test your network before changing advanced settings
For connection errors, disconnects, or endless matchmaking, first separate a local network problem from a REMATCH service problem:
- Open ordinary websites and test another online game or service.
- Restart the PC, launcher, and modem/router.
- Temporarily disconnect a VPN or proxy.
- If possible, connect the PC directly to the router with Ethernet and try REMATCH again.
- Run Windows network troubleshooting.
A wired test can reveal whether unstable Wi-Fi is contributing to disconnects. It cannot repair a server outage, a faulty matchmaking build, or an account-side problem.

If your PC has a working Ethernet port, an optional Cat 6 Ethernet cable is a simple way to perform that temporary diagnostic test. It is not a REMATCH performance upgrade and cannot fix server-side problems. If your laptop or desktop has no usable Ethernet port, a USB Ethernet adapter for PC can provide the same test, provided its driver is supported by your version of Windows.

Use Windows Network reset only as a last resort
Microsoft’s Network reset removes and reinstalls network adapters and returns network settings to their defaults. Use it only after restarting, testing another connection, and running normal Windows troubleshooting have failed.
Before using it, note that Network reset can require VPN clients, Hyper-V virtual switches, and other networking software to be configured again. Restart Windows afterward and test the connection before reinstalling any networking tools.

Reinstalling is reasonable when verification repeatedly finds damaged files, the installation is incomplete, the launcher cannot repair it, or the game remains unable to start after driver and conflict testing. It is not a guaranteed fix for matchmaking or a current online-service defect.
Before reinstalling:
- write down the exact error message;
- confirm that the problem is not affecting other players;
- check that the launcher is updated;
- make sure enough SSD space is available; and
- verify that antivirus has not repeatedly quarantined the same file.
After reinstalling, launch REMATCH once with overlays, VPNs, and optional utilities closed. If it still fails in exactly the same way, the evidence points away from a simple corrupted installation.
