If Ghost Recon Wildlands says it can’t connect to Ubisoft servers and shows Ribera-40002, start with low-risk connection checks: close and relaunch the game, confirm your device is online, and try again after a short wait. The code is reported alongside online and co-op connection problems, but the available information does not establish one cause or a guaranteed fix. Check Ubisoft’s current support channels for service updates before changing router settings.
What Ribera-40002 means in Wildlands
Players report seeing Ribera-40002 when Wildlands cannot connect to Ubisoft services. Reported effects include trouble playing online, joining a friend’s co-op session, or syncing contacts. These are player-reported symptoms, not a confirmed technical definition of the error code.

The error alone does not show whether the cause is a temporary service problem, an individual connection issue, or something else. Recent player discussion includes different experiences, including reports that one person can connect while another player on the same connection cannot. Community reports cannot confirm whether Ubisoft services are currently down.
Try these low-risk checks first
- Fully close Wildlands and relaunch it. Then retry the online feature that failed.
- Check that your console or PC is online. If other online functions are also unavailable, resolve that connection issue before troubleshooting Wildlands specifically.
- Wait briefly and try again. A temporary connection problem may clear, but this is not a guaranteed fix.
- If co-op is affected, ask your friend to check their connection too. Ubisoft support’s historical advice was for both players to follow its connectivity troubleshooting instructions.
Use Ubisoft’s official support site to find current connectivity guidance for your platform and region. Menu names and available checks can vary by device.
#1 Best Overall
- Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is the very first military shooter in a massive, dangerous, and responsive open world that you can play entirely solo or in four-player co-op.
- Bienvenidos a Bolivia: From the infamous Death Road to the world's largest salt flat, journey through Ubisoft's largest open world action-adventure game to date.
- Become a Ghost: Lead a team of four Ghosts, the absolute best of the US military. Play either solo or with up to three of your friends online in this gritty adventure as they seamlessly join you at any point in the game.
- Takedown the Santa Blanca cartel: The Santa Blanca cartel and its infamous leader, El Sueño, are the most powerful, treacherous, and imposing foes the Ghosts have ever faced.
What Ubisoft support has said
In a Wildlands Steam player-support discussion on June 30, 2022, Ubisoft Support staff member Ubi-Nacho said the game team was investigating error codes at that time and recommended troubleshooting to rule out user-side issues. Ubisoft Support staff member Ubi-Froggard also advised both affected friends to follow the connectivity troubleshooting steps. This is dated guidance, not confirmation of an active investigation or current service status.
If the basic checks do not help, you can contact Ubisoft Support through its support site. Include your platform, region, approximate time of the error, whether other online features work, and whether a second player on the same network is affected. Those details can help support distinguish the symptoms without assuming a cause.
Should you change squad privacy or Wi-Fi settings?
An August 2022 third-party guide describes player-reported experiments with squad privacy and Wi-Fi band or channel settings. These are anecdotal workarounds, not official, broadly verified fixes, and they may not apply to every platform or network setup.
- If you choose to test a setting, change only one thing at a time so you can tell whether it affects the error.
- Note the original setting first and restore it if there is no benefit.
- Avoid making broad router changes based only on a community suggestion; check your router maker’s guidance if you are unsure what a setting does.
When to stop troubleshooting locally
If Wildlands still cannot connect after the basic checks, or only one player in a co-op pair is affected, avoid treating Ribera-40002 as proof that your router or device is faulty. Check Ubisoft’s official support channels for current information and send support the platform, region, time, affected online features, and whether another player on the same connection has the same problem.
