If your Roblox camera feels wrong, first check the experience’s Settings > Camera Mode, then confirm the control for your device. Try Classic for a manually controlled third-person view or Follow for a view that responds to avatar movement, if those options are available. Some experiences restrict or script their camera, so a player setting may not be changeable or may not work as expected.
Check whether the issue is limited to one experience
Notice whether the camera behaves unexpectedly in just one experience or in several. If it happens in one place, that experience may have chosen a camera mode or added camera scripts. Roblox’s player guidance says players can switch between Classic and Follow unless the developer has locked the mode; a missing or unavailable option is not something you can necessarily override.
Roblox’s documentation describes standard settings and intended controls, but it does not offer one universal repair for symptoms such as a spinning camera, cursor capture, or device-specific input trouble. To narrow down what is happening, note your device, the experience, the selected camera mode, and whether the same behavior occurs elsewhere.
Choose a camera mode that matches the view you want
Roblox uses two related but distinct kinds of camera setting: CameraMode, which determines whether the camera can leave first person, and a camera movement mode, which determines how it moves around the character. The labels overlap, so “Classic” can refer to different parts of the configuration.

- With broad game support, the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with old standbys to today's biggest titles, so it's easy to set up and use with your favorite games.
- Profiler software allows the gamepad to be programmed to perform keyboard and mouse commands for games without gamepad support.* * Requires software installation.
- A familiar control layout that doesn't require a learning curve to be able to use, with all the same buttons as on an Xbox 360.
- The unique floating D-pad rests on four switches-instead of a single pivot point-making it responsive to quick changes in direction.
- The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.
CameraMode: Classic or LockFirstPerson
Classic allows a third-person view that can be zoomed toward first person. LockFirstPerson keeps the player in first-person mode. This setting does not, by itself, describe every way the camera rotates around the character. See Roblox’s CameraMode enum and camera configuration documentation.
Movement mode: Classic or Follow
Classic lets the player orbit and pitch the view while it tracks the character. Follow can rotate slightly to face the character when the character moves in a direction that is not parallel to the camera’s direction. Roblox Support describes switching between these modes where the experience has not locked the choice. In that setting, “The camera will move based on the player’s in-game camera settings.”

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
To try a different mode, open the Roblox menu while in the experience, go to Settings > Camera Mode, and select Classic or Follow if offered. Move and turn your avatar briefly to see whether the camera response changes. Roblox’s Support article on keyboard and mouse controls is in Spanish; the player-facing settings guidance described here is limited to the available support excerpt.
Use the control for your device
| Device | Move the view | Zoom |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse and keyboard | Hold the right mouse button and drag. | Scroll the mouse wheel, or press I and O. |
| Gamepad | Use the secondary thumbstick. | Not stated in the cited Roblox controls source. |
| Touch | Drag on the screen. | Pinch. |
These are Roblox’s documented default camera inputs, not a guarantee that every experience exposes every action in the same way. The controls documentation also notes that pressing Shift toggles mouse lock when the experience enables that option; it is not a universal camera repair.

Understand what happens when scenery blocks the view
Occlusion settings determine how the camera responds when an object blocks the view of the character. They affect visibility behind geometry, not mouse sensitivity or a stuck camera control.
| Occlusion mode | Documented behavior |
|---|---|
| Zoom | Moves the camera closer to the character when an obstruction meets the documented transparency condition. |
| Invisicam | Leaves the camera in place and makes the obstruction semi-transparent under its documented condition. |
The transparency condition matters: these descriptions do not mean every object will always trigger the same response. Roblox lists these settings in its camera configuration documentation.

Creator checks in Roblox Studio
If you are configuring an experience, inspect the camera properties under StarterPlayer before treating unexpected behavior as a client-side issue. Roblox documents properties for the allowed zoom range, CameraMode, occlusion, and computer and touch camera movement.
- CameraMode: choose whether players can use third person or are locked to first person.
- CameraMinZoomDistance and CameraMaxZoomDistance: set the permitted zoom range.
- DevCameraOcclusionMode: choose how the camera responds to obstructions.
- DevComputerCameraMovementMode and DevTouchCameraMovementMode: configure movement behavior for computer and touch input.
Then review any LocalScripts that access CurrentCamera or set CameraType to Scriptable; custom camera scripts can override default behavior. Roblox’s camera documentation and basic camera controls tutorial explain the built-in configuration and scripting context.

When the cursor is stuck during a Studio playtest
This is a Studio testing note, not a general remedy for a live experience. Roblox’s tutorial says to press Escape to free the mouse, or Shift+F5 to end the playtest.
Free camera is for creators, not ordinary gameplay troubleshooting
Roblox documents free camera for Studio playtests and for live-client use by the experience owner or a user with edit permission. It is toggled with Left Shift+P; enhanced controls require the Input Action System rollout. This creator tool is not a general player fix for a camera that feels stuck or behaves unexpectedly. See Roblox’s free camera documentation.
