There isn’t one fix for a Roblox “moving glitch”: the right step depends on whether your avatar is stuck, keeps moving after you let go, jitters, or snaps back. First check whether it happens in one experience or across several, then follow the matching steps below.
Start by identifying the movement problem
Notice what the character is doing and when it happens. A character trapped in a wall is different from one that drifts after you release the controls; jitter and rubber-banding can also have different causes.
- Stuck: Your avatar is wedged in a wall, floor, or platform.
- Drifting: Your avatar continues moving after you stop pressing a key or touching a control.
- Jittering: Movement looks uneven or stuttery.
- Snapping or delayed: Your avatar moves late or jumps back to an earlier position.
Also compare the scope: does the issue happen only in one experience, or in several? This helps distinguish an experience or server issue from a control, device, or connection problem.
If your avatar is stuck in geometry
Open the Roblox menu and select Respawn. Roblox Corporation says this returns your character to the experience’s designated spawn point, which may be a recent checkpoint. Some experiences may count a respawn as a death, so consider whether that could affect your score, progress, or rewards before choosing it. Roblox Corporation’s Google Play editorial recommends respawning when a character is caught in geometry.

If movement continues after you release the controls
Check whether an input is still being registered before assuming the Roblox client or a particular device is faulty. On Android, a secondary troubleshooting guide lists stuck touch input, controller drift, and overlays as possibilities—not confirmed causes. Android Experto’s Android guide suggests checking inputs and changing one variable at a time.
- Release all controls and check whether a key is physically held or a touch control remains active.
- If you use a controller, disconnect it temporarily and test with another input method, if available.
- Close overlays that might be interacting with touch controls, then test again.
- Leave and rejoin the experience. If the problem continues, restart Roblox.
- Try another experience or server. If the issue is limited to one experience, that narrows where to investigate; it does not by itself prove the cause.
If your avatar jitters, moves late, or snaps back
These symptoms can be consistent with network instability, but that is not established without a comparison. Leave and join a different server, then compare your connection using Wi-Fi and mobile data or another available network. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether the symptom changes.

If the movement looks jittery on Android in particular, lower Roblox’s graphics settings and retest. Android Experto suggests this as a way to check whether performance or frame drops may be affecting how movement looks; it is a diagnostic step, not proof that graphics settings are the cause.
If the problem seems to affect the whole server
If objects or other parts of the experience are malfunctioning as well as your character, leave and rejoin. Roblox Corporation’s guidance says rejoining places you in a new server; respawning only moves your character and won’t address a problem that extends beyond its position. For Roblox Studio developers: check movement on custom floors
If you are building an experience and its default character keeps moving after a key is released, a September 2026 Developer Forum discussion raised low floor friction or unusual physical properties as possible leads. This is a community hypothesis, not a confirmed general diagnosis. Inspect your own floor and physical-property setup rather than treating the suggestion as a player-side fix. A separate character-controller library discussion mentions slipping on steep slopes in a specific controller context. That lead matters only if your experience uses that controller and the symptom occurs on a slope; the available discussion does not establish that either condition applies.
