Start by identifying whether Stellar Blade will not launch, crashes at a particular moment, or runs with low or uneven frame rates. Update the game, compare your PC with the target for the resolution and settings you want, then test one change at a time. Official patches have fixed several specific problems, but they do not establish one cause—or one universal fix—for every crash or stutter.
Identify the problem before changing settings
Different symptoms point to different checks. Note whether the game fails to launch, crashes at a repeatable point, crashes when entering Photo Mode, stays at a low frame rate, or stutters intermittently even when average FPS seems reasonable.

Before troubleshooting, record the exact error text, game version, CPU, GPU and VRAM, system RAM, installation drive type, resolution, graphics preset, and whether an upscaler or frame generation is enabled. Note your GPU driver version, too. If other demanding games have similar problems, that is useful context when deciding whether to focus on Stellar Blade or on the wider system.

Steam’s current listing specifies these minimum and recommended configurations. The FPS figures are target descriptions tied to each listed hardware tier, not guaranteed results on every machine.

| Steam tier | Listed processor and graphics card | Memory, OS, and storage | Target and drive note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Intel Core i5-7600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB | Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, 75 GB storage | 1080p, Low, 60 FPS target; HDD supported, SSD recommended |
| Recommended | Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT | Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, 75 GB storage | 1440p, Medium, 60 FPS target; SSD required |
Steam’s Stellar Blade listing distinguishes these tiers, so compare your hardware with the one that matches your intended resolution and preset. Meeting minimum requirements does not mean the PC is specified for the recommended 1440p Medium target.
PlayStation’s May 15, 2025 PC launch announcement also describes 1080p Low, 1440p Medium, 1440p High, and 4K Very High tiers, each with a 60 FPS target. Those are published targets, not independent performance measurements for your particular PC. The PC version supports NVIDIA DLSS 4 and AMD FSR3 features; what performance you get depends on hardware and settings. See the PlayStation PC launch announcement.

Update the game and check for a matching known issue
Install the latest game update through the store you use, then check whether the symptom matches a documented fix. Official patch notes name several particular issues:
Recommended Free Tools
- Version 1.3.0 fixed an occasional crash when entering Photo Mode.
- Version 1.1.2 fixed a launch issue affecting users with certain graphics cards.
- Version 1.3.1 addressed incorrect detection of Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling that disabled FSR and DLSS Frame Generation on certain systems.
These patch notes describe specific cases; they do not show that unrelated crashes, low FPS, or stutter have the same cause. The reported fixes are in the official Stellar Blade Steam announcements.

If frame generation is unavailable on Windows 10
Use the Windows 10 steps in the version 1.3.1 notes only if you are dealing with the documented setting-detection problem or unavailable frame generation:
- Search Windows for Graphics Settings and open that settings page.
- Enable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.
- Restart the PC and check whether the frame-generation option is available.
This setting is not a general remedy for crashes or low FPS. The instructions and scope are described in the official patch announcement.

Test low FPS and stutter with controlled changes
First compare your resolution and preset with the target tiers above. If your PC is below the tier for your chosen settings, lower the resolution or preset and retest before considering an upgrade. This is a way to check whether the current performance target is a poor fit; it does not diagnose every cause of uneven frame pacing.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Record your current resolution, preset, upscaling mode, frame-generation setting, average FPS, and whether motion feels smooth or uneven.
- Change one setting, such as resolution or preset, and repeat the same gameplay section.
- Compare both the FPS and the stutter. Keep a change only if it improves the result you care about.
- Test an upscaler supported by your GPU as a separate comparison. The official PC materials list DLSS 4 and FSR3 upscaling and frame generation; they also list a disabled frame-rate limit.
- Evaluate frame generation separately from base rendering performance. A smoother-looking result is not guaranteed to resolve stutter or improve responsiveness on every system.
Changing one variable at a time makes it easier to tell what helped. Changing several settings together can make a result harder to interpret.

Check storage, and consider upgrades only after testing
Steam supports an HDD at the minimum tier and recommends an SSD there; the recommended tier requires an SSD. Check that the installation drive meets the relevant requirement and has the listed 75 GB of storage available. The requirement does not mean an SSD will fix crashes or raise FPS in every case.
Consider a GPU upgrade only after comparing your current card with the target for the resolution and preset you want, updating the game, and trying reversible settings changes. The listed GPUs help orient that comparison; they are not an individualized upgrade prescription.
When the problem continues
If the game still fails after updating, note whether the failure is repeatable and keep the error text and system details you recorded. For low FPS or stutter, retain the results of each settings comparison, including the resolution and preset. Those details help distinguish a documented issue from a hardware-target mismatch or a problem that the cited patch notes do not cover.
