The first fix is identifying which problem you have. Compare your PC with Ubisoft’s matching target tier, then test resolution, preset, ray tracing and upscaling one variable at a time. Ubisoft’s targets already assume an upscaler set to Quality, so a system that meets the listed hardware is not promised native-resolution 60 FPS.
Start by separating insufficient hardware from a settings problem
“Low FPS” and “stuttering” are related but not identical. A graphics card that cannot sustain the selected resolution and preset produces a consistently low frame rate. Stutter is an uneven delivery of frames: the displayed FPS may look acceptable while movement repeatedly hitches. A PC can also have both problems.

Use this order of checks:
- Write down the target: resolution, graphics preset, desired frame rate and whether ray-traced effects are enabled.
- Compare your hardware with Ubisoft’s tier for that target. The published FPS figures are target specifications, not independent benchmark results.
- Confirm the game is on an SSD. Ubisoft Store and Steam both list SSD storage as a requirement; storage is a conditional check, not a universal stutter cure.
- Test one rendering change at a time. Upscaling, frame generation, ray tracing and an uncapped frame rate can each change the workload and frame pacing.
If your system is below the minimum tier, no setting combination can turn it into a system that meets Ubisoft’s stated 1080p/30 target. If it meets or exceeds the relevant tier, the controlled tests below can show whether the issue is the chosen workload, a feature interaction or a problem that needs official support.

The same 16 GB figure does not make these tiers interchangeable. GPU class and VRAM, CPU model, resolution, preset and storage type all change the workload. Do not treat the table as a ranking of graphics cards: Ubisoft does not publish comparative benchmark results here.
You can cross-check the retailer listings at the Ubisoft Store and Steam. Their SSD requirement is especially relevant if the game is installed on a hard disk drive.
What the FPS targets actually mean
1080p/30 minimum is not native 1080p
The minimum specification is a 30-FPS target at 1080p on Low with an upscaler set to Quality. Quality upscaling renders internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs the output, so matching the listed GTX 1660, RX 5600 XT or Arc A750 does not establish that native 1080p will hold 30 FPS in every scene.
1080p/60 recommended is also an upscaled target
The recommended specification targets 60 FPS at 1080p on High with Quality upscaling. If you disable the upscaler, raise its quality mode beyond the stated setting, or enable expensive ray-traced effects, you are asking for a workload different from Ubisoft’s recommendation.

1440p and 4K targets need larger GPU margins
The 1440p/60 High and 4K/60 Ultra tiers specify substantially faster GPUs. They should be used as workload references, not guarantees for every area, driver version or feature combination. The supplied specifications do not provide independent frame-time or benchmark data.
Use a controlled graphics test
Make a short repeatable route in the same location, then change one setting and repeat it. Record the displayed FPS and, more importantly, whether the hitch occurs at the same camera movement or traversal point. This prevents a busy scene from being mistaken for a setting improvement.
1. Return to a known baseline
- Select the resolution and preset that correspond to your hardware tier.
- Set the upscaler to Quality, because that is the mode used in Ubisoft’s 1080p targets.
- Leave frame rate uncapped initially if the game is configured that way; Ubisoft lists uncapped frame rates as a supported option.
- Write down ray-traced global illumination, reflections and shadows, plus any NVIDIA RTX Dynamic Illumination setting, so you can restore the baseline.
This baseline is diagnostic, not a promise that every PC will be smooth at the published number.

2. Test resolution and preset before advanced features
If the frame rate is consistently below your target, lower the output resolution or move from High to Low and retest. A clear improvement indicates that the selected workload is beyond the system’s current headroom. If changing the preset barely changes the hitch, the problem may not be ordinary GPU load; note that result for the next checks and for support.

3. Compare upscalers on your hardware
Ubisoft lists NVIDIA DLSS 3.5, Intel XeSS 1.3 and AMD FSR 3.0. Use the technology appropriate to your GPU when available, keep the output resolution and preset fixed, and compare the same route. A supported feature is not a guaranteed fix: image reconstruction quality and frame pacing can vary by GPU and scene.
Do not claim that one of these technologies is universally fastest or smoothest. The published material identifies availability, not a cross-hardware benchmark.
4. Treat frame generation as a separate experiment
DLSS and FSR versions listed by Ubisoft include frame-generation capabilities, but generated frames do not replace the work needed to render the underlying game frames. Test with frame generation disabled and enabled while keeping the base settings identical. If the counter rises but controls still feel delayed or the hitch remains, keep the setting off for your target rather than treating the higher number as a complete solution.

5. Isolate ray-traced effects
The game supports ray-traced global illumination, reflections and shadows, as well as NVIDIA RTX Dynamic Illumination. Disable these effects temporarily, run the same route, then re-enable them individually. A large change points to ray-tracing cost; no change suggests you should continue investigating resolution, upscaling, storage or software support rather than repeatedly lowering unrelated options.

6. Check an uncapped-versus-limited comparison
Because uncapped frame rates are supported, compare the game’s uncapped result with a conservative cap that your system can sustain. A cap can make a stable workload easier to maintain, but the available specifications do not establish one universal cap value or prove that capping fixes every stutter. Keep whichever mode produces consistent delivery on your display and hardware, and document the setting when reporting a problem.
Verify storage before buying hardware
Both the Ubisoft Store listing and Steam listing specify a 65 GB SSD installation requirement in their PC requirements. If the game is on a mechanical hard drive, moving it to a suitable SSD brings the installation in line with the stated requirement and is a reasonable conditional upgrade.
The evidence does not establish an SSD replacement as a general solution for all stuttering. If the game already meets the SSD requirement, buying another drive should not be your first troubleshooting step; continue with the controlled graphics tests and official support route.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck software and version context without assuming a universal fix
Ubisoft’s official performance-support page directs PC players to general troubleshooting guidance, but the detailed procedures were not available in the page content used for this guide. Use the Ubisoft Help performance article for the current instructions and follow its version-specific steps rather than relying on an anecdote presented as an official fix.

Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.5.1 announcement, dated February 6, 2025, records NVIDIA 50-series support and DLSS 4 features on PC. That announcement confirms those changes for that update; it does not prove that 1.5.1 is the latest game version in October 2026. Check the launcher’s installed version and Ubisoft’s current update notes before attributing a problem to an old build.
Match symptoms to the next action
Low FPS everywhere
- Compare your GPU and CPU with the tier matching your resolution and preset.
- Restore Quality upscaling and test a lower preset.
- Disable ray-traced effects temporarily.
- If performance remains below the minimum target, the practical answer is a lower workload or hardware that meets the target tier, not a hidden “stutter fix.”
Good FPS with regular hitches while moving
- Confirm the installation is on an SSD.
- Repeat the same route with frame generation off, then with it on.
- Compare uncapped and conservatively capped output.
- Record whether the hitch follows a particular effect or location and include that information in a support request.
Hitches only after enabling a feature
Return to the baseline, then re-enable the upscaler, frame generation, ray tracing and other options one at a time. Keep the feature that meets your visual and frame-pacing needs; support for a technology does not mean every GPU benefits equally.
Performance changed after an update
Record the game version, GPU, driver version, resolution, preset and feature state before changing several variables. Consult Ubisoft’s current patch notes and support page. The February 6, 2025 1.5.1 announcement is a historical reference, not a statement about the newest release in 2026.

- A higher average FPS does not automatically mean smoother frame delivery.
- Meeting the minimum GPU name does not guarantee native-resolution performance; Ubisoft’s minimum target uses Quality upscaling.
- Turning on frame generation can raise the displayed rate without removing a base-rendering bottleneck.
- Ray-tracing support means the feature exists, not that a particular card can run every ray-traced option at 60 FPS.
- These specifications are targets from Ubisoft, not independent benchmark rankings.
When to escalate to Ubisoft support
After the baseline and one-variable tests, gather a concise report: CPU and GPU models, VRAM, 16 GB dual-channel status or other memory configuration, Windows and DirectX version, game version, SSD location, resolution, preset, upscaler and mode, frame-generation state, ray-traced options, and a description of when the hitch occurs. Include which controlled change helped or failed. That information lets support distinguish a system below target from a reproducible software problem without implying that an unverified community tweak is universal.
Bottom line
Start with the official tier that matches your intended resolution and preset. Meet the SSD requirement, use Quality upscaling for an apples-to-apples comparison, and isolate ray tracing, frame generation and uncapped output instead of changing everything at once. If your hardware is below the minimum, reduce the workload or upgrade; if it meets the target and still stutters after these controlled tests, use Ubisoft’s current support guidance with a complete configuration report.
