Quick fix: follow these steps first
- Check Roblox’s service status. A service outage can make local troubleshooting pointless. A green global status page does not rule out a regional, account-specific, or network-specific problem, so treat it as a useful first check rather than a guarantee.
- Restart the device. Close Roblox, your browser, any Roblox installer window, and other programs before restarting.
- Reinstall Roblox from the official Roblox website. Do not use a third-party installer, modified client, cracked launcher, or download mirror.
- If the loop remains, perform a clean reinstall: uninstall Roblox, restart the computer, clear temporary internet files and cookies, and install Roblox again from the official website.
- Check security and network software. Antivirus, firewalls, internet-security suites, router restrictions, VPNs, DNS filters, and school or workplace network controls can block the Roblox client from communicating with Roblox servers.
- Identify which failure you have. If the installer never completes, troubleshoot installation and permissions. If Roblox is installed but your browser still says “Install Roblox,” troubleshoot the browser handoff and launcher association instead.
Windows: the recommended troubleshooting sequence
1. Confirm that the computer meets Roblox’s requirements
Roblox’s computer client supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. Before assuming the computer needs replacing, check:
- Open Settings > System > About and confirm the Windows edition and whether the system is 64-bit.
- Open Settings > System > Storage and make sure there is free space. Roblox lists approximately 300 MB of system storage for installation, although leaving additional free space is sensible for Windows, updates, and temporary files.
- Confirm that the computer is not running Linux. Roblox does not officially support Linux.
- Check whether the computer is managed by a school, employer, family-safety tool, or security product that may restrict software installation or network traffic.
A computer that launches other modern applications normally does not automatically need a new SSD, laptop, graphics card, or network adapter. Hardware replacement is relevant only when the device fails the documented requirements, lacks usable storage, or has a broader hardware or operating-system fault.
2. Restart before reinstalling
Restart Windows before trying the installation again. This clears installers and background processes that may still have a file open, and it gives pending Windows or security-software operations a chance to finish.

3. Perform a normal reinstall
Open the official Roblox website, sign in, start an experience, and use the official installation prompt when Roblox asks for the player. Allow the downloaded installer to finish rather than repeatedly launching several copies of it.
The purpose of this step is to replace missing or damaged Roblox files. If the installation completes but the browser immediately asks you to install Roblox again, skip to the browser handoff section; that is a different failure mode.
4. Escalate to a clean reinstall
If the ordinary reinstall returns to the same loop:
- Uninstall Roblox through Settings > Apps > Installed apps on Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features on supported Windows 10 versions.
- Restart the computer after the uninstall finishes.
- Clear temporary browser files and cookies. In most browsers, open the privacy or history settings and clear cached files and cookies for the relevant browsing period. This can sign you out of websites.
- Restart the browser, visit the official Roblox website, and install Roblox again.
Roblox’s reinstall guidance specifically includes uninstalling, restarting, and clearing temporary internet files. You do not need to delete arbitrary Windows folders or edit the registry to perform this official troubleshooting step. Registry cleaners and random “gaming repair” scripts can create a second problem without addressing the original installation failure.

5. Check antivirus, firewall, and internet-security settings
Security software can mistake Roblox’s installer or client traffic for unwanted activity. Look in your security product for an area named something like App permissions, Allowed apps, Exceptions, or Allow-list, and allow the official Roblox application if it is being blocked.
Do not leave antivirus or firewall protection disabled. If you need to test whether security software is responsible, use only a short, controlled diagnostic test, avoid visiting unrelated websites during it, and restore normal protection immediately afterward. A better long-term fix is an application exception or policy approved by the device administrator.
Routers, parental-control services, DNS filters, VPNs, and managed Wi-Fi can also interfere. Roblox uses dynamically selected outgoing ports rather than one single fixed client port. Reinstalling the application repeatedly will not fix a network that blocks the required traffic.

This symptom is not necessarily an installation failure. It means the installer may have completed, but the browser did not successfully hand the play request to the installed Roblox client.
If the installer never completes
Focus on:
- uninstalling and reinstalling Roblox;
- restarting between uninstall and reinstall;
- clearing temporary browser files and cookies;
- checking available storage and account permissions;
- checking antivirus, firewall, VPN, and network filtering; and
- trying the official website in a supported, up-to-date browser.
If Roblox installs but Play still shows “Install”
Focus on the browser-to-launcher connection:
- Close and reopen the browser after installation.
- Make sure you are using the same computer account that installed Roblox.
- Try starting an experience from the official Roblox website again and approve the prompt to open Roblox if the browser displays one.
- Check whether browser privacy, pop-up, download, or application-launch settings are preventing the handoff.
- Try another current browser to determine whether the problem is browser-specific.
Older Roblox support material discusses a launcher-plugin model for Firefox and Safari. Modern Chrome and Edge do not support that old plugin model, so installing an old plugin or searching for a replacement plugin is not the correct general fix. On Safari, browser JavaScript and website settings may affect the handoff; on Firefox, launcher behavior and permission prompts may need attention. Browser labels can change between versions, so avoid downloading an unofficial plugin that claims to repair Roblox.
macOS
On macOS, begin with the same official sequence: restart the Mac, close Roblox and the browser, reinstall Roblox from the official Roblox website, and keep other applications closed while the installer runs.
If the loop continues, remove Roblox using the normal application-uninstall process, restart the Mac, clear the browser’s cached website data and cookies, and install the official client again. If macOS or a security utility asks whether to allow Roblox to run or access required resources, review the prompt carefully and use an administrator account when appropriate.

iPhone and iPad: fix an App Store update loop separately
An iPhone or iPad that shows Open in the App Store while Roblox continues asking for an update has a different problem from a Windows installation loop. The App Store may be displaying stale update information.
- Open the App Store.
- Tap the same bottom navigation icon ten times to clear the App Store’s cache.
- Force-close the App Store.
- Open the App Store again.
- Find Roblox and update it directly from the App Store rather than following the in-app update prompt.
Keep iOS or iPadOS current where possible, and consider enabling automatic app updates so Roblox does not remain out of date. Roblox’s mobile requirements specify iOS/iPadOS 14 or later; an older operating system may not be able to install or update the current app.
Android and Amazon Fire tablets
First identify the exact device model and operating-system version. Android settings differ substantially between Samsung, Google, Motorola, Amazon, and other devices, so a universal cache-clearing menu path can be wrong.

Roblox lists Android 8.0 or later with OpenGL ES 3.0 support for Android devices. It also lists supported generations of Amazon Fire tablets. If the device is older or unsupported, an install or update loop may be a compatibility problem rather than damaged Roblox data.
For a supported device, use the operating system’s normal app-management controls to check for Roblox updates, available storage, and app permissions. Clear Roblox’s cache only after confirming the device and Android version; avoid deleting app data unless you are prepared to sign in again and understand what the action removes. If the App Store or Google Play itself is stuck, troubleshoot that store separately rather than applying Windows installer steps.
Meta Quest and other supported devices
If you are installing Roblox in virtual reality rather than on a computer or phone, use the device-specific store and requirements. Roblox documents support for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3, while Meta Quest 1 is not supported. A device-specific compatibility failure cannot be repaired by reinstalling the Windows client.

A managed network can allow the Roblox website to open while blocking the endpoints or traffic needed to download, update, authenticate, or launch an experience. Roblox’s education-network guidance identifies domains and services involving the website, API, setup process, CDN, CAPTCHA, and asset delivery. It also states that experience launching does not currently support proxies and that sessions use UDP ports 49152–65535.
If the loop happens only on school or workplace Wi-Fi, stop reinstalling Roblox and contact the network administrator. Ask them to review the organization’s Roblox allow-list and outbound network policy. You may not have permission to change these settings yourself, and attempting to bypass them could violate the organization’s rules.

A useful diagnostic comparison is to try Roblox on a permitted personal network, such as mobile data or home Wi-Fi, without changing the Roblox installation. If it works there, the managed network is the stronger suspect. Do not use that test to evade school or workplace restrictions; use it to provide useful evidence to the administrator.
What not to do
- Do not buy Robux or a Roblox gift card. Credits and Robux are for Roblox purchases; they do not repair or install the client.
- Do not buy hardware without a diagnosis. A new laptop, SSD, USB drive, Ethernet adapter, or Wi-Fi adapter is not a general solution to an installation loop.
- Do not permanently disable security protection. Use an allow-list entry or a brief controlled test, then restore protection.
- Do not use unofficial clients or launchers. Modified, cracked, and unknown downloads can compromise the device or account and may introduce a different cause of the loop.
- Do not edit the registry just because an online guide says to. Roblox’s official sequence supports uninstalling, restarting, clearing temporary files, and reinstalling—not indiscriminate registry cleaning.
Optional Windows maintenance software: only after the official fixes
If Roblox remains broken after the official uninstall, reinstall, temporary-file, permissions, and firewall checks—and the computer also has unrelated problems such as persistent system errors or storage-management issues—you may investigate an optional Windows PC repair tool such as Outbyte PC Repair.

Contact Roblox Support after recording the information that separates an account problem from a device or network problem:
- the exact message, such as “Getting Latest Roblox” or “Install Roblox”;
- whether the installer completes or starts over;
- device model and operating-system version;
- browser name and version, if the issue begins from the website;
- whether Roblox works on another permitted network or device;
- the date and approximate time of the failure; and
- any antivirus, firewall, VPN, parental-control, school, or workplace software involved.
Do not send passwords, authentication codes, recovery codes, or payment details in a support request. If the issue occurs on a managed network, involve its administrator as well as Roblox Support.
