If the Roblox scroll wheel is not working, first identify what fails: scrolling a Roblox menu, zooming the camera in an experience, zooming the 3D viewport in Roblox Studio, or controlling the camera with a trackpad or unusual mouse input. “Scroll wheel glitch” is a symptom category, not one confirmed Roblox bug.

1. Define the exact scroll-wheel failure
Before changing settings, write down the precise symptom:

- Interface scrolling: a Roblox menu, chat panel, inventory, or list will not scroll.
- Experience camera zoom: the wheel does not move the camera closer or farther away.
- Studio viewport zoom: the wheel works in panels such as Explorer or Properties but not in the 3D Workspace viewport.
- Wrong direction: scrolling up zooms out or the direction changes unexpectedly.
- Unintended movement: the camera tilts, turns, or moves while you scroll.
- Intermittent or runaway scrolling: one wheel movement produces several movements, or the camera continues moving after the wheel stops.
These behaviors do not all have the same cause. Roblox UI, an experience’s scripts, the default 3D camera, and Studio’s viewport can process input through different paths.
2. Test the mouse outside Roblox
Scroll a browser page, Windows Settings, or another application. If the wheel fails everywhere, Roblox is probably not the starting point.
Check the physical connection
- Unplug and reconnect the mouse.
- If it is connected through a USB hub, dock, monitor, or receiver extension, connect it directly to the computer.
- For a wireless mouse, replace or recharge the battery and reconnect its receiver or Bluetooth pairing.
- Try a different USB port.
- Test a second mouse, preferably a directly connected wired model.
A USB wired mouse is useful here as a controlled diagnostic or replacement device. It can show whether the original mouse, wireless link, hub, or Bluetooth path is responsible; it is not a guaranteed repair for a Roblox-specific problem.

Check Windows mouse settings
In Windows, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse. Review the wheel setting, including how many lines should move per wheel notch. Also check whether Windows is configured to scroll inactive windows when you hover over them. These settings can change how scrolling feels, but they will not normally repair a wheel that fails in every application.
If a second mouse behaves the same way outside Roblox, update Windows and check the mouse manufacturer’s software or driver support. Avoid assuming that a third-party driver utility is necessary: first use Windows Update and the manufacturer’s own troubleshooting steps.
3. Test Roblox interface scrolling separately from camera zoom
Inside Roblox, try a scrollable menu, chat or inventory panel, and another interface element. Then enter an experience and test the 3D camera. These are separate diagnostic paths:

- UI does not scroll and the camera does not zoom: investigate the mouse, connection, client, and operating system.
- UI scrolls but the camera does not zoom: the wheel is reaching Roblox, so focus on camera controls, the specific experience, or Studio.
- UI does not scroll but the camera does zoom: an interface may be focused incorrectly, blocked, or handling its own input.
Do not treat successful menu scrolling as proof that every Roblox camera will respond identically. A scrolling frame can consume wheel input before the camera sees it, and an experience can deliberately use the wheel for an inventory, vehicle, custom zoom, or other mechanic.

Leave the affected experience and test an unrelated one. If the wheel works elsewhere, the problem is likely specific to the original experience rather than a broken Roblox installation.
Experience developers can capture or reinterpret wheel input. Roblox’s input model includes a processed-input state that can indicate whether Roblox UI or another internal system already handled an event. For example, a scrolling interface may consume the input instead of allowing custom camera code to act on it. A game’s own scripts may also override the default camera behavior.
If only one experience is affected, contact that experience’s creator. Include:
- the experience link and the area where the problem occurs;
- whether the failure affects UI scrolling, camera zoom, or both;
- your device and operating system;
- whether the problem occurs with a second mouse;
- exact steps that reproduce it; and
- whether another experience handles the wheel normally.
5. Roblox Studio: separate panel scrolling from viewport zoom
Studio deserves its own test. Scroll in Explorer and Properties, then place the pointer over the 3D Workspace viewport and test zooming there. Also open a new or empty place.
If panels scroll normally but the 3D viewport does not, repeatedly replacing the mouse may not help. A March 24, 2026 Developer Forum report described this exact pattern across multiple users; later discussion said a flag was identified and reverted and that the viewport worked again for participants. That is evidence that Studio can experience a viewport-specific, platform-wide regression. It is not proof that every similar symptom has the same cause or that the incident remains active.

For a viewport-only failure:
- Restart Studio and test a new place.
- Restart the computer.
- Check Roblox’s service-status information and current Studio bug reports.
- Test another mouse only if you have not already isolated the hardware.
- Report the issue with your Studio version, operating system, place file or reproduction steps, and which panels do and do not respond.
6. Restart, update, and reinstall in that order
Once hardware and experience-specific causes have been tested, use the standard client recovery sequence.
Restart Roblox and the computer
Close every Roblox and Studio window, including a process that may remain open in the background, then start the client again. If that does not help, reboot the computer. A restart can clear a stuck input state or a temporary client problem, but it does not prove that the underlying cause has been fixed.
Update Roblox and Windows
Install available Windows updates and update Roblox through the distribution channel you use. On Windows, Roblox distinguishes the current Microsoft Store app, named Roblox – Windows and shown with a blue icon, from the older app. Make sure you know which version is installed before following instructions written for a different client.
Also update the mouse firmware or software only through the manufacturer’s official support route, when applicable. If the mouse works in other applications, changing drivers should not be your first assumption.
Reinstall only after the simpler tests
If the wheel fails throughout the Roblox client and the mouse works normally elsewhere, reinstall Roblox. Reinstallation can replace damaged or missing client files, but it is not a universal fix for a faulty mouse, an experience script, or a Roblox-wide regression.
For a broader desktop problem, also consider temporary-file cleanup and whether firewall or security software is interfering with Roblox. Change one thing at a time so you can tell which step affected the result. If the problem began immediately after an update, record that timing rather than assuming that clearing the cache will resolve it.

7. Trackpads, Magic Mouse, side-scroll wheels, and camera movement
Nonstandard scrolling devices can produce more than one kind of input. Trackpads and Apple Magic Mouse devices may send gesture-based or variable scroll deltas; a mouse with a horizontal wheel can send horizontal input; and some devices add inertia after the physical gesture ends.

The change addressed differences in the values produced by trackpads and Magic Mouse devices and enabled inertia for supported scrolling frames after rollout across platforms. It also warned developers not to assume that every wheel event has a fixed delta such as exactly −1 or 1.
For users, compare the behavior with a conventional mouse, temporarily disable gesture features where the operating system or device software allows it, and test another experience. For developers, treat the received delta as a value rather than as a guaranteed single “notch,” and account for whether Roblox has already processed the event.
Roblox staff also investigated a January 15–16, 2026 report involving unintended camera movement during rapid camera turning and scroll-wheel zooming. The response attributed the incident to a change involving Windows trackpad gesture processing and said the change had been reverted; the original reporter later said the issue appeared fixed after restarting the client. This is a useful regression pattern, not a diagnosis for every camera that moves unpredictably.
Older Developer Forum reports also describe horizontal mouse-wheel input being interpreted as camera tilt. Those reports help explain the symptom but are historical evidence, not confirmation of a currently unresolved defect.

Roblox developers should not assume that a physical wheel always arrives as one identical event or that the default camera will receive every event. Current Roblox input documentation exposes wheel-related input through UserInputService.PointerAction and documents InputChanged processing. The processed-input flag can be used to avoid acting on input that Roblox UI has already consumed.

In practical terms, custom camera or UI code should:
- use the actual input delta rather than hard-coding one fixed wheel value;
- distinguish vertical wheel movement from horizontal or gesture input;
- decide whether custom behavior should run when the input has already been processed by Roblox UI;
- test with a normal wheel, a trackpad, and a Magic Mouse when those devices are part of the target audience; and
- check whether a focused ScrollingFrame, inventory, vehicle control, or other interface is intentionally consuming the event.
A failure limited to one interface or one experience is therefore not enough to conclude that Roblox’s client-wide camera input is broken.
8. When to contact Roblox Support
Escalate after the outside-Roblox test, second-experience test, restart, update, and relevant hardware isolation. A useful report is reproducible and separates the symptom from your theory about its cause.
Include:
- your Roblox username;
- the exact symptom and any error message;
- the affected experience link, or state that the problem occurs in every experience;
- your computer or device model;
- your Windows, macOS, or mobile operating-system version;
- your Roblox client or Studio version, if relevant;
- the exact reproduction steps;
- when the problem began and whether it followed an update or hardware change;
- whether Roblox UI, experience camera zoom, and Studio viewport zoom each work;
- whether a second mouse changes the result; and
- whether the issue occurs only with a trackpad, Magic Mouse, Bluetooth mouse, side-scroll wheel, or other nonstandard input.
If only one experience is affected, send the report to that experience’s creator as well as Roblox only when there is evidence of a broader client problem.
What not to assume
- Changing Windows wheel speed will not repair a physically failing wheel.
- Reinstalling Roblox will not fix an experience’s custom camera script.
- A new mouse is not automatically the answer; use it as a controlled comparison first.
- A Developer Forum report is not the same as an official confirmation of a permanent, active bug.
- Cache cleanup, driver changes, and reinstalling are possible troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed solutions.
Fastest decision path
- Scroll outside Roblox.
- If it fails everywhere, connect the mouse directly and test another mouse.
- If it works outside Roblox, test Roblox UI.
- If UI works, test another experience.
- If only one experience fails, report it to that creator.
- If only Studio’s 3D viewport fails, test a new place and check for a Studio regression.
- Restart, update, and then reinstall the Roblox client if the failure is client-wide.
- Send Roblox Support a complete reproduction report if the problem remains.

Why does my Roblox scroll wheel not work anywhere?
Test a browser or another Windows application first. If the wheel fails there too, connect the mouse directly to the computer, remove hubs or docks, check Windows mouse settings, and test a second mouse.

Why does the scroll wheel work in Roblox Studio panels but not the 3D viewport?
