If Star Wars Jedi: Survivor crashes with a “Low-Level Fatal Error” mentioning D3D12, DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED or DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG, try the reversible checks below in order: update the game, verify its files, check the graphics driver, temporarily disable overclocks and overlays, then test with lower graphics settings. These are diagnostic steps, not a guaranteed fix. The error points to a graphics-device/API failure; it does not, by itself, prove your graphics card is broken.
What the error means
“Low-Level Fatal Error” is a broad crash message. The full error text matters: one reported Jedi: Survivor crash included a D3D12 resource failure, DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED, and the reason DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG. Preserve the complete message, including any D3D12RHI line, if you seek help. A Steam discussion about this crash shows why the detailed code is more useful than the generic label.

Microsoft defines DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG as a device failure caused by badly formed commands sent by an application, describing it as a design-time issue to investigate and fix. Microsoft also defines DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED as indicating that a video card was physically removed or a driver upgrade occurred. Seeing these codes in a game crash report does not establish that the card was physically removed or that it needs replacing; the message alone does not identify a confirmed cause or a specific fix for this game. Try these troubleshooting steps in order
Change one thing at a time and retest the game. That makes it easier to tell whether a change affected the crash. The first steps are reversible checks, not proof that any one setting or component caused the problem.

- Mechanical Circular D-pad: Designed for quick reactions and accuracy in every direction, this D-pad elevates your gaming experience with superior responsiveness.
- Check for a game update and EA’s troubleshooting guidance. Open the game through the launcher where you own it and install any update offered there. Then visit EA’s Jedi: Survivor support hub, which links to guidance for crashes and freezes, DxDiag reports, and DirectX or EA app issues.
- Verify or repair the game files. Use the file verification or repair option in the launcher you use. This is a common suggestion in the Steam discussion, but it is not established as a universal fix. The exact menu path depends on the launcher.
- Check your graphics driver through the GPU maker’s official channel. If a driver update is available, follow the maker’s instructions. The error code alone does not show that the driver is the cause.
- Temporarily disable overclocks and overlays, if you use them. Remove GPU or CPU overclocks and turn off overlays for a test, then retry the game. This can help isolate a possible interaction; it does not prove an overclock or overlay caused the crash.
- Reduce graphics load for a test. Lower the resolution and graphics settings, and turn off ray tracing if it is enabled. Change one setting at a time, retry the scene or activity that crashed, and restore your preferred setting if there is no improvement.
What community reports can—and cannot—tell you
Players in the Steam discussion suggest driver updates, file validation, removing overclocks, and lowering settings. Their results vary: one player reported getting past a repeatedly crashing point at low settings and 1080p, while another said lowering settings did not help. Those accounts make reduced settings a reasonable diagnostic test, not a reliable permanent remedy or evidence that ray tracing is the cause.
The same thread includes an individual report of a temporary repair after running Cleanup.exe and Touchup.exe from the game installation. This is not presented as official EA guidance or a dependable fix. Do not run unfamiliar executables unless you can confirm they are legitimate files in your own game installation.

If the crash continues
Collect the complete error text and a DxDiag report, then use the contact options on EA’s support hub. Include what you were doing when the crash happened and which troubleshooting changes you tested. Keeping the full code and D3D12RHI details can make the report more useful than saying only that a low-level fatal error appeared.
