The “Outdated Game Client” error means your installed ARC Raiders build does not match the version currently accepted by the game servers. Fully close the game, install every pending update, and restart your platform. If no update is available—especially on Xbox—the problem may be a staggered platform rollout or server-side deployment, not a broken installation.
What causes the error?
ARC Raiders checks your client version before allowing matchmaking, party joining, and cross-play. The error can appear after a patch or hotfix when:

- an update is queued, paused, or downloaded but not fully applied;
- the game was left open, suspended, or stored in Quick Resume;
- the launcher has stale update metadata;
- your platform is receiving the patch later than another platform; or
- the servers have moved to the new build before the storefront update is visible.
Every member of a cross-play party must be running an accepted build. Updating ARC Raiders on PC does not update a separate PS5 or Xbox installation.
Before changing anything, compare your situation with other players. If only you are affected while a friend on the same platform can play, check for a local queued update or suspended session. If many players on one platform see the error at once, a staged rollout, certification delay, maintenance window, or backend propagation issue is more likely. Quick fix for every platform
- Exit ARC Raiders completely rather than leaving it suspended.
- Check your platform’s download or update queue.
- Resume or install the ARC Raiders update and wait for all downloading, copying, verification, and installation stages to finish.
- Restart the launcher or console.
- Launch the game again and retry matchmaking or the party invite.
If the update is not offered, do not immediately reinstall. Reinstallation cannot create a patch that has not yet been published to your platform.
Fix ARC Raiders on Steam
1. Resume or force the pending update
Fully exit ARC Raiders, then restart Steam. Open Library → Downloads and look for ARC Raiders. Select Download or Resume if available. If the status says Update queued, move the game to the top of the queue or start it manually.
2. Enable automatic updates
In Steam, open Library, right-click ARC Raiders, choose Properties → Updates, then set Automatic Updates to Always keep this game updated.

3. Verify the installation
Use Steam → Library → right-click ARC Raiders → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Wait for the process to finish, then allow Steam to download any missing or damaged files it identifies.
Verification repairs the installation against the build Steam currently recognizes. It does not independently force Steam to expose a newer live build, so it may not solve a platform rollout delay.
4. Clear a stuck Steam download
If Steam will not begin the update, open Steam → Settings → Downloads → Clear Download Cache. Steam will sign you in again afterward; clearing the cache does not uninstall your games. Then check Library → Downloads once more.

Also make sure the installation drive has enough free space. A patch may need additional temporary space to unpack and replace files even when the final update is relatively small. If ARC Raiders was open or suspended during the patch, close it before trying again.

If ARC Raiders offers beta, test, or preview branches, select the live/default branch for normal server matching. A non-live branch can produce a build mismatch.
Fix ARC Raiders on the Epic Games Store
1. Refresh the launcher and update the game
Close ARC Raiders and fully exit the Epic Games Launcher. On Windows, also close it from the system tray so it is not running in the background. Reopen the launcher, go to Library, find ARC Raiders, and select Update if the option appears.
If the tile shows no update despite the error, restarting Epic can refresh its game manifest and reveal a queued patch.
2. Verify the files
In Epic Games Launcher, open Library, select the three dots beside ARC Raiders, choose Manage, and click Verify. Do not launch the game until verification is complete.
File verification can repair a damaged or incomplete local installation, but it cannot force an update that Epic has not yet published or detected. No verified command-line command is required for forcing an ARC Raiders update through Epic.

Fix ARC Raiders on PS5
1. Close the suspended game
Press the PS button, highlight ARC Raiders, press Options, and select Close Game. Do not rely on the game remaining suspended while checking for a patch.
2. Check for updates manually
From the PS5 home screen, highlight ARC Raiders, press the controller’s Options button, and choose Check for Update or Check for Updates. The wording can vary, but both labels perform the same check.
3. Resume the download
Open the PS5 Control Center and check Downloads/Uploads. A patch may be queued or paused even if the game tile looks current. Resume it and wait for downloading, copying, and installation to finish.

For a normal restart, use Power → Restart PS5. If the update remains stuck, cancel and restart the update, reboot the console, and repeat Options → Check for Update.
If that still fails, shut down the PS5 completely, unplug it briefly, reconnect it, start the console, and check again. This can clear stale update or session state.
Fix ARC Raiders on Xbox Series X|S
The available procedures specifically cover Xbox Series X|S. They do not verify an Xbox One procedure or edition.
1. Quit the game completely
Press the Xbox button, highlight ARC Raiders, press the Menu button, and choose Quit. This prevents Quick Resume from retaining a pre-patch session.

2. Check the game’s update menu
Open the ARC Raiders tile and choose Manage game & add-ons → Updates. Depending on the interface or guide, the menu may appear as Manage Games and Add-ons.
You can also open My games & apps, select Download & updates, and look for ARC Raiders marked as queued or paused. Resume the update and wait until installation is complete. If it is stuck, cancel and restart the update.
3. Restart the Xbox
Use the Xbox guide’s Restart console option, or go to Settings → General → Power options → Restart now.
If a normal restart does not help, hold the console’s power button until it shuts down. Unplug the power cable for approximately 10–15 seconds, reconnect it, start the console, and check for the update again.
When the update is not available yet
PC, PlayStation, and Xbox do not always receive a hotfix at exactly the same time. An Xbox build, for example, may still be awaiting platform certification after PC or PlayStation players have received the patch. The servers can therefore reject the older Xbox client even though the console offers no update yet.

Storefront publishing, server deployment, authentication, and matchmaking validation can also become synchronized a little later. In that situation, repeatedly verifying files or reinstalling will not create the missing build. Close the game, restart once, confirm that no update is queued, and wait for the platform rollout to complete.
A January 2026 hotfix window illustrates this edge case: the cited report says Xbox players could not cross-play until the Xbox-specific build shipped, after which cross-play resumed. That example does not establish a permanent build number or a universal release schedule.
Should you reinstall ARC Raiders?
Reinstall only after confirming that an update is actually available for your platform and local repair steps have failed. It can replace damaged files, but it cannot fix:
- a patch that has not yet been released to your platform;
- a server-side rollout still in progress;
- a certification delay; or
- a launcher or console queue that has not exposed the update.
Likewise, removing or reinstalling Easy Anti-Cheat is not an established fix for this specific version-mismatch error. The documented solutions focus on closing the game, updating the client, repairing local files, and waiting when rollout timing is the cause.
What this error usually is not
“Outdated Game Client” points to a version mismatch rather than a normal matchmaking-network problem. NAT type, controller issues, skill-based matchmaking, or account status are not identified by the reviewed troubleshooting guidance as the usual causes of this message.
If the platform reports that ARC Raiders is fully updated but the error continues, first determine whether other players on the same platform can connect. That distinction separates a local queue or stale session from a broader platform rollout or server deployment problem.
