If your cursor leaves the Roblox game window, first check whether you’re using the Microsoft Store app or the client installed through the Roblox website. Roblox staff have described a cursor-lock limitation with the Store app, and a later bug report noted the issue on that client but not the website-installed one. Switching clients is a useful diagnostic—not a guaranteed fix. Then test Roblox’s mouse-lock and fullscreen controls, and check whether the experience allows camera-mode changes.
1. Check which Roblox client you’re using
On Windows, Roblox may be running as the Microsoft Store app or through the client installed from the Roblox website. A Roblox staff forum response in 2024 attributed cursor-lock behavior to a limitation of the Store app’s UWP platform. The response said the manually downloaded client should keep the cursor in the game window; a later bug report described reproducing the problem on the Store client but not the website-installed client. These reports make the client source a sensible first check, but they do not establish how every current build behaves.

- Note whether you launched Roblox from the Microsoft Store or from the website-installed client.
- If you use the Store app, launch the same experience through the website-installed client.
- Keep the experience, camera mode, and monitor arrangement the same while comparing. If the cursor stays contained in one client but not the other, that difference is a useful clue.

Roblox Creator Hub lists Shift as the default toggle for mouse lock and F11 as the Windows fullscreen shortcut. These are default bindings; an experience may not support or expose them in the same way. Fullscreen can change how the issue presents, but Roblox’s documentation does not promise that it will prevent the cursor from escaping.

- Press Shift to toggle mouse lock, if the experience supports it.
- Press F11 to enter or leave fullscreen on Windows, then check whether the cursor behavior changes.

3. Check the experience’s camera settings
Camera behavior can depend on the experience. Roblox Support says developers can lock the camera mode. When the experience permits player control, its in-experience settings may offer Classic or Follow camera modes, and Shift Lock Switch uses Shift to toggle camera modes.
- Open the experience’s in-game settings and check the camera mode and Shift Lock Switch options.
- If the settings are unavailable or the cursor issue occurs only in one experience, try another experience. That helps distinguish an experience-specific restriction from behavior that follows the client across games.

4. Investigate overlays or security software only if needed
If the cursor problem began after you changed software, consider whether an overlay or other third-party application is involved. Roblox Support discusses third-party application and antivirus restrictions as general troubleshooting concerns, but does not identify them as a specific cause of cursor escape. Check restrictions carefully; do not turn off antivirus or other security protections wholesale.

Use Roblox Support’s guidance on firewall and antivirus restrictions for general service troubleshooting.
5. Give Roblox Support a useful comparison
If the cursor still escapes across both client types and multiple experiences, report the behavior with enough detail to make the setup reproducible. Include:

- Whether Roblox came from the Microsoft Store or the website-installed client
- Your Windows version and monitor arrangement
- The experience names where the issue occurs
- Whether the game was in fullscreen and which camera or mouse-lock settings were active
- Whether overlays or other third-party applications were running
The available reports do not establish a universal cause or success rate, and they do not show that a mouse hardware fault is responsible. Comparing client, experience, and settings is more informative than replacing a peripheral without evidence.
