If the taskbar still appears, enable Windows taskbar auto-hide, then re-focus Roblox and press F11 again. A taskbar that appears only when your pointer touches the bottom edge is usually behaving normally; a taskbar that stays visible over the game points to a display, focus, Windows Explorer, or app-version problem.
First, identify what the taskbar is doing
- It appears only when the pointer reaches the bottom: Windows auto-hide is revealing it as designed.
- It stays visible over Roblox: Roblox may not be in its expected full-screen state, or Windows Explorer may be stuck.
- It flashes after Alt-Tab: Roblox may have lost full-screen focus.
- A title bar appears too: Roblox is probably windowed or borderless rather than displaying a clean full-screen presentation.
These symptoms need slightly different fixes. Start with Roblox’s own shortcut before changing Windows settings.

1. Toggle Roblox full screen with F11
- Join any Roblox experience on your Windows PC.
- Press F11.
- Wait briefly for the display to resize.
- Move the pointer away from the bottom edge.
- If the first press exits full screen or makes the problem worse, press F11 again.
Roblox’s current Windows input documentation lists F11 as the default full-screen shortcut. Roblox’s keyboard reference is the authoritative source for that binding.

2. Turn on Windows taskbar auto-hide
Windows 11
- Right-click an empty area of the taskbar.
- Select Taskbar settings.
- Expand Taskbar behaviors.
- Enable Automatically hide the taskbar.
Microsoft documents this setting in its Windows taskbar customization guide.
Windows 10
Open Taskbar settings and enable the option for automatically hiding the taskbar in desktop mode. The wording and layout differ slightly from Windows 11.
Auto-hide is not the same as Roblox full screen. It hides the taskbar while the pointer is away, but moving the pointer to the bottom edge intentionally reveals it. Keep the pointer slightly above that edge, or use Roblox’s F11 mode instead. Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025, so Windows 11 is the preferred environment for current troubleshooting.

3. Reset Roblox’s display state
- Press Esc, or click the Roblox logo/menu button in the upper-left corner.
- Open Settings.
- Check the display or full-screen controls available in your client, if present.
- Resume the experience.
- Press F11 again and move the pointer away from the bottom.
Roblox confirms that Esc or the upper-left Roblox logo opens the in-experience menu, with settings available from the Settings tab. Menu labels can vary between app versions and feature tests, so do not worry if your client does not show an identically named Fullscreen switch.
You can also press Alt + Tab to move to another window, return to Roblox, and press F11 again. This may restore focus, but it is not guaranteed.

4. Restart Windows Explorer if the taskbar is stuck
Use this when the taskbar remains visibly over Roblox even after F11 and auto-hide are configured.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find Windows Explorer in the process list.
- Right-click it.
- Select Restart.
- Return to Roblox and press F11.
Restarting Explorer refreshes the Windows shell; it does not repair or reinstall Roblox. Open File Explorer windows and other shell elements may briefly disappear and reload. Microsoft support discussions describe this as a quick, temporary recovery step for taskbars that remain over full-screen applications.
If restarting Explorer helps only until the next Roblox session, look for a recurring app-version, overlay, keyboard-utility, or focus problem instead of repeatedly restarting Explorer.
5. Check which Roblox Windows app you have
The Microsoft Store now distinguishes the newer app named Roblox – Windows from the older Store app named simply Roblox. Roblox says the newer app uses a blue icon, while the older listing uses a light gray icon. See Roblox’s app migration guidance for the current distinction.
- Open the Microsoft Store.
- Search for Roblox – Windows.
- Update or install the current app.
- Sign in again if requested.
- Use the new app for a while before removing the old one.
Switching apps is not a guaranteed taskbar fix, and Roblox does not identify the older app as the cause of this specific problem. It is useful because different client versions can have different display behavior and it removes uncertainty about which package is installed. Roblox recommends uninstalling the old app after the new one is installed and confirmed working.

Should you try Alt+Enter?
Only as an optional fallback. Some community and Microsoft support discussions suggest pressing Alt + Enter to change display modes. However, Roblox’s current official Windows keyboard reference lists F11, not Alt+Enter, for full screen.
If F11 does not change the display mode, try Alt+Enter once and then test F11 again. Results vary by Roblox client, graphics configuration, and Windows setup. If it does nothing, return to the official F11 method and continue with the Windows fixes above. Do not assume Alt+Enter creates a universally superior or exclusive “true fullscreen” mode.
If the taskbar still appears
Check keyboard and overlay conflicts
- Try Fn + F11 and check whether Fn Lock is enabled.
- Temporarily disable laptop hotkey software or keyboard utilities.
- Test with Xbox Game Bar, Discord overlays, GPU overlays, and screen-recording tools disabled.
- Restart Windows after changing these settings.
These are diagnostic possibilities, not confirmed causes in every Roblox installation. A utility may intercept F11, keep a window focused, or affect how the taskbar responds.
Test your monitor arrangement
If you use multiple monitors, test Roblox on the primary display and watch which screen the pointer reaches. A secondary taskbar or movement toward the active display’s bottom edge can make the behavior appear game-specific. Temporarily moving or disabling a docked secondary taskbar can help isolate the cause.
Use windowed mode as a fallback
If full screen is the only mode that triggers the problem, windowed mode may avoid the glitch. You lose some screen space and immersion, but it can be a practical temporary workaround while you identify whether Windows or Roblox is responsible.

Clean boot only as a last diagnostic step
A clean boot can help identify a third-party startup service or application that interferes with Roblox or the taskbar. It is more disruptive than the other fixes, so use it only after updating Roblox, restarting Windows, and testing overlays. If a clean boot solves the issue, re-enable services and startup items in groups until you identify the conflict; do not permanently disable necessary services without understanding them.
If the problem occurs only in Roblox and survives app updates, Explorer restart, Windows restart, and overlay testing, contact Roblox Support. If the taskbar appears in every full-screen game, the issue is more likely Windows- or utility-wide than Roblox-specific.

- Do not edit the registry for this basic problem.

- Do not assume a maximized or borderless window is identical to every kind of full-screen presentation.
- Do not repeatedly reinstall Windows or Roblox before trying F11, auto-hide, Explorer restart, and app updates.

Can I fix this without reinstalling Roblox?
Usually, yes. Try F11, Windows auto-hide, re-focusing Roblox, restarting Windows Explorer, and disabling overlays before considering an app change or reinstall.
