The “TRAVIS – RILEA” error in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a sign-in timeout, not a diagnosis of one broken component. The accompanying message is reported as “Timed out while signing into online platform.” Check Call of Duty and platform service status first; if services appear available, test your console or PC connection and then work through local network steps. No single fix is established as a guaranteed solution.
1. Check Call of Duty and platform service status
Start with Activision’s online services status page and check the entry for Black Ops 6 and your platform. Activision’s Black Ops 6 connection guide recommends this as the first check. If your platform’s indicator is not green or an alert is posted, wait for service to recover before changing router settings. The guide also links to Xbox status and PlayStation status.

A green indicator is useful, but it does not prove that every service or your home network is working normally. If no alert is shown, continue with the platform’s connection test.
2. Test whether your platform is online
Confirm you are signed in to your system account, then run the connection test for your platform:

- Xbox: Open Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings > Test network connection. If you are experiencing lag or disconnections, Activision also points to Test multiplayer connection.
- PlayStation: Open Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection.
If the test reports a connection problem, follow the platform’s troubleshooting prompts before trying to sign in to the game again. A successful test does not rule out intermittent connection trouble or a service-side issue.
3. Restart your router and reduce network congestion
Restarting the router is a straightforward local check recommended by Activision. Pause or finish bandwidth-heavy activity on the same network—such as downloads or streaming—then reopen the game and try again. These steps can help when the local connection is the problem, but they will not restore an unavailable Activision or platform service.

Try Ethernet if you are using Wi-Fi
Activision strongly recommends a wired Ethernet connection during online gameplay. Ethernet avoids some of the reliability and bandwidth variation associated with Wi-Fi, making it a useful test if you can connect the console or PC to the router. It is a stability measure, not a fix for a server outage.
4. Test router settings one at a time
If service status and basic connection checks look normal but the error persists, Activision’s guide describes router configuration tests. Router menus and available options vary, so consult your router’s manual. Change one setting at a time and test the game before moving on; otherwise, you may not know which change mattered.

- Try UPnP. Enable Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), if available, and test the connection.
- If that does not help, test without UPnP and try port forwarding with a static IP. Follow your router and platform documentation for the configuration rather than guessing at settings.
- For consoles only, treat DMZ as a temporary test. Activision lists it as a further test and specifically says to remove the console’s static IP from the DMZ after testing. Do not leave the console in DMZ.
If you are on a school, workplace, or other shared network, contact its administrator instead of changing network settings yourself. If the listed checks do not resolve the connection problem, Activision advises contacting your internet service provider.

Guides from Insider Gaming and ONE Esports also report trying game updates, restarting the PC or console, verifying game files on PC, or clearing the DNS cache. These are secondary suggestions, not Activision-confirmed remedies for every Travis-Rilea error; success can vary. If you try one, make the change and test again before moving to another.

Steam maintenance may matter for Steam players
Dot Esports notes that scheduled Steam maintenance can coincide with the error for Steam players. That is one possible context, not proof that Steam is the cause in a particular case. If the error appears during maintenance, wait and try again afterward rather than making multiple local network changes.
