First identify what “lag” looks like: rubber-banding, attacks that do not register, or disconnects point to a network connection problem; low FPS or stutter points to PC performance; and controls that react late point to input or display latency. Each needs a different set of checks, and none of these symptoms alone proves whether the cause is your PC, home network, internet provider, or the game service.
Identify which kind of lag you have

THRONE AND LIBERTY Support describes online lag as a delay between a player’s action and the server’s reaction. Its separate input-lag guide describes the time between a device command and the display responding. Use the symptom that best matches your experience rather than changing every setting at once. If you are rubber-banding, disconnecting, or attacks fail to register
Work through these checks in order. They help identify common local causes, but cannot establish that the issue is on your side or guarantee that a server or routing problem will be fixed.
- Check official known issues. Review the Known Issues page before changing settings. It was last updated April 23, 2026, so it does not confirm live service health on October 8, 2026. Its listing includes some specific issues, including an Easy Anti-Cheat 47 issue affecting some Windows PC players, but does not establish that general multiplayer lag is a known issue.
- Pause competing network activity. For a test, stop downloads or updates in Windows, Steam, and other games, and ask household members to pause high-bandwidth activity. If the problem improves, congestion on your connection may be contributing.
- Verify the Steam game files. In Steam, open Library, right-click THRONE AND LIBERTY, choose Properties, open Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Let the check finish and test the game again.
- Power-cycle your modem and router. Unplug their power; remove a battery if the device has one. Wait 30 seconds. Reconnect the modem first and let it boot, then reconnect the router. The game’s support instructions recommend this sequence.
- Try Ethernet temporarily. Connect the PC to the router with an Ethernet cable and repeat the same activity. This can help distinguish a Wi-Fi signal or interference problem from other causes; it cannot fix server congestion or an internet provider’s routing. If you need a cable for the test, choose one long enough to reach your router—no particular brand is required by the support guidance.
If rubber-banding or disconnects continue, contact THRONE AND LIBERTY Support. Include when the issue happens, whether it affects other online activities, whether Ethernet changes it, and which steps you tried.

If the game has low FPS or stutters
These checks target the PC’s ability to render the game, not a delayed response from the server. Change one thing at a time and retest so you can tell what helped.
- Change display mode. Try fullscreen, then windowed or borderless mode, and keep whichever behaves better on your system.
- Reduce competing work. Close unnecessary applications and pause downloads or tasks that write heavily to disk.
- Lower video settings if needed. Reduce in-game graphics settings if your PC is below the game’s listed requirements or struggles to maintain a steady frame rate.
- Check Windows power and startup settings. Try the Windows High Performance power setting and reduce unnecessary startup applications.
- Update Windows and your graphics driver. Check for available updates, and if you use GPU-control software, reset its settings to defaults as a troubleshooting test.
- Check for overheating. If performance worsens after playing for a while, check whether the PC is overheating; heat can affect performance.
- Verify Steam files. In Steam, go to Library, right-click THRONE AND LIBERTY, choose Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
The official frame-rate and performance guide lists these as troubleshooting checks, not guaranteed fixes. Steam currently lists Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-6500, 8 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, DirectX 12, broadband internet, and 63 GB storage as minimum requirements. Its recommended specifications are an Intel Core i5-11600K, 16 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, DirectX 12, broadband internet, and 63 GB storage. Steam cautions that requirements and server locations can change, so check the current Steam listing for the latest details.

If your controls feel delayed
Input lag is different from a network delay: it is the time between pressing a key, moving a mouse, or using a controller and seeing the display react. The official input-lag guide recommends these tests:
- Try a wired keyboard, mouse, or controller. This helps check whether a wireless peripheral is contributing to the delay.
- Test V-Sync off. Disabling V-Sync can reduce input latency, but may cause screen tearing.
- Reduce video settings. Lower settings can help if rendering is contributing to the delay.
- Consider variable refresh rate. If both your display and GPU support G-SYNC or FreeSync, the support guide suggests using the compatible option rather than simply disabling V-Sync.
What recent game notices can—and cannot—tell you
The official news listing shows maintenance for update 4.15.0 beginning October 7, 2026, at 10:30 p.m. PT, with an estimated duration of approximately three hours. That notice provides update context; it does not confirm an ongoing lag incident or prove that servers are currently healthy. Check the official news listing and Known Issues page for notices, then use your symptoms and the tests above to narrow down the problem.
