Satisfactory earned a 91/100 critic score on Metacritic’s PC page, based on 18 reviews, when checked on October 8, 2026. The appeal described by critics is its open-ended factory building and satisfying automation; the main cautions are a slow start, limited direction, stretches of repetition, and some reported technical issues.
What is Satisfactory’s critic score?
Metacritic displayed a 91/100 for the PC version, classified as “Universal Acclaim” and based on 18 critic reviews. Its all-platform summary also displayed 91/100, based on 22 critic reviews. These are distinct Metacritic views, and the figures can change as the site updates its listings. Metacritic’s Satisfactory page also lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but the available page display does not establish a separate score for every platform.
Steam’s player ratings are a separate measure, not part of Metacritic’s critic aggregate. When checked on October 8, 2026, Steam showed 97% positive from 137,993 English-language user reviews and 96% positive from 1,455 recent reviews. Those percentages and review counts can change. Steam’s Satisfactory listing presents the game and its user reviews.
What do critics praise about Satisfactory?
Building an increasingly complex factory
Satisfactory is a first-person, open-world factory-building game set on an alien planet. Players explore, gather resources, construct factories, and automate production and transportation. The cited reviews emphasize the pleasure of turning a small operation into a larger, more intricate production system, then refining how its parts work together.

- [Games need exclusions and runtimes, not malware]Some customers ask why our retro game drives can trigger Windows Security warnings. Many game files are older DLLs that Windows Defender sometimes flags as threats. They are not viruses or malware—just old or uncommon code causing false positives. We temporarily add them to the exclusion list so they aren't blocked, then re-enable Security to keep your PC protected. Many classic games also need legacy VC++ and DirectX runtimes, which modern Windows doesn't include by default. Installing them ensures compatibility and smooth play. Your safety matters to us—these are safe, standard steps for retro games.
- [Important:Before you buy]your OS will show ~12.7TB due to decimal/binary measurement difference – this is a common practice among international manufacturers, not a capacity labeling error. Includes an updated manual with setup and troubleshooting tips. Contact us for any missing or non-working titles – we’ll help promptly.

Creative freedom and problem-solving
Rather than making every step feel like a tightly directed sequence, the game gives players room to decide what to build and how to organize it. That freedom is a major draw for people who enjoy planning layouts, solving production problems, and seeing a design take shape. GameSpace described its 1.0 release as an experience for players who enjoy “problem-solving elements and creative freedom.”
A world beyond the factory floor
Exploration and combat sit alongside construction and automation, so play is not limited to managing production lines. Steam lists single-player, online co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer features; the exact supported multiplayer combinations can depend on platform and may change over time.

What are the downsides critics mention?
A slow start and little hand-holding
The open-ended structure can be intimidating if you want frequent direction or a clearly prescribed route through the game. Shacknews captured that trade-off: “I think the freeform nature of Satisfactory is both its greatest power and its most intimidating offering”. A slower beginning may also test the patience of players waiting for the larger automated systems to emerge.
Repetition and technical complaints
Selected reviews describe some production tasks as tedious or repetitive. One excerpt also mentions graphical glitches, fauna and flora becoming boring, and strain on PC hardware. These are examples from individual reviews, not a quantified finding about all critics or a guarantee that every player will encounter the same problems. The overall score does not tell you how well the game will run on a particular computer.

Is Satisfactory worth playing?
It is a strong fit if you enjoy open-ended building, resource planning, and gradually automating a complicated system. The critic reception supports that appeal: the PC Metacritic score was 91/100 when checked, and the selected reviews repeatedly praise creative freedom and the satisfaction of optimization.
Consider the trade-off before choosing it if you prefer a fast opening, constant objectives, or minimal repetition. It can be played alone or with friends, but the core activity remains building and improving production systems; co-op does not turn it into a more tightly guided adventure.

Platforms and PC requirements
Metacritic lists PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Windows Central reported that the console versions launched on November 4, 2025, with Xbox–PlayStation cross-play at launch; its report said console-to-PC cross-play was not part of the console launch plan. It also reported console performance modes of 30, 40, and 60 fps. Those are launch-era details, not confirmation of current cross-play support or a performance guarantee. Check current platform listings before buying if multiplayer compatibility or a specific mode matters. Windows Central’s November 4, 2025 report covers the console launch.
For Windows PC, Steam publishes the following system requirements. They are storefront specifications, not independent benchmarks or promises of a particular frame rate.

Steam states that multiplayer requires an internet connection. Compare your PC with the published specifications, but do not treat meeting them as evidence of how a large, developed factory will perform on your specific setup.
