Check your PC against the demo requirements
The Valor Mortis Steam listing currently gives these demo specifications and warns that “This demo spec is subject to change for the final release.” The listing says the game is not yet available as a full release.

Compare your processor and graphics card with both tiers, and check Windows, memory, available space, and drive type. A PC below minimum requirements may not be able to run the demo reliably. Meeting the minimum tier does not promise high FPS: Steam Support notes that performance also depends on the machine and settings.
Try these checks in order
- Verify the requirements. Check your Windows version, CPU, GPU, RAM, free storage, and whether the game is installed on an SSD. The Steam listing is the source for the demo baseline.
- Move the game to an SSD if it is on an HDD. Steam marks an SSD as required. This corrects a mismatch with the stated requirement, but is not a guaranteed fix for crashes, stuttering, or low FPS.
- Close unnecessary background applications. Steam Support recommends reducing background activity and freeing memory when troubleshooting performance.
- Check graphics and component drivers, then reduce demanding settings if performance is poor. Steam Support’s general guidance includes checking drivers and lowering resolution or demanding video options. It is not a Valor Mortis-specific fix. If you change more than one setting, do so one at a time and observe the result so you can identify which change mattered.
- For a persistent crash or an error specific to the game, use the game’s support route on Steam. Steam Support directs players to the third-party game’s support team when an issue needs game-specific help.
These steps are general checks, not confirmed remedies for a particular Valor Mortis fault. The available sources do not validate arbitrary launch commands, configuration-file edits, registry changes, driver-cleaner utilities, or hardware purchases as fixes for this game.

Distinguish reports from confirmed causes
Players have posted about stuttering, crashes, low FPS, and an instance of a D3D12core error in the Valor Mortis Steam community discussions. These are individual reports: they do not establish how common an issue is, what causes it, or whether a proposed fix works for other PCs. In particular, the D3D12core wording is one reported instance, not evidence of a widespread problem.
If you can reproduce a problem, include your CPU and GPU, Windows version, graphics-driver version, resolution and graphics settings, and what you were doing immediately before the crash. The community feedback thread can collect player observations, but it is not an official diagnosis or a guaranteed source of a fix.

What the developer said about an earlier build
In an announcement about an October 6, 2025 pre-alpha playtest, the developer said performance and optimization still needed work and listed hardware not being automatically detected among that build’s known issues. That statement describes the earlier pre-alpha build; it does not confirm that the current demo has the same problems. Check current official game updates or support information for changes that apply to the build you are playing.
