Before troubleshooting, identify your platform and version
Vampire Survivors is available on multiple platforms, and a fix or feature described for one edition may not exist on another. Write down the device, operating system, storefront or platform, and game version shown by that platform. Also note whether the problem began after an update or DLC installation. These details help distinguish a platform-specific issue from a general symptom.

Poncle’s June 2026 announcement for version 1.15 describes work on performance, memory use, loading, enemy spawning, and stability, including improvements for low-end platforms. The announcement also says rollout timing differs by platform, so do not assume that every edition has version 1.15 or identical changes at the same time. Use requirements only for the edition they describe. Steam’s technical support listing gives these minimums for its PC and Mac versions:

These are Steam listing requirements, not requirements for console, mobile, Apple Arcade, or Epic editions. Meeting them does not guarantee that every run will be free of slowdown or crashes.
Minimum requirements are a starting comparison, not a diagnosis. If your device falls below a listed minimum, that is relevant information to include in a support report; if it meets the minimum, that does not rule out an issue with a particular build or situation. The listing does not specify a guaranteed frame rate or promise that every device meeting the minimum will behave identically.
It also helps to separate three timelines: when the game was last updated, when the symptom first appeared, and when it happens during play. For example, a crash that began after installing DLC and happens during loading is a different report from a game that opens normally but slows only late in a run. Record those distinctions before changing settings or save data.
Crashes and launch failures
First establish when the failure occurs. A game that will not open, one that closes after a DLC installation, and one that crashes late in a long run are different reports. Record the trigger rather than treating them as the same problem.
Use this crash checklist
- Record the environment. Note the platform and storefront, game version, device or computer model, operating system version, and whether the failure happens at launch, during loading, after installing DLC, or at a particular point in a run.
- Check the relevant requirements. If you play the Steam PC or Mac edition, compare the device with the matching Steam minimums above. Do not use those specifications to judge a console or mobile device.
- Check for an update on that platform. Install the current update made available by the store or platform you use. Version 1.15 lists stability work, including improvements for late-game and low-end-platform stability, but its availability may differ by platform and it is not a promise that every crash will be fixed.
- Retest the same trigger. If the game opens after an update, check whether the same action or point in a run still causes the failure. Keep the report specific; “crashes late in a run” is more useful than “doesn’t work.”
- Contact poncle if it continues. Steam’s Vampire Survivors support listing identifies
[email protected]. Include the details from step one and what you already checked. For a non-Steam edition, identify that platform clearly so support can understand which version is involved.
If the issue began after installing DLC, say which DLC was involved and whether the failure happens before or after the game reaches its menus. If it happens only in a late-game situation, describe that pattern rather than concluding that a specific effect, device component, or setting is the cause. The available official information does not establish a universal setting or hardware upgrade that resolves crashes.
Keep the first retest as comparable as practical: use the same platform and describe the same point or action that previously triggered the crash. If the issue does not happen again, say so rather than claiming it is fixed after one attempt. If it does recur, note whether it is repeatable and whether it occurs at launch, loading, or in a run. This is useful information to report, not a guarantee that a particular test will identify the cause.
Do not transfer a troubleshooting instruction from another device just because the symptom sounds similar. Steam’s PC and Mac requirements, for example, cannot be used to assess a console or phone. Lag or slowdown during a run
Describe the pattern before changing anything: does slowdown occur from the start, appear only late in a run or in a high-effect situation, or begin after an update or DLC installation? This is a way to make the symptom report precise, not proof of a particular cause.

What to check
- Confirm your installed version. Check the update available through your own platform. Poncle’s version 1.15 announcement lists general memory and performance optimization, improved enemy spawning, faster startup with many DLCs, and stability improvements for low-end platforms. Those notes show areas addressed by the update; they do not guarantee a fix for every device or every slowdown pattern.
- Compare against the correct requirements. For Steam on Windows or macOS, use the relevant minimums in the table. Those figures cannot establish whether a console, phone, or another store edition meets its own requirements.
- Separate startup delay from in-run slowdown. The version 1.15 notes mention faster startup with many DLCs, which concerns starting the game. If the game opens normally but slows during play, report that separately instead of assuming the startup change addresses it.
- Capture when it happens. Note whether the slowdown is consistent, restricted to late-game/high-effect situations, or associated with a recent update or DLC install. Include the platform and version when contacting support.
Do not buy a graphics card, cooling accessory, or other hardware on the assumption that it is a known Vampire Survivors fix. The official material cited here does not identify a physical product as a remedy, and the symptom pattern alone does not diagnose a hardware fault.
The 1.15 notes mention several distinct areas, so match your report to the one that describes the symptom without assuming that they are interchangeable. Memory and performance optimization and enemy-spawning improvements concern different aspects of how the game runs; faster startup with many DLCs is specifically a startup change. If the game starts promptly but slows only during a run, say that plainly. If the delay is before the menus appear, report it as startup or loading instead.
When describing lag, note whether it begins immediately or only under particular run conditions and whether it started after an update or DLC install. Avoid presenting a timing pattern as proof of its cause: a slowdown late in a run does not, by itself, identify a faulty component, a particular effect, or a setting to change. The strongest useful report is a clear symptom, platform, version, and repeatable context.
Missing, corrupted, or conflicting saves
“Save problem” can mean several different things: a local save seems absent, a file appears corrupted, Steam Cloud reports a synchronization conflict, or a player is trying to move progress between platforms. Identify which case you have before taking action. Steps for one case may make another harder to recover.
Before trying a recovery step, ask what still exists and where. A save absent on the device you are using may still be present on another device, or the issue may be a cloud conflict rather than a damaged file. A transfer question is different again: the fact that progress does not appear on a second platform does not establish that the first save is corrupted. Keep the possible copies intact while you determine which situation applies.
If Steam Cloud reports a conflict
Treat a Steam Cloud sync warning as a risk to existing progress, not as a harmless message to dismiss. Steam warns that launching despite a sync error can create a conflict between local and cloud files and result in lost progress. Resolve the underlying sync issue before starting the game when possible; do not casually choose to launch and sort the conflict out later.
If another device may contain a newer copy of the save, leave that device and its local files intact while checking the local/cloud state. Steam says lost save data is not likely to be recoverable by Steam Support and that it generally cannot recover lost save files. Avoid erasing or uninstalling the device that might hold the newer save until you understand which copy is current.

Starting the game before resolving the sync issue can create a conflict between them; choosing a copy without knowing which one is newer can put progress at risk. If you are unsure which copy is current, pause rather than treating the message as an ordinary launch prompt. The safe priority is to understand the sync state before making a change that could overwrite one version.

Steam’s warning is specific to Steam Cloud. It should not be used as a description of a save system on a console, mobile device, Apple Arcade, or Epic. If the warning appears on Steam, describe it as a cloud sync conflict in your report. If it does not, name the platform and the exact save symptom rather than assuming the same procedure applies.
If a save appears corrupted or is missing locally
Do not immediately delete, replace, or overwrite save files. First establish the platform and determine whether the save is genuinely corrupted, simply missing from the current device, or involved in a cloud sync issue. Recovery steps can be platform-specific, and an action that replaces one copy may eliminate a useful version.
Poncle’s February 2022 announcement described automatic backups and an in-game recovery flow: after ensuring the game had shut down, select Options → Restore Backup → Confirm. This is historical guidance, not confirmation that every current platform or build still presents those exact controls. Check whether the current game offers the option before relying on it, and do not assume that a Steam procedure applies to a console, mobile, Apple Arcade, or Epic edition.

Do not leave the game running while assuming the old backup instructions apply. First verify that the current build on your platform actually offers the option and that you understand what it will restore. If the menu is different, the option is missing, or you are unsure which copy you have, stop and seek platform-specific guidance rather than improvising with file changes.
A developer-authored pinned post also directs players to a save recovery guide and says they can contact [email protected] for case-specific help. If the recovery option is absent, the instructions do not match your platform, or you cannot tell which save copy is safe, ask poncle for platform-specific guidance before attempting a destructive reset.
Do not use a full reset as routine troubleshooting
The developer-authored recovery post documents a full-reset option in the game’s account/options menus. A full reset is destructive; it is not a normal first step for a missing or damaged save. Use it only if you deliberately want to reset progress and understand the consequences. For recovery, preserve the available copies and seek the appropriate platform-specific path instead.
A reset and a restore are not the same action. The historical backup guidance describes a restore flow, while the developer’s post separately documents a full reset. If your goal is to recover progress, do not choose a full reset just because a save is missing or appears damaged. Confirm the correct recovery path first, especially if any device may still hold a usable copy.

If you are trying to transfer progress between platforms
Cross-save availability is platform-specific and can change. Check both sides of the proposed transfer: the platform where the progress currently exists and the platform where you expect to see it. Confirm current official availability for that exact pair rather than relying on an old list or assuming that support on one platform means support on every other one.
