The season connects six regional leagues across three splits to First Stand, MSI, and a regional championship, before Worlds.
What are the LoL esports leagues in 2026?
Riot’s 2026 overview lists six regional professional leagues: CBLOL (Brazil), LCK (Korea), LCP (Pacific), LCS (North and Central America), LEC (Europe, Middle East and Africa), and LPL (Mainland China). League membership, calendars, and competition formats are not identical, so treat each as its own competition. Riot’s 2026 season overview outlines the ecosystem.
How the 2026 season connects its splits and international events
Riot describes three regional splits during 2026. The first leads into First Stand, the second feeds qualification for MSI, and the third culminates in a regional championship. Together, the regional competitions and international events build toward Worlds.
| Season stage | Riot’s 2026 window | What it leads to |
|---|---|---|
| First regional split | January 12–March 8 | First Stand, March 16–22 |
| Second regional split | March 30–June 21 | MSI, June 28–July 12 |
| Third regional split | July–October | Regional championships |
| Worlds | October 15–November 14 | Season-ending international event |

First Stand
First Stand follows the first regional split. Riot’s 2026 overview describes an eight-team event using Fearless Draft. See Riot’s First Stand information for event details.
Mid-Season Invitational
Riot describes MSI 2026 as an 11-team tournament representing six major leagues, with a Play-In stage followed by a Bracket stage. The MSI champion can earn a guaranteed Worlds slot subject to the region meeting the stated summer-split requirement; the runner-up’s region receives an additional slot. Qualification details are event- and rules-dependent, so check Riot’s MSI 2026 guide.

Worlds
Riot’s 2026 ecosystem page gives conflicting team totals—17 in one place and 18 in another—so the field size is unresolved in that source. The same page describes Play-Ins, a Swiss stage, and an eight-team knockout stage. Do not treat either team total as confirmed unless Riot clarifies it.
How do LoL playoffs work?
There is no single playoff format shared by all six leagues. Follow a league’s regular-season standings, then check its latest rulebook and event information for who qualifies, the bracket structure, series format, and how international places are allocated. Riot’s competition rules library lists league rules; event provisions can change during the season.

The schedule itself labels fixtures with categories such as “Playoffs,” “Finals,” and “Regional Qualifier,” and shows series lengths on match cards. In its 2026 examples, LCK, LPL, and LEC playoff series are labeled best-of-five (Bo5), while LCS regular-season matches include best-of-three (Bo3). These examples do not establish every league’s full format.

Language-specific examples from Riot event guides
Riot’s LCP guide lists English streams on Twitch and YouTube; Vietnamese on YouTube and TikTok; and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Thai on Twitch and YouTube. These are destinations listed for that guide, not a promise that every event offers the same language lineup. Check the current LCP broadcast guide for its links.
Riot’s Americas Cup guide lists English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish channels on Twitch and YouTube. For MSI 2026, Riot’s viewing guide describes Drops through LoLEsports.com or KICK for eligible viewers signed in with a Riot ID, as well as participating Twitch channels and co-streamers. Drops are campaign-specific; follow the active event instructions for eligibility.
In-person viewing
Some events also have attendance options. Riot’s LEC Summer Finals 2026 guide describes finals in Nice, a public watch party, and ticket information. That is specific to this event, not a standing guarantee that other finals have tickets or watch parties.
Choose a manageable first match
If you are new or returning, pick a broadcast by checking the region and teams, whether the match is regular season or a playoff/final, its local start time, series length, and available language or co-stream. This gives you a clear sense of the stakes and how long a series may run without assuming one league’s schedule or rules apply to another.
