Use the NFL’s official injury report for the week’s practice and game-status information, then check official team updates and the league’s inactive list close to kickoff. Practice participation is not a final verdict: “Questionable” means uncertain, “Doubtful” means unlikely to play, and “Out” means the player will not play.
Where to check for current status
- Start with the NFL injury report. Select the relevant week and game. The listing brings together player injury information, practice participation and game status; an older screenshot or report from a previous week may no longer be accurate.
- Check the player’s team channels for changes. NFL policy calls for an update when a post-report change could affect availability, with the information released to media and broadcast partners. Revisit the league listing and the team’s official channels as kickoff approaches.
- Check the inactive designation near kickoff. NFL Support says teams designate players inactive about 90 minutes before scheduled kickoff when they cannot play. That is approximate timing, not a guarantee that every listing will appear at an exact minute.
How to read practice participation and game status
The weekly report has separate practice and game-status information. Practice participation records what the player did in practice; game status assesses expected availability for the game. A missed or limited practice is not, by itself, a final “Out” designation.

The NFL Competition Committee’s policy revision says: “If there is any question concerning a player’s availability for the game, he should be listed as ‘Questionable.’” The game-status terms mean:
- Questionable: It is uncertain whether the player will play.
- Doubtful: The player is unlikely to participate.
- Out: The player will not play.
A player considered certain to play can be omitted from the game-status report even if listed on the practice report. An empty game-status field is therefore not confirmation that the player will be active; use later team updates and the inactive listing for the final pregame picture.

On the report deadline for that game week
Deadlines vary by scheduled game day. The NFL’s 2026–27 important-dates calendar lists regular-season deadlines in New York time: reports are due by 4:00 p.m. or as soon as possible after practice concludes. For Sunday games, the weekly game-status report is due Friday; Monday and midweek games follow different schedules. Consult the current-season calendar for the exact deadline rather than applying the Sunday schedule to every game.
After a report if availability changes
A report is a snapshot, not a guarantee that the player’s status will remain unchanged. When a post-report change could affect availability, NFL policy requires an update. Recheck official league and team channels as game time gets closer.

About 90 minutes before kickoff
Set a reminder using the game’s scheduled kickoff, then check the inactive designation near that time. The approximate 90-minute window comes from NFL Support; do not treat it as an exact publication guarantee.
