Soul is an elite assassin serving The Order. S-Game founder and CEO Soulframe Liang’s 2023 description says Soul is framed for murdering the organization’s patriarch. During the ensuing manhunt, Soul is gravely injured and saved by a mystic healer, whose makeshift cure gives him only sixty-six days to live. His immediate problem is both personal and urgent: find out who engineered the framing before his time runs out.

Official storefront descriptions use slightly different wording. The PlayStation and Steam listings describe Soul as framed for murdering his master, while Liang’s 2023 account says patriarch. Those descriptions establish the same broad predicament, but they do not settle whether “master” and “patriarch” are interchangeable titles or explain any plot distinction. Keep the wording attached to its source rather than filling in an explanation the official descriptions have not given.

Know what the setting’s terms mean
The Wulin
The Wulin is the martial world Soul travels through. In a PlayStation Blog post dated August 17, 2026, Liang describes it as a dark wuxia world full of conflict and intrigue, where Soul encounters citizens in need. Read “Wulin” as the world of martial factions, people and conflict encountered during the story, rather than as a separate character or organization.
The Phantom World
Liang uses “Phantom World” for the game’s wider universe. His description brings together Chinese kung fu, intricate machinery reminiscent of steampunk, occult arts, and elements that do not fit neatly into those categories. The Wulin is the martial world within the story’s presentation; Phantom World is Liang’s broader name for the setting.
Kungfupunk
“Kungfupunk” is S-Game’s own label for its art direction: a punk sensibility paired with kung fu influences. The PlayStation description evokes traditional martial arts, cold steel, mechanical prosthetics and punk fantasy. It is an aesthetic description, not the name of a historical martial-arts tradition or an in-world explanation of how every unusual element works.

Liang calls Phantom Blade Zero “the spiritual rebirth of the original Rainblood.” In that same 2023 account, he says the project has grown larger and richer, moving from RPG Maker to Unreal Engine 5 while retaining its core. That is the creator’s description of the relationship between the projects; it is not a requirement that players know the earlier game to understand Soul’s story.
Where to look for optional story detail
Explore beyond the main route
Do not assume the critical path is the only place the story matters. Liang has described the game’s structure as multiple reasonably sized, handcrafted maps rather than one continuous, huge world. In his August 17, 2026 PlayStation Blog post, he also points players toward citizens and side quests as ways to learn more about the Wulin. The practical implication is to explore each area you reach and pay attention to people who need help, instead of treating every map as a corridor to the next main objective.
This is advice about where narrative opportunities may be found, not a claim that every corner contains a clue. The official material does not provide an exhaustive route through maps or a checklist of all lore-bearing interactions. Use exploration to improve your chances of noticing optional context, not as a promise that a particular search pattern is complete.

Talk to citizens and follow up on requests
Liang says that interacting with citizens and completing some side quests “might even open up new story paths and deepen your understanding of this perilous martial world.” The cautious wording matters: the developer identifies a possibility, not a guaranteed reward for every interaction. When a character or quest catches your attention, following it is a sensible way to find more context, but do not assume that declining or missing a request permanently locks you out of the main story.
The same PlayStation Blog post says secrets hidden throughout the Wulin await discovery as players learn the truth behind the events that set the story in motion. That confirms that hidden narrative material is part of the intended experience. It does not establish that every secret is a quest, that every secret affects the plot, or that any one secret is permanently missable.
Keep a light record of names and questions
When an unfamiliar name, place or concept appears, note the exact term and where you encountered it. This is especially useful when an official description names a mystery without explaining it. A short list of questions—who is involved, what the game has actually shown, and what remains unexplained—helps separate story evidence from an interpretation that simply sounds plausible.
Avoid treating promotional phrasing as a complete lore glossary. Storefront descriptions are useful for identifying themes and mysteries the developers want players to notice; they are not proof of a particular theory, faction relationship or hidden history. If a character’s motive or a term’s meaning is not stated in the game or an official explanation, keep it open rather than turning a guess into a fact.
Mysteries to notice without assuming their answers
The current official PlayStation and Steam descriptions call attention to several terms and mysteries. Steam also names two concepts not included in the PlayStation description. The reviewed official pre-release descriptions do not fully explain what any of these mean in the story, so use them as signposts for attention rather than as a ready-made explanation.

The difference between the two listings is worth keeping in mind: Steam names Discordance and Inanis’ Dreamscape, while the PlayStation description does not. Choose difficulty for the experience you want
Liang describes Wayfarer mode as the option for players who mainly want to enjoy the story. He describes Hellwalker as adding more advanced and adaptive enemy intelligence, and Sixty-Six Days as especially challenging. These are difficulty descriptions, not evidence that a mode changes which lore or story paths are accessible.

What is known—and what remains open
The official material establishes a compelling framework: an assassin framed for killing his master or the Order’s patriarch, a sixty-six-day limit, and a conspiracy threatening the Wulin. It also gives a concrete way to look for more narrative context: explore, interact with citizens, and pursue some side quests. Beyond those points, the official pre-release descriptions leave important details unresolved.

How to evaluate story claims as you play
Use a simple distinction between what the game shows, what a creator has described, and what players infer. A direct scene or line of dialogue can establish a fact about Soul’s journey. A creator’s interview or official blog can clarify the intended premise or the kinds of optional content to look for. A fan theory can help you notice patterns, but it remains a theory until the story or an official explanation confirms it.
This distinction is especially useful when a term has a dramatic name. “Memory Flowers,” “Transcension” and “Inanis’ Dreamscape” invite interpretations, but a name is not an explanation. Record the surrounding context: who says the term, what event prompted it, and whether the story connects it to any earlier clue. If later information changes your first impression, update your notes rather than forcing every detail into the initial theory.

Also separate a mystery from a promise of a particular answer. Official descriptions flag several mysteries to attract attention, but they do not promise that each will receive a complete explanation in a specific quest or in the same part of the story. Follow what appears naturally, and avoid treating the absence of an answer in a storefront description as evidence for a hidden plot twist.

The available official descriptions were published at different points and serve different purposes. The August 17, 2026 PlayStation Blog post adds more practical information about the Wulin, citizen encounters, possible side-quest story paths and difficulty options. The current PlayStation and Steam listings provide their own concise descriptions and do not use every term identically.
That timeline helps explain why details may appear in one official description but not another. A storefront summary is not necessarily an exhaustive world guide, and a later post adding a detail does not automatically resolve every question left open by earlier wording. When comparing accounts, preserve the attribution and date: for example, Liang’s earlier premise says “patriarch,” whereas the later storefront descriptions say “master.” The facts can be reported without guessing at an unprovided distinction.

As of the official listings checked in October 2026, release dates vary by storefront and region: S-Game’s official page lists October 29, 2026; the US PlayStation Blog says October 29, with October 28 in the United States and select regions; and Steam lists October 28, 2026. Check the listing for your own region and platform rather than treating one date as universal.
The US PlayStation page lists Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe listing includes Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form appearances, a digital artbook and a digital soundtrack. Its preorder bonuses are early unlocks of Treasure Basin and Legacy; the page says those items can also be obtained through in-game progression. These are digital edition details and do not confirm a physical artbook, soundtrack, disc edition or collector’s release.

The listed appearances and digital extras do not establish that the Deluxe Edition contains additional lore, exclusive story chapters or a different route through Soul’s investigation. The storefront information describes cosmetic and digital bonus content, while the side-quest guidance concerns ways the game may deepen understanding of the Wulin.

A spoiler-conscious way to play
- Follow the main story first, but do not rush past every encounter. Soul’s framing, limited time and search for the person behind the conspiracy provide the main narrative thread. When a map presents citizens or optional requests, take a moment to see whether they offer context you want.
- Explore the handcrafted maps you reach. The game is described as a sequence of multiple reasonably sized maps, not one continuous open world. Search with curiosity, while avoiding the assumption that a single sweep guarantees every secret.
- Speak with people and consider side quests. S-Game specifically connects some citizen interactions and side quests with deeper understanding and the possibility of new story paths. Treat “some” and “might” as important qualifications.
- Track names without filling in gaps. Note recurring terms such as Memory Flowers or Transcension and distinguish what the game states from what you infer.
- Select difficulty based on combat preference. Wayfarer is the story-focused option described by Liang; the available material does not connect difficulty choice with lore completeness.
This approach favors context without turning the game into a checklist. It follows the developer’s own guidance while leaving room for the story to explain its mysteries in its own order.
